but I'm fucking impressed with the Grubby/Artosis casting combo. They're accurate and pleasant to listen to.

The only reason I'm watching a bunch of PvPs is Artosis + Grubby as casters. Probably the best casting pair you could have for a PvP.

I think it will suffer from a lot of the must see players losing before the event to an extent.

That's not the point, it's well known that sc2 isn't that popular in China. So why trying to push it anyway ? It's just hurting the tournament. But yeah, I agree it's probably a marketing move :-/

It will still be a great event, but a qualifier being more amazing than the main event normally means something went wrong.
