Players will always go through a period of ups and downs. I think the EG players are just in the spotlight more so people really pay attention. I wouldn't really blame their practice schedule. Idra, Huk, Thorzain, Stephano and Puma has won tournaments after joining EG.
Of your list, Thorzain getting super sick for a month might be the closest thing to a curse lol.

he wasn't in code as before eg, now he got there 2 times + 3rd place hsc IV and 5:2 score in GSTL. Nothing special, but still better than before.

Because protoss was terribly underpowered back then. I remember how amazed everybody was when Huk won MLG and then Hero won Dreamhack.
