There is free street parking on Sundays. Parking can be found on various nearby side streets. Plateau Road is the closest. Refreshments are available on site as well as other establishments in the area.
Gear (headset, keyboard, and mouse) will be provided by Local Battles but we encourage you to bring your own gear. If you have a large mouse pad, please be aware that you will not have enough for it to lay flat. If you have any drivers you'd like to install (pertaining to your peripherals i.e. Razer Synapse) please let us know.
Entry fee is $30. Includes prize pool contribution and full access to LAN center. You can pre-register at the link provided below to save $10 on your entry fee.
All players competing must pay their entry fee prior to tournament date (save $10) or day of event. No exceptions.
Tournament format varies from event to event and is contingent upon the number of entrants. All events feature some type of bracket play. Preliminary games are always Best of 3. Finals will always be a Best of 5.
All forms of BM are strictly forbidden. Friendly trash talk and banter is allowed but should be kept to a minimum as to not disturb another players focus.
Typing "gg" at any point other than the initial "gl hf gg" period at the beginning of games will mean that you surrender. This is to prevent any offensive "gg" as well as any players that continue to play after typing "gg" in the hopes of causing their opponent to halt normal play.
Intentionally delaying a game is strictly forbidden. Players may pause at their convenience but only if they announce they are doing so (sec, pp, ppp, etc.).
First map will be picked through vetoes. Each player will take turns vetoing a map until only one remains. After that map pool is open and it is loser's pick.

I have a few questions 1 - Prize pool? 2 - Fee's to enter? 3 - We are allowed to use our own gear? I'm sure we are but just making sure.
I'm not affiliated with them so these aren't official answers but this is how it was run the last few times I've been there:
1- Whatever sponsor (Playhem) provides + $10 from entrance fee from each player. Pool is split 70/20/10 for 1st/2nd/3rd 2- $20 if you prereg, $30 at the door 3- Yup, but if you need special drivers you might want to talk with them in advance
I've played in it twice and have gotten smashed every single time, but the place is a lot of fun and there are a ton of good players in the area, so there a lot of good games. The computers run the game more smoothly than mine at home, and the chairs are pretty comfy, lol.

If there is anything I can really say I love about localbattles, their chairs are by far the best that I have ever seen at a lan and actually probably even better than mine at home.

It's a really friendly place. Since I've been casting them I've seen players from all skill levels play and have a good time. If you're looking to get better it's a great way to get some free coaching from semi-pros and pros. Or if you're looking to have fun, you get to play a lot of other games with other games as well as Starcraft.
Probably gonna be at this one again, and is there a way that the next ones could be on a saturday? For me, I have school on monday and its a 2:30 hour drive so kinda hard :D but should be fun again.

Yes.
to further elaborate, the registration/entry fee completely covers computer usage for the duration of the tournament. (however you may be asked to relieve your station if there are not enough computers and you are not currently playing a scheduled match)
Hey guys, I can pick up at least one person depending on my usual crew. Normally I pick up ErikTheRed (co-caster), dice, and Siphonn from Metro Park Train Station. As far as I know they're all coming this month as well.
If anyone is able to get to Metro Park they have a ride there and back provided they can coordinate their train arrival times. Any questions, PM me.

Unfortunately direct transportation to the venue is kind of difficult. You can take a bus, but I believe you have to transfer a few times. I can pick you up from Metro Park train station if you'd like. I believe I have room for one more person.
Edit: Just realized I'm on the Local battles account. This is windy btw ^_^
Here is a bad video of how to Get to Local Battles from the GWB bus terminal.
You can also use http://www.njtransit.com/ to find the next up to the minute bus to 1207 Anderson Ave Fort Lee, NJ from Port Authority or Newark Penn Station.

I will likely be driving over from manhattan if anyone needs a ride. Priority goes to Protoss players > Terran players > Random players > Spectators > Zerg players.....

you forgot siblings, parents and mother in laws. those should go right after spectators.
Really wish I could go guys, this event seems like it will be the biggest one ever, but sadly I can't . I work a 10 hour shift on Sunday. Sucks because I feel like I am playing well and am in shape to actually take this one and not choke like all the other times . Good luck, I expect Axslav and/or Pyre to win..
On the bright side though, confirmed I will be at MLG, so see you guys there..! :D

Would Nov 24th be possible?
dunno how everyone else gets there, but parking is atrocious any day but saturday. The meter's are only 1hr + there are not many of them so you'd have to keep going out and feeding it assuming you could find parking
sundays all parking is free and i always find a spot within 2 blocks of venue

The parking is one issue but also Saturday is our busiest day of the week. The event would not be able to replace the lost revenue unless registration was up to $50/person. Most of the community insisted that they prefer a more affordable event vs a more convenient day hence the Sunday compromise.
Hello everyone. I would like to clarify how the prize pool is structured. It will be $10 per every entrant. so 32 players would equal a $320 prize pool. We expect around 20-25 players this time around so the prize pool will be $200-$250 dollars. Playhem's contributions are more behind the scenes towards our improving production.
Not to call out Playhem or anything but with them having the money to host all their daily tournaments I'd of expected them to add ATLEAST like a 150$ to the prize pool for an actual lan event they're 'sponsoring' and affiliated with now.

I assure you the event production costs well exceeds what you suggest they should be contributing.

Production value >> Prize pool (completely financed by players themselves). Anyways I don't want to go into this because optomistically I'll believe this is for the player's best interests.
We are sorry you feel this way and we hope you reconsider. The players, casters, producers, sponsors and us (the venue) all have to contribute to make an event fun and successful. While prize sizes of course are a big attraction to an event it is not the sole reason why someone should participate. We are not a huge gaming company enterprise like MLG. We are a smallgaming center producing an event for those that want to be involved in their regional community. Maybe next time.

Fair enough I can understand that. I will be tuning in to watch and wish you good luck.
was looking forward to this.. but im going to MLG so maybe go to the weekend after MLG?? i think some other people are going to have the same problem because of MLG weekend also;;
Sorry for the delay everyone. When we decided on the reschedule this morning we did not take into account MLG. Let me take a moment to address a few of the questions presented since this morning.
1) If the community prefers we can change the date to Sunday Nov. 11th assuming there is no competing event with that date 2) We would normally would run the event during rain or snow but once the State of NJ declares a State of Emergency we have to consider the welfare of those traveling. Plus, legally we need to oblige. 3) For those that have already registered, your registration automatically moves to the new proposed date. You can however request a full refund if preferred.
So who would like the date moved to Nov. 11th or have a better Sunday in mind?

Do we have to print out another ticket or should the one we already have be fine?
Weird y does it have NJ address but is located in NY? O_O im in philly wish i could go but 2 hours drive ><. Also how does a Lan center not have enough room for large mouse pads when large mouse pads go hand in hand with gaming basically O_o
1) Local Battles is located in NJ but we cater to all gamers in a 50 mile radius which includes NY 2) Local Battles originally started as a console only Game Center in 2010 so the stations were not designed for larger mouse pads.

Might want to switch the date in the OP then otherwise u'll get confused people showing up in the center
So just to be sure, if I paid for the one that was supposed to be in October, I don't have to do anything to update it. I can just come with the old ticket on Sunday?

Yes you can it'll be fine, i think it would be silly if they would suspect of you or disallow you from participating if you don't have 2 simple changes in the ticket.
Hey I can't go .. because I'll be in california (away on vacation).. Sucks :x .. any chance the money I paid gets refunded or transfered to a future event?

Sorry for the delay in responses. To answer a few questions
1) Refunds are available if you request them 2) The October event was rescheduled for tomorrow, so all those tickets are valid 3) For logistic reasons, we do not carry over tickets from previous events (must request a refund)
If you would like a refund, please submit it via email> info@localbattles.com
I had sooo much fun!! Even though I didn't stand a chance haha! Great talking to the guys from Clarity Gaming! I'll definitely be checking out your site later today!
