ive heard this story on the forums.
Happy used to be an engineering student
in Japan (was on scholarship provided by Korean governemnt).
Then he got into SC2, came back to Korea, then sat a trial to get into IM team.
Actually in his trial against IM playerst coach Kang was surprised about how crap he was, so he failed.
A month later, happy went for the trial AGAIN. This time around, he wanted to show how much he has improved.
Still, he was still pretty bad, but coach Kang just let him in the team considering his passion. He was so happy that
he named himself "Happy"
pretty amazing story if its true
That's pretty touching ;o
I can probably do WCG but not GSTL

Sacrificing my liquibet in good faith, if that bothers you
You are doing it wrong. You have to cheer for one player and Liquibet on his opponent. So no matter who wins, you'll always have something to be happy about ^^

Eh if they're proud of rain they can be, he's pretty good. You would expect that there would be at least two code s caliber kespa players pretty quickly - Imo rain and roro. I think roro will come up to code S, while we can get a decent number of kespa players in code A. After all, they just had to adapt to a meta game not invent it;it will be much easier to catch on.

Waiting for someone to create a rain fanclub so I can join it. :D

One misclick and then game-over One misclick? Meh. Byun didn't need to bring his whole army to the watch tower, he didn't properly scout Rain's lack of a third base (thus implying the incoming attack), Byun's drop was a good chunk of his army and did nothing (therefore it was just a bunch of units that were just out of position when it was time to defend), and let's not forget that Rain is on SKT, which means that he's just plain awesome. He lost the mental fight back in the first set. He lost his passion back when he talked to Tasteless. But in all seriousness, I think that he should have been able to start his second game in the series with a fresh, new mindset. He wasn't playing that poorly in the second game until the end with his poor decision making; I don't think he gave up on his Code S spot. He's a top level pro-gamer; I think his mental state is a little more stable than that.
I think that it impacted his decision making. The mixed emotions between confidence vs a kespa player and fear of losing to a kespa player (backlash from fans) alongside losing the first set and being a favourite to win the group definitely hurt his decision making. It looked a little bit shaky, if not a little bit indecisive. Simple mistakes that he should know better not to make (that he often doesnt make) coupled with the fact Rain played well and studied Byun at some point I am sure definitely impacted the match.
Im not saying he lost because he lost the mental battle. I am saying it heavily impacted his play in the second set. He was pensive and scouting poorly

Why all the hate... Because KeSPA fanboys has given a lot of hate to the GOM players? ESF fanboys doesn't do the same for KeSPA players? Please, such hypocrisy. Not even close in the same scale. I don't care if they are ESF or KeSPA players, I just want to see good SC2. But since I've read a lot of LR I can confidently say that ESF players get a lot more hate than the other way around. I just answered the question "why all the hate?". That is the reason. Personally I don't care since my two favourite players are Leenock and ZerO.
Dunno about that but I agree to your sentiments though. At the end of the day we just want better games. If you remember back in WCS every win kespa does just got downplayed by ESF fanboyism. ESF player is tired, intimidated, jetlagged, in the losers bracket, <insert more comical excuses>. I mean really both sides are just throwing equal amount of flak at each other. It's fine to root for the player you like but don't act like only one side is all innocent and victimized.

Agreed, I enjoyed the games today.
Rain played well, but I still feel like Byun played worse than he usually does.

most of these sc2 guys are failed bw pros. they don't have confidence vs players they know are better.
just because you don't know bw doesn't mean they don't. let's be serious here.

I think they will adapt and maybe even improve it. Tasteless already said that Kespa player's play style is different compare to the ESF players. I think we are going to see a lot of new builds coming very soon. I just hope Blizz doesn't patch out things too quickly this time.
