Nice Squirtle Fangirls ^_^

4:00min
Both players going for the normal Gate-Gas-Core
Genius takes his 2nd Gas earlier this time though.

6:00min
Both players are going for Zealot and then Sentry.
Both players go for Stargate on similar timings!

Mirror builds so far, both players with the same unit count as well.

8:00min
First real deviation: Squirtle adds a third Gate while Genius stays on 2. Genius moves out with his first 2 Phoenix and finally both players realize they played mirror build
Squirtle engages with 3 Phoenix against Genius 2 and kills both of them
Genius goes for a Robo and a 3rd Gate now while Squirtle decides to expand.

I still want to know what the WCS Global Finals prize pool is. I wonder if Blizzard will look at Riot's World Championship and try to make a new record for biggest prize pool in SC2.

It's gonna be big. My guess would be around 100,000$ for first, but that's just a guess.

it kinda seems to have the smallest prize pool out of the big games, like LoL and dota2

But the tournaments are more frequent, far more frequent.

Also Riot and Valve are the main sponsors for the prize pools of the tournaments.

GSL, MLG, Dreamhack, etc. All of those obtain their own funding via sponsors Blizzard hasn't been directly supporting them.

So the prize pool numbers are a bit deceiving, and the question must be asked of what would those two games' esports scene look like without the direct funding from Riot and Valve.

also moba are team games lol (no pun).

the prize has to be split amongst the team.

Also a very good point.

The famous 1,000,000 dollar DOTA2 tournament worked out to 200,000 per player which is still a lot, but that's not that much more than what some of the higher end SC2 tournaments go for.

isnt 200,000 more than the GSL and OSL prizepools?

Wasnt that tourney a big marketing thing and one time? But yah highest SC2 one was the 100k super tourney to Polt

Well the international dota2 tourny happening now is 1.5 mil
dAPhREAk gives Shock a * | [23:55] <Shock710> that was out of context -_- [16:26] <@motbob> Good question, Shock!

That was Hero vs Inori. I did a cast of it too.

Was a very entertaining game. Phoenix vs Phoenix is so funny.

Yes, but my point is it only happened once. Valve funded that prize pool hoping the enormous amount of money being offered would give them the publicity they needed to start competing with League of Legends.

That's a very different concept from the SC2 tournaments that are self-sufficient being paid for by third party sponsors as well as the fanbase.

One model has long term viability, the other does not.

Pretty much this. The fact that you see almost 5 million dollars over 500 or so tournaments means there's a lot of tournaments with a goodly amount of prize money going out. If you had that 5 million and only like 10 tournaments, that'd be bad, because in the pro scene if you didn't get money off of one of those tournaments you'd probably be completely out of luck. With so many tournaments, though, it gives a chance for smaller scenes to grow, because you're not going to have MKP, MC et al flying out to Kekderp, Idaho to play in a tournament offering 5k to the winner, but 5k isn't bad for someone trying to get started.

12:00min
Squirtle adds more Gateways while Genius still builds Phoenix. Genius has almost now Stalkers and Sentries because of investing that much Gas into Phoenix.
It's 11 Phoenix for Genius now against 7 for Squirtle, Genius kept his Phoenix count hidden.

Huge fight at Genius natural! Genius wins the air battle convincingly but Squirtle takes the ground battle. It's Phoenix vs Stalker now. With good focus fire Squirtle snipes one Phoenix after another and takes a huge lead. Genius tries to hold with Stalker warpins and his last few Phoenix but Squirtle is too far ahead now.
Squirtle does the offensive Blink and takes the game and therefore the series with a score of 2-0!
