Honestly, I hate to bring this up but I feel that it's the elephant in the room that people are refusing to talk about . . . I think that I was 1 of about 15k people who had to tune out during Ret vs Alicia yesterday because of Frodan/Gretorp casting. The stream dropped from 55k to 37k, and I really don't think it was because of the players. No one wants to say anything negative about Frodan/Gretorp because they're such nice people, me incuded, but should they really be casting this? It's like listening to your friend sing karaoke horribly, you don't want to say anything but you can barely stand to listen. It's affecting the tournament numbers IMO. It's more likely the drop in stream numbers was because Stephano's series had just ended and it was late in EU, so a lot of EU viewers went to bed instead of staying up for Ret/Alicia. If you don't enjoy the casting you can always mute the stream and keep watching ( not ideal, I know. )

They're not as good as some other casters out there, that is obviously true, but you can't really just remove them when they are a huge part of what made this happen.

Yeah, seems like NASL is kind of stuck. Also, I don't think the stream lost 18k viewers instantly after Stephano's game because it was simpy late in EU. Ret is a pretty damn popular EU player as well.

It's interesting that you say that, I never thought about it until you mentioned it. I think just the idea that a large event is in Canada is exciting enough that it just sounds good? Also population density is pretty weak in comparison to most states in America, so there's a lot of people from several provinces that has gone down. I believe it's appropriate, since we're used to being grouped under a flag rather than under a province or city.

Personally calling legion to win, they won vs deadstop (yeah I know they're monomaniacs, but their old name was better) in the fpsgeneral and talespin is just 2good. Not to mention proj/hatuey already have some of the best chainguns online, on LAN its just going to be disgusting. Zato will probably rape some face too, as well as mabel. But I really don't see deadstop winning this.

As for Ostojey's skill (spelling? On iPhone so can't readily check), it dwarf's that of Incontrol (which, let's be honest, are lolable) and his result recently are much better than Idra's, so yes, he is currently a better player than both of them.

Here's what I think, it was a combination of : - The casting - MC vs Stephano basically decided the whole tournament, Ret vs Alicia did indeed feel like a match for 2nd/4th place. - It was getting late for EU Now I don't know how much each of these factors weigh in for viewership loss, It's possible the casting is the #1 reason or It's possible one of the other two are. I don't think you can blame the casting alone for the viewership drop though.
