they are actually made to put players in their "own" world and avoid the presence of the crowd

Of course they are. This whole visual que from the audience is bullshit, most booth have giant windows out to the audience. Booths might not be entirely sound proof, but along with the headset it helps. Before MLG had booths there were problems with players hearing casters.

Due to differently shaped heads etc. it's virtually impossible for anyone but the player himself to ensure that he's completely sealed off. Without booths, we really have to trust in the honesty of the players, meaning that we'll definitely see much drama during the next hours about whether or not someone might or might not have heard some kind of crowd reaction and whether or not his reaction was "legit" or based on sound-bleed-through. :/ "Honesty" really doesn't even work here. E.g. you're a Terran starting a game against a Zerg. If you hear a member of the crowd shout 6 pool you'd be stupid not to wall-in with your rax etc. Soooooooo many problems could arise without booths.

The booth have sound cancellation "sound waves" that is quite noisy. The headphones are used so you don't have to hear those loud noises in the booth.

They haven't dropped a series yet, so they should have the chance.
