"This is what happens when you have one player on your team."

This is what happens when IM do nothing but throw 2 base collussus at TaeJa, alas. HerO almost had it, just needed some sentries to hold that. Oh well, I guess that's Seed's 15 minutes of fame out the window, Liquid were carried pretty hard by TaeJa but I expect they'll come back bigger & better. HerO just needs to regain his confidence, TLO should've been thrown out instead of Ret given his current form, Zenio... I dunno, he seems like the weak link for Liquid right now.

Still, been a fun albeit dreary at times day.

IdrA is no longer the BM champ. IGN takes it!

gratz to IM. although I'm a TaeJa fanboy, I'm happy that Seed got to show his skills as I really felt bad for him when he was getting bashed after GSL finals

Why does TL have to win 2 BO9's and IM only one BO9?

Loser's bracket

To elaborate slightly, it's because Liquid was the loser's bracket winner in a Double Elimination tournament, and IM hasn't lost a match yet, whereas, Liquid had, therefore, Liquid needed to win 1 Bo9 to reset it for the Grand Finals. Stupid format, imho.

Ummm... yes, that's a pretty dumb format.

Why is that dumb? Liquid has already lost a series, IM hadn't

Past series should have no relevance in the next upcoming series or the finals. In major sports, all that happens is you get 1 extra home court game or something that really doesn't make much of a difference, what if every sport had 2 grand finals because one team had a near undefeated run and the other didn't? it wouldnt be accepted.

Most sports don't have a double elimination bracket. Your analogy fails. This has been the standard in essentially every double elim. tournament ever. It's either this or extended series. Guess which one is better.

Ah I see.
Worth pointing out that the only double elim tournament that I know of that didn't have two bo5s (or some kind of advantage for the WB player) was the MSL in BW.

wcs?

MSL did give an advantage to their winner bracket player when they used double-elim. The advantage differed from season to season, but I wanna say the winner bracket player got to "pick maps" or pick the 1st and final set map.

Your point being? He lost one game, that is regarded as the single most volatile matchup in SC2. He's still a good player

Despite IM winning this, it was definitely Taeja's day.

They were incredibly fortunate for the games and in particular, Taeja. Otherwise this would have been an unmitigated disaster.
