An open tournament should work like MLG where the professionals are seeded (based on previous results in qualifiers etc..) and the diamond league players play off camera for a chance to play with the professionals later on if they win enough games.
The Dreamhack format is stupid, which is even more funny as they had it right last year when they did seed to pro's and let the randoms play their own tournament with the top two (Osho and Sarens in this case) getting a spot in the main tournament.

I love "MaNa story" on stream 2. And I guess these are the best casters he could get.

Another event I thought Goody would be attending but apparently is not.

I think they just do that for Dreamhack Winter, all other tounraments before Winter are completely open, and unseeded. The pros sign up knowing that, so I don't see the problem.

the pro's could sign up knowing that the winner would get a pie thrown in his face, it wouldn't stop it being a stupid idea.

And yet they didn't do that last year at all, so clearly you're wrong and everyone doesn't always have a chance to participate.

Watching Mana vs Clockwise right now. Did I pick a bad game to start watching this tournament, or have they all been this embarrassing?

Isn't that what Dreamhack Winter is? Where all the other dreamhacks provide points/seeding for it?

I can't believe someone actually likes the MLG format more than Dreamhack's.

So apparently the solution to the terrible things tournaments do question is to not complain and make suggestions (which is why MLG is so much better this year than last, why NASL isn't broadcasting 3 month old games and why GSL isn't best of 1 with a virtually locked group of Code S players) it's to not watch at all.
Great suggestion mate, the scene with go far with you at the helm.
