NASL Announces Season 3 Open Tournament Information!

The North American Star League is pleased to announce the NASL Season 3 Open Tournament. In keeping with tradition, this tournament offers both pros and those still aspiring to break into an eSports career the chance to fight for a spot at the NASL Season 3 Grand Finals as well as earn a spot in the league in the upcoming season.

Specifically, the top two placing individuals in the open tournament will earn a spot in the the NASL Season 3 Wild Card matches where they will fight against some of the best players of Season 3 for a chance at the playoffs. The top four placing individuals in the open tournament will earn a spot in NASL Season 4.

For those who were knocked out in previous NASL Seasons and want to earn their spot back or for those who are trying to earn a spot in the league for the first time, the NASL Season 3 Open Tournament is the ideal chance! After all, the NASL Open Tournament winners have had a rather successful history thus far, with PuMa going on to become the NASL Season 1 and Season 2 champion, and Thorzain placing 4th overall in the NASL Season 2 Grand Finals tournament.

Sad to see another tournament clash, this time with DreamHack Summer (16th - 19th) and the second EU HomeStory Cup qualifier (14th).

There's more tournaments than available days. This is just a qualifier ! There's more chances to qualify for the league as well!

While this may be the case, I am still saddened. Regardless, I hope the event will be excellent.

Its open as in anyone can enter, meaning no invites, its the same as MLG and IPL "Open Bracket", where you have to buy player passes to play in the open bracket.

Season 4 is confirmed!!!

For those of you late to the scene NASL started out saying that they had funding secured for 3 seasons minimum, so this new season must be a indicator of things going well for them or at least them seeing future success.

Man I really love the NASL. Hope they can keep it up. It's great having that much competitive SC2 to watch. I may enter just to get annihilated and give them ten bucks. Actually I'd really be interested in casting some of the pre-lims.

Yes! They've stepped it up hardcore this season, I was hoping it wasn't too late.

might not be the entirely right place to ask but couldnt find it on nasl page or on liquipedia for season 3. How many players will be on the finals? Will it still be top 2 of each group + those 2 here + this playoff bracket winners which consists of top 20 behind the top 2 of each group?

and GESL (15th -17th).

Glad to see that bigger events will announce a date months after smaller lans and probably manage to snag all the viewers. #killingesports

Charging 10$ kind of makes it so you go from supporting up and coming players to not so much...Sure it's only 10$ but a cost without a profit sure isn't good for an unstable new career for anyone...

What? You're comparing a $11,000 LAN event to an online qualifier. This makes no sense. There's about 5-10 events/tournaments every weekend. Not sure what this aggression is all about

If you can't afford $10 you might want to reconsider what you're doing.

some confusion about the dates... matches will be played 12th 13th and 14th ONLY... the broadcast of the last rounds will happen by replay.

hope this clears up any confusion for players thinking about signing up

If Players qualify for the ro8, and are at Dreamhack, is there any chance this tournament could be scheduled around DH play times, to allow for both tournaments to be played

NASL badly needs to pay TeamLiquid to make this a sponsored thread...

Not this time. Top 2 go into the wildcard playoffs to get to the finals.

I love all the NASL qualifier events! I'll be doing some 3rd party commentating for the earlier rounds so keep an eye out for that as well.

Good Luck to everyone who signed up and keep spreading the word! :D

How many MVP players are we talking about? DRG maybe? My guess is it's just the mvp players currently in cali for the gigabyte lan, monster, tails and dream.

Good luck to the Nightmares players who signed up. Hope to see some more lesser known players, like Targa this season, in the next season.

Can I ask when the tournament starts in CEST?

It was meant to begin in 2 hours 20 minutes, has it been put back a day?

Bad news for all the other attendees and the finalists of the league stages. DRG is a player who is able to win it all.

Anything other than 4 Koreans getting the 4 spots would surprise me. That makes me sad, I always thought of NASL as the premier foreigner league with a few good Koreans sprinkled in.

Edit: the only thing I could see being a factor is that none of MvP seems to be in online tournaments on other servers, so they may not be used to the latency.

Edit2: Does W/L indicate a walkover?

He also beat Sniper, which is hard to believe.
Also, sad that desrow lost, with Kees's momentum it will be hard to stop him, but DRG will probably take it.
Oh, another thing, is MaruKim MaruPrime?

I could honestly see Moonglade and SortOf beating their opponents, especially with the latency advantage. SortOf beats Koreans daily in Playhems.

Woot Beasty! One more series!

Edit: Actually quite impressive the Europeans did anything in this tournament, it's like 5 AM over there.

beasty is in the US

and congrats Beasty!

I know, I was talking about the other Europeans.

I'm assuming they aren't updating the bracket intentionally so as to not spoil the results for the broadcast.

Just checked the brackets. DRG out makes me a sad panda but this was Puma has a better chance to defend his title. Don't get me wrong, I want a foreigner to win this... But there'd be something just way too cool about Puma winning the first three NASLs.
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

Beasty needs 1 more win to qualify?

Did they just air Finale and Beasty winning last night, or were the other two games played too?

please add a link to the brackets/the liquipedia entry to the op and to the calendar entry of the nasl playdays.
this way information about this event is much easier to obtain.

This is the last round as there as there is no point in playing the finals, both people advance.

Galaxy and BeastyQT qualify for the Wildcard play offs for the Season 3.

Nice to see MaSa emerge out of nowhere - qualifying for NASL 4 is quite the breakthrough.

I don't think you understand what an open means.

Anyways, very cool opportunity for players to try and qualify!
