ps - if anyone's asking, these LR threads are meant for SC2 coverage in the SC2 forums. It was agreed back in the BW forums when the split was discussed that it may be better for separate LR threads in each so that flaming is less, and I'm hopeful that BW forums will make their own LR threads for SPL. I'm just providing the SC2 side of things.

This is standard if both players open phoenix, which is about 5% of the time. So it's like 5% of 5% of games turn into phoenix wars. It really has been around for a long time though. Mass phoenix is really only a thing when both players go phoenix, which has happened before on quite a few occasions (just not so often on broadcasted games). I don't mean to spoil anyone's enthusiasm, but that was standard SG vs SG pvp, the same way it's been played for months.

massing phoenixes is pretty common when you are playing against a player going phoenix too

You only go mass phoenix in stargate vs stargate. In any other situation you would transition out of it, but in stargate vs stargate... you can't.

I feel like it's mainly because it's Entombed and most people seem to figure it favours protoss with the quick 3 base being very easily defended with force field, which tends towards PvP. I guess the BW guys aren't really advanced enough in SC2 skill to prepare a sniper just yet.

Yeah, they were largely playing Brood War from memory anyway, so if anything this has evened the field in Brood War for them .
Proleague really puts the gomTvT days into perspective, all we can do is wait until zergs and terrans become more accustomed to SC2 and can stand up to the protosses ;_;.
The quality of the StarCraft II in the ProLeague is so mediocre, sort of disappointing. Wish the players had more time to prepare (or only had to play on one game).
Not the greatest introduction to SCII for the Korean BW fans.

True, but it's still really early to be making any judgments, and regardless of whether the games show great skill or not, it's been pretty entertaining watching SC2 in SPL -- some strange builds / situations, and the great commentary / production value helps a lot.

Nothing has happened. The article was written with no knowledge of the dual league. These PL games are in no way an indication of the legitimacy or failures of that article. All the top SC2 players were ex-BW players, with no exception. When these players are allowed to fully transition to SC2 we will see how good they truly can be. Many recent GSL games haven't looked much better if at all compared to the PL games.

You fail to take into consideration that that article meant 1 game! not both at the same time. Give it couple of months more, and the elephant will grow considerably. Why are people so ignorant and expect the change to happen over night?

But my dear friend BW players have been above everyone else since the beta of SC2 . The difference here is that the TOP BW players have started playing the game later , because they had no reason to switch with all the good money they are making in BW .They are making good money right now while learning SC2 also .
BW pros are being payed to practise for at least 8 hours a day BW and SC2 . They will practise at least 8 hours a day SC2 when PL swithes completely to SC2 . Top players like Flash , Jaedong , Bisu , Fantasy , Stork , Zero , Effort and others practise more then 8 hours a day to remain the best in the sport . So expect them to excell once BW is over . Then will see where SC2 is heading and with HOTS beeing released everyone will start on equal grounds . I personally hope for GOM and Kespa to work together in the future .
Code A is just a quallifier for Code S it's not even a good term for the measurement of skills . Yes it's the strongest tournament in SC2 right now , but it has a small sample size . If all the BW pros had a run from Code B to Code S i would put money that a big number of them will make code A and get eliminated while going to code S . Some could make Code S who knows SC2 skill ceiling isn't that big for that not impossible to happen .

Didn't MVP, who's average/above-average A-teamer, spend about 6 months practicing before he started to come onto the scene in SC2? And this was back when it was less competitive and he could practice entirely in SC2? Currently, BW pros just came back from an offseason in which they all had vacations, came back to basically start anew in SC2 while still practicing a little BW, and what do you expect?
As for those who have practiced longer, they are mostly B-teamers whom the teams don't need for the proleague last season. So to compare them with star players is absurd to say the least.

It'd make more sense to call stasis on ramps Force Fields rather than the other way 'round, since Force Fields are actually working as intended whereas stasised ramps are a seldom used and unexpected derivative from the ability's actual purpose.

Weak or not it all started as a joke in the bw live report forums and it stayed with us since than . Bw players trying to look for familiar things in sc2 and we found that sentries really function like ground arbiters forcefield looks like stasis . Also if the protoss in sc1 and broodwar had these technology there will be no invasion of aiur instead it would have look like a one sided win from the protoss against kerrigan forces.

That's... pretty weak actually. Better call them High Templar, they're both ground units recruited from Gateways who can cast Hallucination, so at least there's that. Besides, Motherships are clearly already Arbiters.
It'd make more sense to call stasis on ramps Force Fields rather than the other way 'round, since Force Fields are actually working as intended whereas stasised ramps are a seldom used and unexpected derivative from the ability's actual purpose.
Weak or not it all started as a joke in the bw live report forums and it stayed with us since than . Bw players trying to look for familiar things in sc2 and we found that sentries really function like ground arbiters forcefield looks like stasis . Also if the protoss in sc1 and broodwar had these technology there will be no invasion of aiur instead it would have look like a one sided win from the protoss against kerrigan forces.

Hey guys, I can't watch the ProLeague. It always says "This video is not availably" (or the German Translation of this as I live in Germany) Is here anyone with the same problem? (i tried it multiple times already and everytime it gives me this message. I couldn't watch any ProLeague yet. Can somebody help me please?

Nothing has happened. The article was written with no knowledge of the dual league. These PL games are in no way an indication of the legitimacy or failures of that article. All the top SC2 players were ex-BW players, with no exception. When these players are allowed to fully transition to SC2 we will see how good they truly can be. Many recent GSL games haven't looked much better if at all compared to the PL games.
Stephano, Thorzain, Grubby are now arguably the best foreigners. None of them ever plaid BW at a decent level, they were war3 players. And Stephano is now a better Zerg than Moon.
The reason why ex Korean BW players are dominating SC2 in Korea is because failed/retired BW pgmer were the only one with the motivation and mechanics to dominate it since they're no other RTS players there. You don't hear about all the ex BW players who failed, precisely, because they failed. Look at Hyun, forgg etc... who were all far better than the likes of MMA or Nestea...

I don't think anybody cares about the foreign scene in relation to the elephant.
The elephant thread was posted ages ago. It was the case then it is not the case now. Some BW players have said that when they tried SC2 a while ago the switch then would have been far easier but that the skill level has increased since then. Moreover, everybody has admitted that it will take a while for BW pros to adjust and of course some will not make it. But the general idea is still there.

Using players who transitioned well after their prime as the basis of your argument is a bad idea. Either way, Forgg is code S level and Hyun is apparently a practice bonjwa.

Being suspicious in the ability of 200+ talented RTS gamers to make "relevant progress" in due time is foolish and laughable. Even through pure statistics, in the worst case scenario, a large handful of them will rise to the top of SC2. Might not be names we're all expecting, but make no mistake, it's going to happen at some point with some of these pros.
The big question is, how long will it take. Most people are expecting at least a few months after they fully transition, which should be around the end of the year. If all of these guys can devote their full resources to practicing one game, it'll happen sooner, but obviously, that's not the case now.
I have no clue why you're commenting on the obvious. Ever since this dual league bullshit was announced, everyone expected the gameplay quality of both games to be shit. And...taadaa...we were (mostly) correct in our premonitions.

So what you are saying is that almost all top players in the scene that is by far the most competetive have BW background. And that there is massive amount of crossover between BW and SC2. And now you're calling the elephant nonsensical? Didn't I just tell people not go to full retard.
The fact that you are able to point out a name or two of people without BW background is not exactly very compelling argument. Of course there is talent outside of BW as well. There are players who have not played any game before SC2 who will end up becoming great. The point is that by far the most amount of talent in RTS games was found in BW and the most talented out of those have only transitioned now. And they will change the scene. It will not happen instantly though.
Mmm, didn't catch this, and don't have time to watch it now -- later tonight! -- but I'm looking forward to seeing how Mini did. I hope his transition to SC2 is a successful one, given how he just suddenly showed up and started playing well -- it'd be sad to see him suddenly disappear due to the game change.
