MVP was the best in the world last year, but he's gotten by on luck and excellent planning this season. squirtle's skill level is definitely a level above MVPs right now, he should take it. Although I do have to admit that MVP has shown some incredible durability this season. Luck wasn't really a factor. I don't know how you think it was. He got by with excellent planning yes. But that's how you get to championships and win them. Squirtle is definitely playing better than Mvp right now, but don't doubt Mvp's ability to find weakness in his opponents. Don't doubt how much more confident he will be than Squirtle sitting in a booth of his fifth finals - at a location he has already played a finals at no less. Don't doubt him like many people did in Ro8 and Ro4. He had some rough showings, but he is still, without a doubt, one of the best Terran in the world. That said, Mvp played Protoss the last two weeks. Unless Mvp can bring something completely new to the table, which even for him is unlikely, Squirtle should be very prepared for Mvp's play style. Really, until the games are being played, it can't be said with confidence who will win. We don't know what has been going on in the last week. NesTea, on Off the Record, said he believed Mvp had a 60% chance to win, but who knows what that really means. It could be him being modest, or it could be him not wanting to say he didn't think his teammate and friend would lose.

Also because Squirtle isn't an ice type its self that means it he won't get his STAB. Basically if a pokemon uses an attack of its own type it gets a 1.5 dmg multiplier. So Squirtle using Icebeam vs a fire poke would be a horrible choice. So Squirtle should use Surf, same attack damage as Ice beam at 95, with 100 percent accuracy (before stat modifiers). 2x dmg for type, and 1.5x dmg for STAB.

If you've reached the point where you get the HM Surf, why the fuck is it still a Squirtle? It would have to be at least a Wartotle by that point unless you are using an everstone or something.
