Is everyone forgetting jinro's 2x Ro4 ? you can't compare the level of play then to now, plus the map pool was a joke back then In a year this map pool / level will be a joke, however Naniwa deserves praise. Same with Jinro. ahah no in a year this map pool / level will not be a joke thats not how it works Dat double standard.

The man was one of the inventors of macro games as terran! Agree. If Nani makes it to the finals it's huge and first then he will pass Jinro for me. "Back then" it was a hard game to, it's not to get underestimated to get to Ro4 TWO times in a row! For me the difference is that the level of Korean dominance went up by an order of magnitude since then. In GSLOpen 1-3 the Koreans weren't nearly as far ahead.

Kinda like saying MacEnroe's Wimbledon wins are no big deal though. I don't know much about tennis, but it's a very established game, so I don't image the skill levels from 30 years ago would be wildly different from today. The better comparison would be MacEnroe vs. people who played tennis in the first months after it was invented.
