Hello everyone! IGN Pro League is thrilled to announce our newest tournament! The Ye Olde Map Tournament features some of the most amazing maps ever created by Blizzard and has a lineup of some of the best players in all of North America! This tournament is meant to be a fun throwback to the early days of StarCraft II and may serve as a way for us to see how far the strategy and skill have progressed since the first time players set foot on Scrap Station or Kulas Ravine. If you're a fan of nostalgia, not-so-balanced maps, and some fun StarCraft games, you better not miss this! Oh, and these games will be played LIVE for your entertainment. =)
We are starting off with two Ro16 matches for the IGN Pro League Ye Olde Map Tournament
When: Wednesday, Apr 18 12:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also have a European re-broadcast as usual at Wednesday, Apr 18 4:30pm GMT (GMT+00:00))
Format
This single-elimination tournament features 16 players from the North America server and is a best of 5 format. This match is being played for the round of 16. The winning player will move on to the Quarter-finals and the loser will be eliminated entirely! Keep in mind that each round increases the prize money!

The old days of starcraft 2 is the silliest idea i've ever heard of, it's not even 2 years old and the ladder maps are still pretty mediocre. Still it's silly fun so it'll be good to watch but I think some people heavily involved in SC2 have maybe lost a bit of perspective on time in general!

Erik Lonnquist is DoA, Kevin Knocke is CatsPajamas. DoA came up with the idea for this tournament. He spouted it out at some point during the IPL Tournament of Champions.

Tyler vs PainUser from some MLG before the Koreans produced an epic battle on this map i think; PU went with his revolutionary thor banshee mix and scanned to snipe observers

Well, finally i saw game with constant fights and skirmishes, which is rare in TvP - usually lategame we get two army blobs avoiding each other... Maybe old maps werent so bad afterall?

Hey IPL, are you gonna release replays for these? I don't think pro players will be concerned with exposing their Steppes of War strategies.

It doesn't make much sense to say an abbreviation like wbc instead of Wannabecool. Short and neat in text, sure, but doubleyoubeecee isn't shorter to say and it sounds worse. Bad flow, you know. Casters have a tendency to do the same with DongRaeGu (DRG is not quite as bad though).
Good games from Violet. Too bad wbc couldn't take a better advantage of his time in the spotlight. Violet already has his fair share of the fame-cake.
Edit: Unless he doesn't want to go under the name "Wannabecool" anymore, of course. I guess Doa knows which he prefers. ^^
