Thinking jjakji is going to take the whole thing. If it plays out like in the winners bracket then creater should have a rematch with jjakji and lose to him again.

Rooting for HerO, but he'll go to Vegas anyway, and so will Creator, so Jjakji winning this is fine too. I just hope there will be great games

lol wrong thread....and i just spoiled myself for todays games
|
Come on Jjakji! just one more...
|
Go Jjakji! Hero and Creator are going anyway, so Jjakji is most deserving of this win.
|
So....ya, since creator and hero are already going, does jjakji kind of default win? (for the trip ofc, money will be given accordingly)
Or does that mean that if Hero or Creator won that they would just get a free trip and would mean less cost to the team, who can then use that ticket for someone else?
|
Jjakji for the win! Would be so cool if Jjakji was crowned IPL4 champion.
Imagine the outcries from all the HerO fans in the world if we had Extended Series in this tournament.

No Jjakji still needs to win. If Hero wins, his trip is paid for, but he's going regardless, along with his entire team. Creator's trip is already paid for, but I suppose he could win one of his teammates an Open Bracket spot perhaps. Basically the second possibility you said.
Jjakji has the most to gain from this tournament.

Come on Jjakji, one more series to do this!
Would suck so hard for the one player left not already going to lose out ><
He looked very solid all the way through to this point too.

Go go Jjakji - i would love to see him at ipl! We need representation of ns hoseo at foreign events!

Does the winner of the LB have to win two finals against Jjakji, or have some other kind of disadvantage?

There is basically no way that is a spoiler. It is about as much of a spoiler as saying that HerO will not win because no tenth Liquid player has been presented by IGN as ready for group play.
Which begs the question. Will Liquid bring Bumblebee (we all know that monobattle heroism will translate to single player fame) or Nazgul if HerO wins?

Creator has a spot anyways from GSTL so he is going to play in the Open either way, and Hero is playing the Open Bracket as well. Not a spoiler, as the only difference would be that they would get some additional cash for winning the tournament and have their travel expenses covered.
|
Hoping Jjakji wins just because the other two possible teams are all going to be at IPL 4 anyway.
|
jjakji wins this. It's hard to win both series as jjakji gets two lives with the double elimination format.

Yeah, this for me is a huge luxury problem. Love HerO and never want him to lose, but it would be incredibly neat to get to see Jjakji in Las Vegas.
|
I like how more people are voting for HerO despite him being 3-0'ed by Creator in the Upper Bracket, no bias at all there
Jjakji should take this regardless of opposition though I feel, although Creator is more than capable of beating him as well.
|
Jjakji to win so we can see his handsome self at IPL4.
|
Yesterday, when the winners bracket finals were played, Nazgul commended Jjakji for his play. And a while ago, before Taeja was even acquired, heosat (TLAF headsponsor guy) when commenting in a thread about Liquid in need of more "Terrans/Protoss" said on Reddit that they "are aware and are working on a solution or two". Something in the works here?
But then again it would be 10 Liquid players going into IPL4 and HayprO would have been wrong.
Either way, hoping for some great games tonight!

I love hero and liquid, and want to see them win as much as possible, but for this tournament I'm rooting for Jjakji. I think having him at IPL would be excellent.

NSHoseo would take a big hit, and I wouldn't like that. It'll be great for Liquid, but Liquid is already a team with strong finances. If I remember correctly, NSHoseo definitely isn't a rich team by any means, and losing their ace and only GSL champion could really hurt them. The benefit to Liquid would probably be less than the blow to NSHoseo.
But this is all speculation anyways, and I think the posts were referring to Taeja. Go Jjakji!

It would also make for a hilarious trend of some Liquid member dropping some off hand comment completely unrelated to signings and it coming true. Next we will have HotBid photo bombing unsuspecting ESFI reporters wearing aviators where you can barely, just barely see the name of the next signing.
So no, Jjakji will stay and hopefully NSHoseo will continue to grow as a team. Would love to see a resurgence of Sage and see Seal establish a foothold as a top 5 Zerg in the upcoming GSLs. So many interesting prospects and a really different type of Korean team when looking at it from the outside.

It is kind of interesting, because I have seen him play some pretty sorry PvPs against players HerO pretty consistently will beat. Not sure whether that has been nerves by Creator, whether he has improved a lot or whether it is merely a thing where Creator just has what it takes to beat HerO head to head over and over.
Some pretty damn good PvP play in general from Creator though. He could be so good if he shores up some of the few weaknesses he has.
|
Awesome decision making and micro by creator, even the stalkers blinking into his base was handled really well.

I guess this makes at least a bit of sense. Hero's PvP in Korea is sub-50%, but Creator's PvP isn't too impressive honestly either.

On the other hand, I think most of HerO's Korean stats are slightly outdated by now. His Korean vT is certainly way lower than the skill he seems to possess in that matchup at the moment. But yeah, neither of them have stats to be PvP gods or anything, on the other hand the play by itself by Creator has been absolutely gorgeous and very clutch.

Usually when I've seen Creator in PvP I've thought it was pretty meh, especially compared to his PvT but then he wins 6-0 against a guy with good PvP which is some feet in such a luck based matchup.

On the other hand, the one game in their previous match that went late game Jjakji absolutely smashed Creator. That was mostly down to just one piss poor engagement from Creator though, so it does not tell us that much. But I would not just say that late game is favoring Creator no matter what here, Jjakji is good at the matchup too, cheese or no cheese.

Its too hard to toss to engage up that 3rd ramp, Jjakji had good positioning so Creator couldn't really make the most of that horrific engage. One of the reasons I dislike this map.

He unfortunately had to back out of attending.

Jjakji really outmicro'd Creator in the last battle. Creator had so many stalkers and archons, he should never have lost 2 collosi before the battle even starts.
|
To all the players from "where did the Ts go thread": jjakji dominated a 200/200 battle w/o sick micro.

I don't think so, as it would have been announced, and the casters just said he wasn't going.

DRG is pretty much the only player you'd really want to be there who isn't.

W/O sick micro? He sniped in the middle of the battle, he used vikings to kill 4 collo before the real fight even starts through positioning, he dodged storms. What more does he need to do to have sick micro?
|
On April 03 2012 10:18 -_- wrote: To all the players from "where did the Ts go thread": jjakji dominated a 200/200 battle w/o sick micro. Jjakji played that game really well tho, he always had a lead and never let it go. He also did some good storm dodges at times and had decent ghost control
Jjakji going for a nice scv train this game i bet
|
Bomber's been doing this too lately, he usually expands at 4:30 off of 3 rax, works well on ladder but I'd like to see it in a tourney game
|
Wow just tuned in and I see Hero got 6-0'd by Creator. Has anyone ever lost so many times to the same player in one tournament without even taking a single game before?
|
Creator with some major blunders...
|
I do this every TvP, the rax -> CC -> 2 more rax -> CC -> gas -> tech lab and stim -> all 4 gas at about 50 supply.
It shall now be known as the EmpireKas RE.
|
I saw someone take the islands with dual nydus. What game was that?
|
When Jjakji's drop was at the island I got so excited for a bit

Classic no observer with army loss.

1 more game. Another great game of TvP.

Wow holy shit how the fuck? Jjajki is such a beast lol, I thought he was so so far behind lol

thats how you TvP late game folks.
|
Ugh. EMPs are brutal against Creator's constantly clumped units.
|
Man Creator is falling apart. Those last two engagements were HORRIBLE.
|
Creator needs to harass with some warp prism or something. I am getting a little tired of deathball to deathball fights.
|
Jjakji's engagement is crazy good. When the protoss army ran into the natural, I thought Jjakji was in trouble because he was clumped up. But he uses SCVS to barricade the bottom route, sends a few marine/marauders around to spread fire from colossus, damn.
|
rofl. 2 colossus and 3 templars, and the rest of the army food in zealots.
|
IMO Hero had a better shot at beating Jjakji

MKP's early-mid game and Jjakji's late game vP are unbelievable.

Yeah, Jjaking on team Polt would be unstoppable. I really thought he was in trouble when Creator pushed his natural but the sentry EMPs were soooooo good ^^

Creator doesn't truly need it. The majority of their team will go regardless.

If a 3CC "RE" holds off a 4-gate, either the 4-gate is a terrible build or the game has serious issues or Creator screwed up badly.

Ok seriously how could he possibly have known. That was just super gamesense.
|
wow how did Jjakji know that

God, that gamesense. It's obscene.
|
|
Starsenses tingling, Creator cannot win at this point unless Jjakji fucks up an incredible amount, he's just so far ahead economically and is beginning his tech at the same time. If it had been a tech allin, Creator would be in a little better of a position but 4 gate vs 3cc...wow
|
Amazing spider sense from jjakji!
|
5-1 already. He'll go 6-1 if he wins this. Which he will. Go Jjakji!

Taeja's not a big fan of TvT either. It was 3-2 Taeja's favour when they met in Code S jjakji's TvT is not bad, it's just very timing-based.

Sick play by jjakji! Cant begin to describe how happy i am to see him get a chance at IPL4! I wrote a short recap of the grand finals mainly for the Jjakji fanclub but thought i'd post it here aswell incase there is someone who missed the games/dont feel like watching rebroadcast. Tried to enjoy the games at the same time so i surely missed a few things but you get the idea.

Creator opens up with a safe and rather late first expansion, Jjakji goes for a double command center build pretty early on. Jjakji manages to get a few good drops during the mid-game aswell as getting a cancel on Creator's third base. The lategame composition is bio/ghost/vikings for JJ and Colossi/Archon/gateway units for Creator. Jjakji manages to win a few crucial engagements due to having a slight upgrade advantage and landing good EMP's. Jjakji somehow manages to depower 3 gateways with a few scv's that he sent into Creator's main to get rid of supply for units, Jjakji's supply advantage is too high and with yet another base going down, Creator is forced to GG
1-0 NSHoseo Jjakji.
Game 2: Creator spawns in the 9 a clock position vs Jjakji in the 3 a clock position on Metropolis. Jjakji opens up 3 rax and Creator goes for a 1-gate expand but Creator is not responding to the unusually high marine count. Jjakji pulls a few scv's and builds a bunker at Creator's natural and with a bad forcefield Creator traps himself into his own main. However Creator holds off the push and Jjakji is in an economic disadvantage as Creator goes for a quick third. Creator then goes for double forge while Jjakji is only upgrading with a single engineering bay, leaving Jjakji one upgrade behind for the time being. A small force of Jjakji is caught in the middle of the map, and at the exact moment Jjakji drops 3 medivacs into Creator's main with about an even trade on both ends. Jjakji forces a cancel on Creator's fourth with a drop, this triggers Creator to attack and Jjakji gets in a good position with his vikings and takes out all the colossi and archons before Creator retreats, how ever due to the early economic disadvantage for Jjakji he is still slightly behind on supply. Jjakji forces an engagement on Creator's side of the map with their main armies, cloaked ghosts and viking get in perfect positions and the colossi does almost instantly along with emp on the whole army, jjakji crushes through the zealots and Creator GG's!
2-0 NSHoseo Jjakji.
Game 3: Jjakji spawn in the top and Creator spawns in the bottom on Daybreak. Creator goes for a 4-gate opening on 1 base while Jjakji goes for a double CC again! Jjakji somehow gets a read on creator without even scouting the gateways and starts building bunkers on the highground. Creator retreats and takes his natural, but obviously behind due to the agressive opening that was completely shut down. Creator goes for a third and gets double forges at the same time, Jjakji scouts it and decides to drop the main and go for an attack on the third at the same time. The drop acts mainly as a distraction and Jjakji crushes Creator's third base and is up by 30 supply. Jjakji goes for a head on attack at Creator's natural, it ends up in an advantage for Creator and he closes the supply gap by slightly. Despite the early double forges, Jjakji is still slightly ahead on upgrades. Jjakji goes for another engagement at the third of Creator, but Jjakji's army is just too big and Creator is forced to GG!
3-0 NSHoseo Jjakji.

All three players today had some ridiculous games in the tournament. Is so nice to see Koreans playing on Korea server, was a bit ESV Korean Weekly'esque, with less adventurous maps but more star power. All in all I have really, really enjoyed the tournament. And it is amazing to have Jjakji ending up taking the spot for IPL4. What a marvelous event that is shaping up to be.
|
herO would have made a better games for sure, he doesn't turtle as hard as Creator. Creator played exactly how Jj wanted him to.

I have a feeling IPL4 is going to crush MLG in viewership with the excitement that's building up around both the Open Bracket and Pool Play for it.

are you sherlock holmes' descendant? ipl has over 5 times mlg's prize pool and that alone guarantees your statement. it would be a feeling if the tournaments had a similar prizepool and you're actually risking something. All you're doing is saying something obvious and that you have a feeling that it will happen.

Jjakji's TvP certainly looked a cut above just above any Protoss I can think of at the moment. Perhaps someone not playing for a standard Protoss three base style would fare better, as much as TvP late game can look ugly for Terran, Jjakji makes it look Terran favored with such gorgeous positioning and engagements. Going heavy Colossi certainly looks ugly against him.

Yeah Jjakji's TvP has got to be one of the best in starcraft 2 currently. Can probably make a good debate of whether Jjakji or MKP have the current best TvP in the metagame, I don't know if any other terran players do so well at TvP in recent form? Polt and Thorzain used to be unstoppable in TvP and now, though still good, I probably wouldn't bet on them on MU alone regardless of the opponent like I would Jjakji or MKP. Maybe Puma.
Is there anyone else at this level in TvP you guys can identify? ELO has Bomber, alive, Supernova and Taeja up there, but imo both Bomber and Supernova's TvP has fallen from it's previous level. Supernova did top his group with just TvP but still.

Not sure how I would rank players in TvP right now. I do however feel that the matchup is in a state of flux; in my estimation it has been set back greatly when it comes to actual development due to the six months of 1-1-1 being so prevalent in Korea. Whereas just about every other matchup being developed and maturing during that time, TvP late game was largely unexplored and seemed very Protoss favored in many ways.
I think it will still take some time for us to get the full picture of what is going on there. Jjakji's late game and MKP's early to midgame certainly look very strong; it seems as if many of the things that made Terran look very susceptible to both early game pressure and late game domination by Protoss have been largely counteracted by two different styles. At the very highest level, I think we need to see Protoss develop even more to contest with MKP and Jjakji for sure. Which means more babysitting of the deathball, better micro and positioning as well as other things that will come with experimentation and maturing.
As much as TvP sometimes holds true to the stereotype of having one deciding battle and the losing side never recovering, I am not convinced that will be the ultimate fate of the matchup. It might still be the case of course, but I am very much thinking that, as players become better in all aspects of the game, we will see a lot more coming out of both sides. Certainly it is good to see people with extreme skill sets such as Jjakji's positioning and micro in end game confrontations and MKP's early game aggression transitioning into midgame harass and never letting the Protoss really breathe come to a forefront. I would very much hope at least that we will see the games where both sides just macro up to three bases and one side wins will be forgotten in good time.
Just kind of amazed by both Jjakji and MKP at the moment. And feel very happy to see such strong play emerge in a matchup that so often feels very uneventful and largely lopsided.

Prize pool means very little, it matters who's coming. MLG was killer last year in the excitement it brought. It's waned down so much, for me at least. And that was back when the winner only got $5k.
