It's been kind of the protoss style lately ever since parting started taking 6 min 3rd base. Usually you see them take a fast 3rd and then power up on a lot of gates, though and then get double ups and aoe

I don't know. If your opponent goes double ups and you don't hit any kind of timing prior to that investment paying off, you're just behind. I don't see how that's superb play. Once 1-1 was done it was pretty clear that MC was going to need a miracle to pull off a win.
