Polt rolled the dice, Stephano rolled another dice, Polt's came out ahead.
CC first -> Factory is very risky, but that was a good meta-game choice by Polt, since he's never seen Stephano bust out early lings.
Going pure lings is very risky as well, but that was not a good meta-game choice by Stephano, since he's seen Polt do this hellion marauder timing before.
The irony is, and the thing you guys aren't seeing, is that Stephano went roaches TWO games in a row thinking he needed it against this kind of push. He WAS playing safe against it.
The one game he goes pure lings, he loses to it. Sad but it's the issue with not saccing an overlord. Drone scout isn't that useful in this case because you can't see what's inside the Terran's base.

He was eliminated by MaNa at some tourney in Europe last year, I can't recall which one it was.

So who can actually take Stephano on in a straight up zvt? I'd really like to see him against MMA, MVP or jjakji. Not taking any credit away from Polt, but it seems like if you let Stephano macro up he will just overrun you. I think he has BETTER infestor control/BL/late game army control than ANY zerg right now, including DRG. And he shuts down drops fairly easily plus likes to play safe with spines.

MC pretty much owns foreigners in non PvP match ups. I'm sure he's lost a few but yeah, can't remember either.

Spines and a decent sim city?
I mean this is not a new build and has been beaten multiple times.Hell, I have seen it beaten with a good controlled Roach Ling army so its not even a ¨hard counter¨

Game 1 was as much of a macro game as any and Polt won.
All of the Assembly games were macro games too and Polt won.

You scout it (and you can, because making marauders = not making marines, so ovies get in).
Then you make spines and queens and lings to hold it back. That's how it's generally done. If you get mutas or infestors out and don't take too much damage from it, you pretty much autowin.

Sorry if this isn't the place to ask, but when do VODs go up for gold members? I was at work during most of the games and just came back and saw stephano vs polt and would love to see some of the earlier games.

It's cheesy in the sense that if Zerg was meta-gaming you he'd go roach baneling -> mutas and you'd lose on a lot of maps. The map choice matters here - this map, with cross positions, Polt has enough time to get out marines and turrets if he sees mutas. It's a good strategy to use here.

Nice to see HuK doing well and not just at PvP, two solid PvZ wins that no one can criticise and say were easy opponents. HayprO taking a set of NaNi is a pretty huge upset, hopefully Banjo can have another excellent MLG run.

Polt tried the same build on BelShir Winter at Lonestar Clash. Stephano himself went for a Roach Ling timing. They traded several times with these compositions. Stephano won in the end.

umm any terran in code S can beat Stephano and Stephano IF/BL control is not better than DRG. Keep in mind that Polt didn't qualifiy for Code S through normal format.
