Can't they only choose players in bottom 8 of GSL rankings though? That'd be:
Virus, TheStC, Maru, BBBB, July, Polt, Naniwa, Squirtle

I think DRG will choose Naniwa, and Genius will pick Virus/Maru

naniwa is a big threat for DRG, their games were so close at dreamhack/winterarena and naniwa beat him 2-0 @providence.

Seed,Virus and InCa safer picks for DRG.

I agree with those safer picks. I think DRG can study the "lower level" Code S players (especially the Terrans) a lot easier.

Congrats on 1000 btw

July's stepped up his ZvZ lately (2-0 zenio), and I wouldn't want to bet on such a flippy matchup as a guaranteed win.

Winter Arena wasn't close at all iirc, and Nani's 2-0 at providence was because of DRG's apparent food poisoning haha, and Nani's FFE or die trying has been since figured out. with DRG's amazing ZvP of late, I reckon Nani is his easiest choice of the bottom 8. Virus is probably a good choice too, but he may leave that one for Genius or something.
Not sure if Seed or Inca are eligible, but Inca is probably a solid choice if he is.

i dont believe this "food poisoning" thing, because of DRG played winner bracket final at providence.

and winter arena games were all about mind games.

NaNiwa is still a big threat for anyone in GSL.

Man it's awsome to see July play, always makes me want to start up sc2 right away. I feel bad for Boxer though, I wonder how long he will keep on playing. It must be tough going from being a superstar to fighting through code a, I think he might be better of going for a 100% coaching and mentor role in slayers.

Virus is pretty damn cheesy, and good at it too. Maru showed great games in run-up to Code S. July/Polt/Squirtle are bad choices just based on quality of recent play. BBBB is borderline.

STC looked shaky and Naniwa has historically been a complete walkover in GSL matches (not to mention rather 1-dimensional), so those would 2 + BBBB would be the best choices IMO.

Those long session tournaments where you have no time to prepare anything specific usually cause more "upsets". In code S where DRG will study and prepare properly I think naniwa is no threat to him whatsoever. That said, I do agree that virus/inca are still safer options.

No, DRG outclasses Naniwa so hard especially his one dimensional playstyle.

For fuck sake, can a Korean losing ever be explained without reference to some mystery illness, or jetlag? Nani outplayed him at Providence, and there have been other extremely close series between the two.

Boxer has so much on his plate right now, being the head coach and likely running some administrative duties for his team. It's amazing he is still trying to get back into code S.

I usually do agree that its silly when people make excuses for koreans but in this instance, food poisoning is pretty good excuse.
