SC2 is "dying" compared to LoL.

We need HoTS to spice things up and bring back some of the viewers. But it will never go past 140k views, LoL is a casual game with the stream in the game client which means any player can click on the stream and watch it. Starcraft has a more dedicated community but unfortunately the developer, Blizzard, loses greatly to Riot Games when it comes to promoting the game.

Did you guys ever questioned the viewership of the said game? What demographic plays LoL? Most likly people who don't want to buy shit. Why? They play a free-to-play for a good reason. So if you want to compare the viewers please consider demographics and what that says about actual buying-power.

Gratz MC you wrecked this week.

Isn't avilo supposed to be a professional (at least, that's what I gather from his presence in the TLPD)? Kind of sad that he's balance whining in pretty much every LR thread when Protoss wins... not that his balance whine really means anything because if he wants to pull the "I'm better than you so I know what I'm talking about" card then I can find you several Protoss pros leagues better of him that disagree with him (Oz, Genius, for example)

I dont know why he nevers gets banned. If i did the same whine over and over like he does, i would be long gone by now.

I think a lot of people are there for LoL. Which is now the "main" attraction if IEM.

the main attraction depends on which areas they visit.

For instance in china it was LOL, In brazil it was sc2, in Kiev it was sc2, in Germany ( this one it is LOL)

It always depends.

Any place that attracts more LoL fans then sc2 fans are places to be avoided imo.

Yeh, how dare they like something that isn't what we like ? -____-.

Yup and I don't like them for it

That's just sad tbh.

Nope, that game only gets as many fans as it does because its F2P not because its a superior game. I play LoL and sc2 is way more entertaining to watch even if that wasn't the greatest series ever.

I still don't understand how PuMa is able to do good in foreign tournies (except in TvZ lol Ret & Stephano smashed him :D) but he can't even qualify for code A against players who probably won't do as good as him in the foreign scene.

Yeah for sure

If 90% of the people there sit down for an entire BO5 of Starcraft when they have never heard about the game we dont have to worry about the game's future.

OMG get it for fucks sake:
a ticket for the whole weekend is 79€(presale) ask yourself if you would spend that to JUST see starcraft. (one day: 34€ presale, 39€ buy it there)

you have to mention that you get cebit tickets for free everywhere all over the internet.

Pretty much this. Please for once google "Cebit". You should notice why the crowd isn't as energetic.

A Pass for one day, if you buy it via pre-sale: 34€. Ticket for the whole weekend: 79€. Maybe now you understand?

Maybe you leave that evaluation to people who actually know what they are talking about. Sorry but you have no clue what IEM's numbers looked like in the past.

Yep even for LoL. Maybe the grand finals will have more but i remember them having way over 100k in the past. Maybe even 150k? Dunno anymoer.

IEM is kinda just ok tournament compare to what we have. There's so many good SC2 tournament that I can't watch them all. -_-"

Ok? what shouldve been better? I mean the crowd, ok, but thats nothing to blame IEM for, and everything ran smooth, great casters with caster recap of games. Players were able to cast, you had a breakout player and a really nice final. What else do you want?

on a side note: i think this IEM event had the best set of casters i've ever witnessed in sc2! (except maybe HSC but you can't really compare that to other events)

Dying is taking it too far though. SC2 is pretty stable. GSL finals got more viewers than ever before according to john and mr. Chae. I don't think SC2 will ever get as many viewers as LoL, it's because it's free to play and casual oriented that's all. Not even Dota 2 (As a game, far superior to LoL), will get as many viewers as LoL, simply based on how the paying models are.

Never found LoL to be that interesting to watch, whether it was because it's such a slow game compared to StarCraft or because it's so much easier... or because I'm just biased >.> But I tried watching it (was forced to at IPL3 during the finals) and I fell asleep x.x And the games are soooo looooong....

i think the main thing about LoL that makes it interesting is watching the teamwork and seeing how coordinated they are especially in terms of ganking and initiating fights. But LoL definitely looks alot slower than dota 2. Only reason LoL is so popular is because its easier to play casually and its free lol

Ah gotcha Yeah I suppose the team aspect (in-game) plays a role in its success. Thanks ^^

Free is always good too lol.

Wow so many people with so little knowledge re-evaluation the state of SC2 every weekend. I cant keep reading this bullshit.

Last GSL had 3 times more viewer than previous GSLs.:D

Weird, I guess it's getting more populair in Korea, because there are less and less people playing on ladder each season.

Can we get a front page article saying " sc2 is not dying, shut up! " ?

Thanks.
