Accomplishments are accomplishments regardless of when they were achieved. By that logic BW legends have earned nothing which is silly.
Actually it is true. BW Legends have earned nothing in SC2, if they don´t earn it in SC2. Or would you say, that Tyler, Mondragon are some of the best SC2-players in the foreign world?

I'm not defending it. What better system do you have that fits the Winner's bracket, Loser's bracket better?
EDIT: You're suggestion has to be within the concept of allowing the format of winners/loser's bracket
