Everyone including Stephano lol.. he just said ghosts are bad and Zerg is good.

Also, I dont know why people keep saying Terrans are doing "extremely well" in tournaments. Korean Terrans are. Foreign Terrans have been struggling for a very long time. The last one to win a major live event was Jinro at MLG DC... well over a year ago.

well, koreans win all of the tournaments (korean or foreign), so its not surprising that we dont see non-foreign terrans winning anything. ;-)

Not true.

We've had Huk, Naniwa, idra, Stephano, and Dimaga win. Mana has been in the finals 3 times.

what tourney did NaNi win with koreans in it?

MLG Global Invitational. Took down Nestea and Mvp.

Stephano is the perfect weekend tournament player because he says that he plays completely on feel so I wouldnt expect him to do well in a format like GSL were he has to prepare for a certain style and others can prepare for him. His strength lies in his ability to make on the fly decision like the in the game against grubby when grubby blocked both of stephano's expos with pylons and Stephano made 8 lings and sent them directly to grubbys main and won the game outright.

If he can react well to strange builds/situations on the fly, thats actually pretty good for GSL where people prepare special builds and don't play standard every game.
I think it will be a new challenge for him to prepare builds himself. I think he is capable of that. For example he is actually amazing with mutalisks, he just doesnt think they are that good.

There was also a huge break in foreign tournaments.

He's solid with Muta but I wouldn't say he's amazing. There's more to muta play than muta micro.

The MLG finals + MLG invitational matches that preceded it were the most impressive games I've thus far seen from a foreigner, until the meltdown against Leenock. I know he didn't win it mind, but Nani seems to compete in relatively few tournaments for a top, top foreigner. Seems like he would rather just remain in Korea and have a proper crack at the GSL.

Your anecdotal evidence is simply wrong. Stephano is the only top zerg i've heard to say zerg is good. Even Dongraegu says Zerg is underpowered, specifically against Protoss. The fact that Korean terrans are doing well in all events, regardless of location, shows that Terrans can, and do win. Because the fact is, Korean terrans are the best in the world, we don't have foreign terrans who can match Korean players as of today. Also, it's very misleading to say that Foreign terrans don't win Major 'live' events, because you're trying to use that to prove that foreign terrans don't win anything, which is ridiculous because players like Kas and Thorzain have been doing well this year, getting good results in tournaments such as the ONOG invitational and the MSI Pro Cup.

I think Stephano could do well in the GSL, as he did damn well in the Blizzard Cup (only losing a pretty close game to MVP and a failed cheese against MC, I believe), but I don't know if the Korean Terrans would let him play so passive and get to the late game.

It's kinda like Creator. When Creator can get his double forge going, his third up quickly, etc, he destroys Terran. Going into his Up and Down group, both Terrans just cheesed his ass and sent him back to Code A. I think Stephano could do very well though depending on the group.

Despite all his success, there are still quite a lot Stephano haters out there who can't stop playing down his skill. If he lost, he was "clearly overhyped" - now that he won a tournament AGAIN, he only had mediocre opponents.

I wondered who these haters are - so I looked up their nationalities in this and other threads and drew a surprising conclusion: The vast majority of his haters are from Canada.
Why?
Why of all TL.net users do so many Canadian ones dislike Stephano?
Is it that they can't deal with the fact that Huk lost the throne of being the best foreigner? I can't think of a better reason.

Hummm, the game vs MVP wasn't close at all, MVP just did a push marine/blue flame and rolled over him straight away. Against MC he lost to a 2 base allin ))

did you look at that list? There were not 2-3 huge foreign tournaments per month. IEM's were pretty much it from DH Winter to MLG Arena/Assembly. Notice everything else is GSL

Idk why, being successful might always get you haters.
But you shouldnt care about and ignore them. And certainly not generalize like this.

Are you even listening to what you are saying? If you actually read that list you'll be hard pressed to find any foreigners that win tournaments in general. And most of the tournament wins are by Terrans. Of course you'll go on to point out the runs of Huk and Naniwa, but the thing is when Huk was winning tournaments, he was considered the best protoss at that time, and Naniwa beat the best Koreans in the world, show me a foreign terran that can do that.

by huge break, you mean only 2-3 huge tournaments per month?

http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Premier_Tournaments

did you look at that list? There were not 2-3 huge foreign tournaments per month. IEM's were pretty much it from DH Winter to MLG Arena/Assembly. Notice everything else is GSL

no. i sent you the link because i thought it might prove my point, but i didnt bother to check it before to make sure it proved my point. what kind of stupid question is that?

there are two or more "premier" foreign tournaments every month just like i said in my original post.

It's so cute how Stephano wins and then everyone starts saying that Terran is under powered while Zerg is over powered. He played really well, and Terrans are still doing extremely well in tournaments.

Mana has been in the finals 3 times.

lol. the last foreigner win was in october.

There was also a huge break in foreign tournaments.

Are you even listening to what you are saying? If you actually read that list you'll be hard pressed to find any foreigners that win tournaments in general. And most of the tournament wins are by Terrans. Of course you'll go on to point out the runs of Huk and Naniwa, but the thing is when Huk was winning tournaments, he was considered the best protoss at that time, and Naniwa beat the best Koreans in the world, show me a foreign terran that can do that.

why can foreign toss and zergs beat the best Koreans in the world, but "show me a foreign terran that can do that."

Everyone is either delusional, a nihlilst, or dead from suicide.
