The supposed best player in the world should not get knocked out in the Ro16.

If that were always the case, wouldn't the world be rather boring?

Right. There's a reason why we don't start at the Ro8, after all.

No more MVP?

MKP wins this GSL season. Calling it right here right now.

Everyone I'm sure was practicing even harder than they usually would due to MVP being in their group.

Talk about ridiculously dissapointing. I mean let's look at the factor here of MVP picking Gumiho for his group and being a TvT god.

Yes Gumiho played very well, you have to to beat a player like MVP even on a bad day, but MVP played like fucking shit and I think it's undeniable. Artosis made the comment about not moving around a non-max mech army and that only scrapes the surface of the poor mistakes and decisions MVP made. Uggh really wasn't expecting to see 10x better play than MVP out of Alive today.

Might as well at Jjakji to that group if your listing GSL Champions still remaining.

People are really premature picking MMA to win imo. I still dislike his vs Protoss and vs the fantastic Supernova plus Puzzle/Oz (who are super streaky but could easilly have one of their good days) he's not even a lock to get out of his group.

MC and Parting could also beat MMA as could DRG.

MMA is definitely the favourite but this isn't anything like a guarantee.

Absolutely. This is very up in the air. Honesty even Genius could take the win this GSL. We'll see how the brackets look in the RO8 but until then it's TOTALLY anyone's cup.

Well it's just a list of names and I didn't write it... and DRG may not be a GSL champion but did win the "King's of Kong".

Then again, MKP won an AoL too...

At least MVP managed to get the Sen/Sniper match rather than the Fin/StC match. He should get back in to Code S next season without any major problems.

MVP should have topped his group with any major problems. If MVP plays the same way as he did today he is going to be Code A next season.

Dude, Sen and Sniper are MVP fodder even if MVP happens to be slumping.

We'll see I'm a Sen fan myself so I'm a bit biased there From what I've seen today even Curious could have taken him out.

Curious is Code A Champion so "even Curious" is not a good measurement for Sen or Sniper, i guess

Holy shit, I signed off after Gumiho's first loss against MVP thinking that MVP had it in the bag, but Gumiho defies my doubts again. Huge respect for him.

well watched all the vods, gumiho crazy tactics really tore mvp apart. those viking landings wow. mvp decision to go bio on the last map was also pretty stupid since that map is pretty mech favored.

MVP got the easiest group yet he doesn't advance. His last GSL win was the one before blizzcon yet people were still calling him the best lol.

I think MVP should really just shut it down for 2-3 months or however long it takes for him to get whatever treatment/surgery he needs to get his wrist issues resolved. He'll have no trouble getting back into GSL if he drops out due to missing matches and hopefully we'll see him back to his old, dominant self.

His body of work over the course of 2011 was vastly superior to that of anyone else. He put together wins in GSL/WCG/Blizzcon as well as deep runs into GSL November/MLG Providence during the last parts of the year. How on earth does that scream anything but "I'm better than everyone", let alone "lol" at the suggestion of him being the best player?

Just 1 season doesn't make him not the best player anymore.

For pretty much the whole of last year, MVP was undeniably the best player in the world for a consistent period.

He lost in one group. Big fucking deal. Nobody else bar MMA (who is really looking dodgy with the Return of Protoss to GSL) is even in the running for the title.

Until he loses for more than 1 month and somebody else can take up his mantle, I don't care what Waxy says: MVP still No.1

People need to shut up about SC2 volatility, right now. Since MLG Anahiem, MVP has been top 4 in EVERY tournament (bar AOL1, the joke one) he has entered. He has been incredibly consistent, and even him leaving early is still getting top 16 in the hardest tournament on the planet. Up to this point MVP has been super consistent, him leaving today had nothing to do with the game being volatile, he played demonstrably worse than his opponents.
