I think this tournament is more aimed at showcasing matches between people that fans would like to see perform rather than the absolute top class of players. Of course it slightly weakens the tournament field and makes it less prestigious, but I think a lot of people are interested in seeing how such people like Destiny, Flo, Tyler, etc would do.
Myself and LuckyFool were invited because we were the initial representatives for ONOG's DC + NY barcraft kickoffs.

This is our very first tournament and we're relatively new. We contacted every pro that we had contact information for. As we do these tournaments and the word gets out hopefully it will be easier to get in touch with people.
Pokebunny and LuckyFool played a showmatch called a 'barfight' at our barcrafts. Pokebunny played in the NYC bar while LuckyFool played in the Chicago bar. If any pro ever competes in showmatches at our barcrafts in DC, Baltimore, Chicago, or NYC, we will probably give them an invite into the tournament.
That being said, I do think that these are all great players and that it will be an exciting great tournament. Personally, I'm a fan of Pokebunny and Incontrol and I can't wait to see them make the haters in this thread eat their words.
