I'm trying to sort it out in my head and I can think of maybe one situation where this could occur in the format though I may certainly be wrong and perhaps the way the games are scheduled will sort this out. I just feel that a player should obviously never be in a situation where losing can be more beneficial than winning, not sure if this could occur or not in this tournament format. Once again though, cheers on a great tournament with a solid prize pool. I'm also really happy with the first two invites, good job. Honestly, I don't think that's ever the players fault to throw a match when it legitimately benefits them to lose a match.. not sure how it could be solved though.

The only way to avoid this as far as I know is to run both matches at the same time, something we can't do. I doubt this will be an issue in our tournament, since players are also playing for tips as well as wins. You don't encourage viewers to tip you if you throw games.

I agree it's not the player's fault. This is something that should be sorted out within the tournament format. I don't really think Stephano or BratOK are particularly at fault for their incident because the tournament they were playing in put them in a position where they had a better chance at winning the tournament if they lost their games. A player should want to win all their games in an ideal situation, they should be expected to try their best even if there isn't that much to gain(particularly if they are being paid simply for participating) but if they're put in a situation where they could benefit from losing due to the format of the tournament, I don't think it's their fault for throwing. I understand that playing both groups at the same time is not feasible, another alternative, and one to consider in the future may be having a separate small prize for winning your group. In this manner, throwing a game to get an opponent you're more comfortable against, would cost you a potential 50-150 dollars. This would force players to weight their options much more carefully, a confirmed bonus for winning, or a potentially easier opponent that they could still lose to. The tips should help in this situation regardless, but I don't know if I would personally withhold tipping a player myself if they threw a game so they could have a better chance at the whole tournament, I'd probably be understanding to why they did it.

I'm a fan of both, don't get me wrong, but there seems to be enough issues between the two that they'd, by choice, try to steer clear of each other. Which makes me sad, because I think TB on SotG would be awesome.
