As many Starcraft fans and viewers may know, the end of 2011 brought about the dawn of a new online tournament in the Korean scene, the KSL (Korean StarCraft II League Daily). The KSL is a series of daily matches between top Korean players from the teams Prime, oGs, NSHoSeo, MvP, ZeNEX, StarTale, Incredible Miracle, and FXOpen. After already kicking off our Team League for 2012 with the KSL 2012 Opening Ceremonies the KSL is proud to present the epic beginning to our 2012 Individual League: The KSL 2012 Grand Opening. Watch 32 of the best players from our 2011 Individual Matches battle it out in a cutthroat gauntlet to the very end. Starting January 7th, some of the best players in Korea will begin the tough road to the finals.
Be sure to tune in to the stream on own3d.tv at the regular time for KSL 13:00 GMT (+00:00) for these fantastic matches brought to you by the Korean Starcraft II League and own3D.tv!
This. Is. Awesome. Looking for Keen to roll through to the finals ^^
Also, will Khaldor be casting any of these matches or do the times conflict with GSL, I know he's not in the streamers section but I just wanted to double check.
Was just wondering about the KSL since the team games got over. This is going to be soooo sweet. StC vs Choya again, setting up some rivalries in league already? Keen vs Leenock, Jjakji vs Youngwha too much good action ^^
I'm confused by this tournament. Is there a prize besides money? I read the liquidpedia that the prize pool is literally 150 dollars.... What's the point of wasting so much effort on something that's literally worthless?
Will be interested to see how well Finale can do. After his 3kill against oGs against Terrans, I'm expecting him to do well against Gumiho, even if he doesn't win.

I'm working on getting the specifics for this particular event as far as prizes go, but a lot of times they do it for pride and exposure.

I really dont think exposure is an issue these days. There are a million and a half tournaments around the world for starcraft 2. 99% of which has a prizepool greater than 150 dollars. If this is the best the KSL can muster, I feel that it is a travesty to the hardworking players. They deserve better!

And if they wanted better they could easily decline their invitation and someone else would fill in. The prize money is clearly not an issue to them so they accepted the invite. I don't see why you're trying to create a problem when there really isn't any. Tournaments have to keep in mind sustainability as well. Yes the prize money is lower than what we're used to but, so what? The winners of this tournament could also be playing for seeds into a Final type tournament with a higher prize pool which seems to be the norm these days.
I wont be able to watch anyone more KSL, its been a pleasure, to all the lovely LR people: infinity <3 and and and hugs and kisses to all of you, cause you guys rock. As for the games, well, its obvious. Keen's gonna win it. Who else? Kids a beast. Best player in the world, ezpz. :0

100$ for a small amount of effort is certainly worth it for Koreans (usually 8 players only, so only 6-9 games for 100$) considering that Code A pays very little for how much more effort is required. These special events are probably for fame and exposure, but the prize money isn't terrible at all.

Yes, as far as I'm aware all the brackets were randomized.
True lost too many queens early so he couldn't do any damage during mid game. And if zergs cannot harass/damage toss mid game, they will lose to the toss ball once it gets to 200
I do not understand why TSL would not enter this tournament. They need to get their players all the experience they can get! Especially with the new GSTL right around the corner. Also you would think SlayerS would enter their lesser known/less experienced players into this tournament as well. Good luck to all and hopefully we will see some new faces in the Semifinals/Finals.
Katu, I LOVE your casting. But I only see 7 VODs for the first day of KSL individuals( no STcurious). Can you please update your VOD section with all the games as I dont wake up at 5am =( ?
Also, it would be cool if you uploaded empty games for best of 3 if one player 2-0 s the other one to leave some surprise. Its really noticable in team league games when theres only 6-7 VODS then I know one team is gonna roll the other one before I even start the first game. Thanks, and keep up the great casting!
frack 2 of my most favourite players are going up against each other - MC and LosirA. ahhh well either way should be a good match. how come there aren't many top gsl ballers participating in the ksl?
I opened the stream, it was windowed inside a KSL banner by the observer (so the game was like 1/6 of the total screen, even when maximized), and then the banner got removed for a split second (maximizing the game screen, as is normal)... and then it said the stream is offline? x.x
EDIT: Kept refreshing and it came back up, full screen.
This is one of the good reasons for which Sage has a hard time staying in Code A. You can't just panic into cheese at every final set, and he does so quite often.
Oh my God, is MC actually playing? He wins Homestory Cup, flies from Germany to Korea, gets off of the plane, and less than eight hours later plays in the GSL and beats fOrGG and Leenock, and now he's playing in the KSL? That is absolutely INSANE. And against Losira, no less.
From winning a tournament in Germany to arriving in Korea with 10 hours until the GSL where he plays Supernova, ForGG, and Leenock, only to go back to the oGs house to play in a tournament against Losira. What a boss toss.

I always thought GSL was prerecorded or something.

It's the special tournaments that have been prerecorded at times. GSL is live. The players sitting in the sound proof boxes didn't tip you off?

Bro, GSL is like 9 or 10am on a weekday, you think I have time to watch it every day hehe...
I laughed so hard, when he fungaled the marines and ran blings into them, and the caster said something like "...BAM, destroying these suckers!" That felt sooooo good.!

Maybe he was so tired, that he forgot? Both of his games were kinda strange. Winning HSC, flying back to Korea, winning his GSL matches and then playing KSL...betcha he was dead tired. But its all good. As a MC fan I'm happy with his recent accomplishments. Even if he had won against Losira, that would have just been icing on the cake. Im satisfied as is.

I don't know it seems kind of difficult to forget you built a dt shrine even if you are tired plus you can see they're available when you use warp gates.

He may not necessarily look at the unit selection area - heck, I rarely do... I know my hotkeys, and if I did forget a DT shrine then I wouldn't even check if I have dts available.
It's not too different from forgetting Siege mode. Or two Infestations pits.

Yeah I guess it's more likely than him just choosing not to warp them in even with no spores.
When I checked on KatuStarcraft's page I couldn't find the VODs for last night games. I saw the results, but was hoping to see the full matches. Don't know if it was a mistake or what was saved were just the highlights. Looking forward to the round of 16!!!!

The Ro4 of the SCI4 with TB and dApollo is going on as well. The Ro4 consists of ThorZaIN, Stephano, Grubby and Ret so it's quite reasonable that there are less viewers watching the KSL finals. Personally I don't mind, I'm watching both... dual monitors. :>
