It seems like despite being the best finals to date (in my opinion) it's had one of the shortest GSL final threads

In terms of the quality of the games, this has really been the best GSL finals so far. But what disappointed me about it was that it didn't seem to capture that electric feeling of a full and totally stoked audience. I felt like MMA vs MVP caught something of that "live sports" feeling that this finals didn't. I don't know if that's all there was to it, but to me that finals really felt like something special. By comparison, this one felt like a really good series of games and that's all.

The way that Jjaki moves his army, times his attacks and expands, pulls away small groups of units (not just a medivac with 8 marines) to deny expansions, controls space with bunkers and depots, and has singular marines all over the map to spot counter attacks and mutas makes him a stronger TvZ player than either MVP or MMA right now.

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves here ... he's had one absolutely phenomenal showing against Leenock, but that's pretty much it so far as far as high-end tournaments go.

Nevertheless, I hope to see him catapult into Top 5 Terran status at least. (And I hope to see his overlord-hunting technique become a standard in the game.) I haven't been so impressed with someone's play like this since boxer's years and years and years ago.

MMA vs. MVP took place during blizzcon, at blizzcon. Can't compare.

As the above poster said the last finals took place during Blizzcon which is a huge event.
Since this finals didn't have one of the huge fan-favorites(Mvp, NesTea, MMA, MC) in it I don't think people looked forward to it as much. There wasn't any Kpop pre-game show, the audience seemed smaller(although that might be wrong?) and the LR thread on TL is much shorter than the other finals. The LR thread of the last season's finals was almost a hundred pages longer, which to me shows that people were less interested in this finals.

Oh well... It's their loss. Leenock vs Jjakji was freaking awesome anyways.
What a player

It's possible that one of these players may one day become dominant - those watching the GSL at this moment may one day recall this series with fondness!

Just watched the entire series. By far the most impressive GSL Finals since MKP vs. Nestea in GSL Finals Season 2, but the games being overall more complex and sophisticated. The atmosphere of the stage was mediocre compared to the GSL FInals October, but this November finals the one I would recommend over any other finals.

The subterranian zerg. I love that nickname for leenock.

Best GSL finals ever (not exactly a difficult thing to accomplish but still, awesome)

People citing MKP/Nestea as a good series really I think have their blinders on. 1 game was over 20 minutes and 6 games were 12-13 minutes. Time is not a good measure of a great game, but EVERY game was a 2rax cheese (which would start the 2rax heydey in season 3) or a roach/bane all-in by Nestea. Only decent game to even re-watch in that is Steppes of War (maybe Lost Temple).

It was only a good final because of really the major moments of emotion from MKP (and the fact that, by numbers, it was a 4-3). MMA vs MVP was a much better series in terms of actual skill.

That being said. Wow, for Leenock and Jjakji, easily best series for a gsl final ever.

You probably didn't watch them live at the time.
It's about relative to skill at the time it was played, and it was a fantastic series

Only going to reply once in this so it doesn't get derailed anymore but it's pretty presumptuous to say I never watched it live since my whole comment implies that I obviously did...almost my whole set of 4k posts are in LR threads from Sept to the early this summer. Regarding 'relative skill' at the time, the series before it with Kyrix in the quarters and MVP/Zenio were actual demonstrations in skill at the time since it changed TvZ meta with splits. The finals only introduced 2rax to the masses (and Rain) - and you can go read the LR thread for GSL 2 to read the heavy whines about the finals.

I think that with the maps available and the fact that the game was so young, MKP vs NesTea was still a very good final for its time. Nothing comparable to recent series in terms of skill of course, but it was still a good final
