Those are ordinary cycles in labor productivity, which peak as players reach their maximum potential and slide into trough afterwards, until the potential for another rise is accumulated. These cycles are universal, almost philosophical, piercing through all aspects of material world, including human psychology. Behavioral economics FTW. Philosophy - even more FTW.

I think more so than that, it's that people ignore the misses (Both July and Losira haven't dropped down to Code A since being the runner up, with July not even having gone to Up & Downs in the 4 Code S seasons since his finals appearance) and that people often have expectations based only on absurdly recent results. Just because someone reached the finals does not mean that getting to the finals is an average result for them, and being mediocre may actually be much closer to their average than doing well.

I underestimated taeja too; I thought talent was all he had. Apparently, he reads the game like a genius too. Taeja's one of the most adaptive Terrans out there. :D Unfortunately, sometimes he reads too much into his opponent's actions and ends up mindgaming himself into a loss. There was a game against ForGG where ForGG went CC first and Taeja scouted that ForGG had made no raxes in his base, so Taeja immediately assumed ForGG was proxy raxing him and threw down two raxes of his own only to cancel them as soon as he saw ForGG's CC as his SCV left the base. As a result, his econ ended up being really behind, and he had to try to play catch-up. It was mostly kind of hilarious.

He should have counted the amount of SCVs supply would be 14-15 for cc first, 10-12 for proxy-rax
