On the left? I'm 99% sure it's WaxAngel. (he is at the event anyway)

While the country in general may not have perfect internet everywhere, I'm cringing everytime sweeping generalizations like this are made... and it's not really your fault. It's often due to misinformation (like how at IPL3, some announcer had said that the entire state's internet went down, all the while I'm sitting in my house in New Jersey, cruising on my perfectly-fine internet connection). IPL failed because of that truck disaster. Not sure why NY's IEM tournament is delayed.

Sometimes, stuff happens. Doesn't necessarily mean the entire country (or even the house 50 miles away) is affected Could happen anywhere in the world.

All the nerds @comicon are using the bandwitch

I honestly can't fathom how on earth you think roaming tournament series that rely on rented locations can do something more than they already do. They can't get backup or dedicated lines put in months in advance, all they can do is pass their requirements on to the place they're using in advance and press on them the importance of it, which they do. All of them.

You can't play SC2 on satellite connections and until someone invents a magic system that provides remote internet with low latency without copper wire or fibre optic cabling (which is pretty unlikely unless wireless coverage, power and infrastructure change dramatically), it's going to happen. The only way around it is to have a dedicated location for all the events where there can be backup lines from different providers, or have it take place in places which put internet at a much higher priority than most and there really aren't that many of those about.

This thing is at NYCC where the whole thing has to be shared with like 20-30 game company streams and content uploaders as well as journalists and NYCC staff, so that adds a whole other issue where the internet is available but not enough bandwidth is dedicated, which is rarely going to be as simple as just asking for more.

So you are saying that streaming + a couple of journalists needs tons of bandwith ?
Ever been at a big LAN in allocated sites? They actually get backup dedicated lines.

In dreamhack in sweeden and Gathering in norway they do it. ALso internet for 4,500 downloaders there works =)

This, a thousand times.

Having a room wired for "LAN" is such a simple software adjustment, it is infuriating not to see something along these lines implemented yet.

Of course, it seems the problem here is primarily upstream for the broadcast, which is unrelated to battle.net's failings. That CAN be done via sat. truck, which IEM may do next time.

it wouold be a terrible idea to have tourneys on LAN latency if you couldn't practice with lan latency

Well given that bandwidth isn't measured in tons I asumme you're using it as a comparative term in which case what the flying crap are you comparing it to? I mean you totally just ignored everything I wrote in order to question the one thing that's literally on the stream right now as the cause of the delay.

But thanks for being a condescending asshole who presumes the person they're talking down to has no experience in the thing they've just talked about in detail.

So excited for the games, gonna be awesome

It's better to start with delay instead of having lags i think.
