Can we please stop counting matches played between players 6000 miles away? Stephano's good and all but you don't need to overplay his achievements, let them speak for themselves. It's Lucky's first real tournament alongside his teammate Inori, and when the hell did TheStC last compete? What are you even trying to say? This is like a new level of digging to find something to harp on. Trying to downplay the fact that foreigners overhype everything to the highest caliber of exaggeration, which usually results in the actual players achievements getting ridiculed by the more knowledgeable individuals of the community. agreed. What Stephano has done is amazing, but people will start calling him 'Nestea' level, and will overhype him so much that people will backlash against the hype, making everyone sad.

oh right, and use the prime streams after the finals, Lani interviews plz

Here's Nestea's quote when asked about playing online. "I don’t think I can do online. I don’t want to give any excuses, but I get really angry at the lag. Because of the lag, I don’t think I want to be in any online tournament in the future. It causes me a lot of stress without a lot of payoff." Interview was done right after a GSL match. There is a reason that Nestea refuses to participate in online tournaments.
So?
Lag affects both players. Stop whining and trying to discredit Stephanos victory.

I really don't care if people think Stephano didn't play the toughest opponents, if you can't tell that Stephano is exceptionally skilled then you are delusional. I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. If you just watch Stephano's decision-making, his control, his perpetual supply advantage, it feels like there's something special about this kid. Even when he doesn't win he just looks so strong. I'm definitely a fan.

Although not the first foreigner to defeat good Koreans and win tournaments (HuK and IdrA have both done this), he is the first foreigner to do so across a wide spectrum of match-ups in a tournament where the Koreans had the numeric advantage in the championship bracket.
Eight players entered the Ro8. Three were foreigners. Four players entered the Ro4. Only one was a foreigner. And that foreigner won.
A momentous occasion in SC 2. It's not who he beat that was the most impressive part (although still the best foreigner vs Korean run ever), it's how he did it. No Korean training. No team house. It's a complete kick in the stomach to all the foreigners who make excuses about how they can't beat Koreans because of the lack of infrastructure.
this. hes practising by playing ladder 3-4 hours a day and it all gets streamed, yet he still wins. Im not going to call him bonjwa, thats just stupid, but i will call him extremely talented.

Well, if it was truly a coinflip there would still be a 25% total chance of getting 3-0 or 0-3, so... 12,5% chance for a 3-0 if it's completely random and each player has an 50% to counter the other's build Hence 25% for 3-0 or 0-3 nope... 12,5% for one player winning 3-0, it's not counted separately Yup, so there's 25% chance of either 3-0 or 0-3. do you really not understand? there is 50% chance that 1 player will counter the other in 1 match in 1 match if we flip the coins, there is 25% chance that they'll be both heads, 25% both tails and 50% for heads-tails- that includes both cases you're mentioning. with the same logic it's 50%*50%*50% in three matches, all possible outcomes included that's 12,5% not 25% You are completely misunderstanding the other guy's point. He is saying that, if we assume that a ZvZ really is a coinflip, there is 25% chance that one of the two players will be up 3-0 after three games. This is 100% true. Here is a more concrete example. Suppose that we say that the games between Lucky and Stephano were just coinflips (I know they weren't and Lucky got outplayed, but just assume that for now). Then there is a 12.5% chance that Stephano wins the first 3 games, and a 12.5% chance that Lucky wins the first 3 games. That means there is a 12.5% + 12.5% = 25% chance that one of the two will be up 3-0. Correct. Think of it like this: Bo1 has 100% chance of someone winning 1-0 Bo3 has 50% chance of someone winning 2-0 Bo5 has 25% chance of someone winning 3-0 The games are not independent. After losing a game or two a player may just play worse, therefore increasing the chances of a shutout.
This whole thing is about one guy going it's 25% for 3-0 or 0-3, and other people saying it's 12.5% for a 3-0. Both are right, both are calculating different things, both are being too immature to explain their reasoning so people just keep on making stupid posts.

It's almost as if people don't quite get how GOOD Mvp is at playing SC2... go watch his replays dude. Stephano most likely couldn't take a game off him in a Bo9
