Violet and TheStC too... he had a damn difficult path.

Violet is terrible for a Code S Zerg. TheStC is very stylistic and not a macro terran.

I wish stephano vs kiwikaki was the finals though, and game 2 was like game 6, and then stephano comes with the clutch game 7.
I asked my friend how the ratio at a party was, he replied. "Let's just say for every guy there was two dudes."

False, "3-0" isn't a coinflip regardless who's winning, 1-1/2-2/3-3 would be coinflips.

Well, if it was truly a coinflip there would still be a 25% total chance of getting 3-0 or 0-3, so...

12,5% chance for a 3-0 if it's completely random and each player has an 50% to counter the other's build

Hence 25% for 3-0 or 0-3

nope... 12,5% for one player winning 3-0, it's not counted separately

Yup, so there's 25% chance of either 3-0 or 0-3.

do you really not understand?

there is 50% chance that 1 player will counter the other in 1 match

in 1 match if we flip the coins, there is 25% chance that they'll be both heads, 25% both tails and 50% for heads-tails- that includes both cases you're mentioning.

with the same logic it's 50%*50%*50% in three matches, all possible outcomes included that's 12,5% not 25%

You are completely misunderstanding the other guy's point. He is saying that, if we assume that a ZvZ really is a coinflip, there is 25% chance that one of the two players will be up 3-0 after three games. This is 100% true.

Here is a more concrete example. Suppose that we say that the games between Lucky and Stephano were just coinflips (I know they weren't and Lucky got outplayed, but just assume that for now). Then there is a 12.5% chance that Stephano wins the first 3 games, and a 12.5% chance that Lucky wins the first 3 games. That means there is a 12.5% + 12.5% = 25% chance that one of the two will be up 3-0.

Correct. Think of it like this:

Bo1 has 100% chance of someone winning 1-0
Bo3 has 50% chance of someone winning 2-0
Bo5 has 25% chance of someone winning 3-0

The games are not independent. After losing a game or two a player may just play worse, therefore increasing the chances of a shutout.

Yeah, but we're not taking things like that into account. We were just saying that if ZvZ truly is a coinflip (i.e. each player has exactly a 50% chance of winning each game) then you'd expect a 3-0 25% of the time. Obviously it is never a true coinflip (see Nestea's 24-2 record in ZvZ).

from left to right: foreigner, slumping half/half, code B, foreigner, beaten by Lucky, beaten by Lucky, and we all saw Lucky's ZvZ, plus it was BO wins half the games

Its so funny how quick people are to take the credit away from Stephano just because he hasn't had a tournament win of this size yet.

And calling HuK slumping half/half? Really? He's Code S...

I am so sad that Stephano won. He seems like another bm IdrA in the making.

Um... How??? Where has he showed BM? Just. Just. No.

His answers to panel questions. His interviews. His "whatever, i dont care" attitude. He just gives me that "i am too good to care" vibe.

This is in no way comparable to the bitching and the insulting of other players by Idra.

When the interviewer asked Stephano why he says "gratz" when he loses, he said that it was because he is himself good and if "some one is better than him, he wants to congratulate him". That is an awesome attitude. I don't like the fact that Stephano is taking pride in not practicing much though...

amazing player no doubt
but i gotta agree this guy needs an attitude adjustment
david asks him how he feels, and he responds "you already asked me that question"
wtf, u just won 30k thanks to this guy and thats how you respond

Cool logic. Beating someone that beat someone else =/= beating said person. It simply does not work like that.
