I was wondering that too. Lets say MVP wins Blizzcon, now he would have the GSL and the blizzcon spot. I personally hope that gsl just trys to send the best players with focus on those who compete in the gsl and not just trys as hard as possible to get foreigners into this tournament. I think they should keep an eye on maintaining balance. If 8 Koreans make the cut and one drops out, I'm not opposed to choosing a non-Korean player as long as he has the qualifications/achievements. and again, there's lots of possibilities to use legitimate results as a decider: 1st place MLG 2011 ranking 1st place GSTL individual player 1st place IEM Guangzhou 1st place NASL 1st place ESCW 2nd place IEM New York 2nd place Blizzcon 3rd place MLG Providence 4th place GSL 1st place at NASL season 2 2nd place at NASL season 2 Those two should definately be qualified for this if the season 2 ends before this tournament. Hm, I can think of 4 possible reasons NASL isn't included: 1) regular season ends halfway through November and no one knows when the finals are held - GOM needs finished dates to schedule. 2) GOM does know the final dates, but they are too close to the Blizzard Cup or simply too late 3) Mr Chae was involved in the failed negotiations of Korean players with NASL and he (and by extension, GOM) doesn't want a partnership with NASL at this point. 4) GOM considers the 7 franchises chosen (GSL/MLG/IEM/DH/IPL/WCG/Blizzcon) as bigger than NASL. It's important to note that they did have prior partnerships with some of these.

He should auto qualify They only invite the Winners of real tournaments! If they invite the Winner of IEM Guangzhou they also need to invite the Winner of CraftCup EU #37. so.. iem NY vs iem guangzhou which in your eyes is more "real" TROLL. The same way why invite from latest MLG and not one before ? If we are looking for most prestigious IEM this year then IEM Cologne would be the one to pick. ..huh? only MLG providence winner/runner up is going which is the MLG championships therefore biggest event for them... the IEM choice is completely arbitrary. It is seems arbitrary with the pick of IEM NY, does not mean it has to be, you could look at which IEM had the toughest players and it would stop being completely arbitrary (only the judgment of which players are better would remain somewhat arbitrary), but I get your point. And I understand why theoretically MLG Providence is used, but my point was that if they try to get best players of the year there is no reason to think that Providence will have best participants of all MLGs this year.

That might also be behind the decision.
