Can't wait! Gonna be an amazing tournament, even if half of them are Korean. (SeleCT is OURS)

so even if you do super bad in pool play you will still get placed in single elimination (championship bracket) Whats the point of having pool play then?

Not to be placed against good players in the early rounds.
From what I understand, the first place in the pool play of each group will be place far apart from each other in the bracket, and will be put against lowest seeds from the open bracket. So you won't face have to face the tough opponents from the start.

So you won't face have to face the tough opponents from the start. That's assuming the best players will play their best in group stage. I mean let's say that all the Koreans would choose to forfeit/throw their pool play games they'd all get the lowest seeds and get to face the "higher" seeds (foreigners) in the beginning. The best players can just choose if they want to have a low seed or a high seed depending on how the earlier groups went which gives a huge advantage to group D.

These matches unfortunately don't mean tht much, but im still gonna watch it cos there are some awesome matchups. Hopefully everyone plays their best, but i doubt they'll show any secret builds tht they've been preparing for this event

The explanation given by the IPL staff made a lot of sense for me :
NASL got people to come from all around the world, and get knocked out after 1 BO3. So some of those people who have travelled from so far away have played 2 maps.
Here, every player who has been invited/qualified will at least play a full pool stage + 1 bracket match.
Seems weird, but cool for the players and great for the viewers imo.

Why is this not under upcoming events? o_0

then at least copy the MLG bracketsystem. It would at least give the players a reason for playing their best.
