What exactly is the point of esports if we're just going to make it like every other sport? 10,000 hoops to jump through before you'll ever get close to playing a top player.
This kind of format helps promote esports in countries where it's less developed, helps get players in said countries international tournament experience, helps promote players who you otherwise would never have heard of. God forbid someone who's not a GSL champion should be bestowed the honour of having your attention for 20 minutes a year.
Enough with the shitty attitude, if you don't wanna watch the games then wait until the brackets before you start watching.

Hope they show Grubby v Stephano first.

Yes, the format has its advantages and disadvantages, both already mentioned (by Duravi and mighty_honour_korea), and I think it would be stupid to ignore either. Besides, some may find it interesting to see how one of the best players from country X fairs against their favorite player, even if he has almost no chance of winning.

haha Doa & Khaldor must have been up all night. Looking wasted from the GSL finals

Khaldor and DoA are a great casting combo

Anyone else just finished watching the GSL finals and about to stay up to watch ESWC?
|

This match doesn't seem to exist according to my schedule. Stephano is playing Nightend, Grubby is playing Leugim.

There are plenty of good games from these players, all are Grandmasters and more than capable of putting up a good fight. If people just want to be glorywhores and only watch the famous players that's their business but personally, I'll take eSports regardless of how bigname the players are involved in it. Respect their hard work.
