Wish it could be 1/2 IdrA and Puma of course

Puma is simply too monster TvZ atm.. but I am hoping for a HELL of a series from my brothers

if your predictions come true i cant wait to see the 3rd place rematch between idra and elfi

Well Elfi won 2-0 against Idra in group play pretty convincingly. ^^

We clearly were watching different series then, because nothing about Elfi's wins over IdrA were 'convincing.' Not to detract from Elfi's play at all, which has been surprisingly superb, IdrA should easily have had that first game and admitted he was just a bit late on his tech switch causing him to lose to the deathball, the second game had a lot to do with IdrA's playstyle for ZvP (drop and harass oriented) not working well on the map. If IdrA does beat Puma, I think he has way more of a shot against either of the Protoss' than people are giving him credit.

If anyone thinks just because IdrA went 1-2 in groups means he must not be playing as well as everyone else in the Semi's they're just wrong and didn't watch all of the group games. Setting aside the bunker rush on Shakuras, IdrA really only played poorly once in the second game loss to Jinro and had some minor things prevent him from winning against Elfi in both games (and no, not because he made Hydra's..)

Protoss is simply the hard matchup for Zerg atm because in some scenarios they simply have a tough time judging when to switch from Corrupters into Broodlords.. something I'm sure will be ironed out soon.

If Idra wins vs Puma, that will certainly be the biggest upset I've seen so far in SC2. Fingers crossed.

meh, hongun vs mc and FXO vs IM were bigger upsets imo. PuMa isn't bigger a favorite than those matches.

cock prediction would be Elfi or Hasu to win it. the huge boner I'd get while watching the forums errupt into P imba EU toss beating KR terran would be extravagant.

I agree with you, Naruto. IdrA definitely has the potential to knock out the losing Protoss and take third place.

I would even go so far as to say the ball is in IdrA's court there.

Exactly. Statistically elfi is the slight favourite here, because it is his best MU, while it is Hasu´s worst.

The problem with Hasu´s Mirror is not, that he sucks at it, it is the inconsistency. Sometimes he loses against pretty unknown Protoss like Acro 0-2, where you just scratch your head and think "WTF Hasu!" and on other days he beats Top-protoss like Mana 3-0. You never know beforehand what to expect, especially after the most recent patch.

However, if Hasu has a really good day like back at ESL Torneo in Spain, when he defeated Socke in a BO7 to win the tourney, he definetly can beat elfi tomorrow. If this is the case, he also has a small chance to upset Puma in the final, especially on big maps like Taldarim, Crevasse or Terminus, where he maybe can drag the game into the lategame.

PvP statistics don't mean much unless they are post-patch.

The recent patch really has changed the entire match up. Some players will thrive in the new system, others won't.

Beyond effective use of the 1-1-1, Puma's TvP is poor. This is unsurprising, because if you use a 1 base build which give you a large advantage in most games, you will be worse at playing an even game which stretches on.

I hope Puma is enjoying his time in the TvP sun, because it will come with a price.

Yeah, because beating the best Protoss in the world in a full-blown series, when MC was indeed undoubtedly the best Protoss in the world, without using the 1-1-1 at all, is showing pretty poor TvP performance.

And that included macro games as well.

Please do a little research before making ridiculous claims. Puma's a beast, plain and simple. He can use the 1-1-1 very effectively, and he's certainly not afraid to auto-win with it, but he's not a one trick pony.

Here is my post from page 5 of this thead.

On October 04 2011 00:25 -_- wrote:

Have you watched his games against Mana? I think his TvP late game is very poor. Even in the NASL finals he somehow blew tremendous advantages and let MC stay in games when he most absolutely shouldn't have.

If Puma gets through Idra, and either Elfi or Hasu can enter mid game even with Puma, I fully expect either to beat Puma.

As you can see, I was in no way unaware of Puma's NASL finals series against MC. You can disagree with my assessment of the series if you want, but you can't pretend that I made a silly claim because I failed to "do a little research."

Ah, I misread. When Dumbtruck said top three, I thought he meant that elfi would definitely get at least third (therefore, beating IdrA, even if elfi loses to Hasu), no matter what. Obviously, "protoss eu" shows he didn't mean that

I was thinking about the outcomes of the upcoming matches. My mistake
