Has not been played due to time constraints. They said it would be played online some time.

Hey all,

we had a great local event, thanks to all! online didnt work so well but we can only learn from this, our first tournament.

Ill prepare all VODs later today and put them online, so they should be available tonight or tomorrow on the battle in berlin website.

I was there and I dont really concur with that statement.

- the delays were horribly long

- nobody was honest with us, in 4minutes we start turned always to at least 30min, sometimes even 70mins!!!

- there was nothing to do besides waiting (oh and yeah go to the 1 sponsor booth to give them my address)

- we basically had to sit around for almost 2h without anything to do until the first match started. at the start of the 2nd BO3 we had already been there 5h and seen 1BO3.

- even though I like beer a lot I really think you should think long and hard if its a good idea to hand it out at these events. especially since there were these long delays, people had already drunk 2-3 beers. It got to the point of really anoying half drunk people that were very loud and really made my watching experience less enjoyable.

- the screen. the entire event the audience was not able to see the entire minimap which is bad for spectating

- lastly, which is probably my biggest gripe. I realize its a matter of taste and I dont wanna take anything away from Endrey, since he did a lot for this event and the community, but I really didnt like the casting at all

I left after TLOs quarter final. I had enough of waiting forever between loud/drunk "fans" for badly casted games.

I know this sounds harsh, but I still liked the event for being here and I thank all of you who assisted in creating it and hope you will try again. We need more events here in germany that are not part of a convention (IEM)! These were just some opinions I had!

All these points are ment as constructive criticism!

I pretty much agree with everything except the beer/ loud crowd part.

We actually told Special E that it was impossible to see part of the minimap. He said he will fix it but never did.

And as you said the delay was horribly wrong. I actually could not watch till the end because of the 2 hour delay at the beginning. I really don't understand how you could plan so horribly bad that the starting of the event delays by 2 hours.
this was extremely unproffessional.

But what made it actually good for me in the end was the "drunk" crowd.
At some point we cheered "Liquid! - - - Ret!", and the other side of the crowd answered with an EmPire Kas chant.
Numerous other chants and clapping in different rythms followed.
Which reminded me of the time i was a supporter for a football club.

For me things like that are the reason to watch an event live, because you will almost always have a better viewing experience at home, but you won't feel that you are part of something or how you are supporting your players.

It was such a nice event in the end.
I was a part of the staff and setup team and some of that stuff were just not
planned before from the organizer. At least we tried our best and we will be
smarter for the next time.
One of the problems was that we couldnt enter the Hall one day before just
on Saturday morning. So too less time to test anything, so much stuff missing and so on.

But It was a pleasure to help and I hope that some events like that in germany again sooner or later

(but I have to aggree, disliked the drunk ppl, it was really really annoying and to boo at Players is not really sportingly and
I was disappointed and sad about the ppl there.)

uhm calling people with very legitimate criticism "troublemakers" is just plain out dishonest.

We screwed up and you should have the balls to admit that instead of calling out people who are rightfully disappointed about how the event turned out. Furthermore it shouldn't take you 2 days to address the feedback, seriously.

Obviously booing at players is wrong. I actually did not hear anyone doing so. The only booing that was going on was towards the constant delaying of games which did not exactly please the crowd.

Lets hope it will be better next time.

He meant the drunk people tbo

Imho the crowd was awesome.

The delay at the beginning was bad but later on we had a smooth flow i think, i talked to many visitors and all players at the event and the majority said the delay sucked but that the experience was great.

Next time we do it better and thats it chil for now il remaster the vods atm.

i talked with head of security - there were a total of 4 drunks (out of 550 total visitors). 2 of them were vandalizing a little bit . those people are called troublemakers.

i am NOT talking about people who were booing at me or at opponents of german players. everybody is entitled to an opinion.

and it WILL take 2 days before we issue any offical statements. because i want to talk to ALL players, ALL the staff, i want to check out the VODs myself, talk to the director of the venue and and some guests.

I will NOT talk about this event before I've spoken to everybody and yeah I am human after all and I need sleep

I know we fucked up stuff I know we were awesome at other stuff

#edit

another thing about the 2 days. its not like i can put my feet up and rest and have beer or two.

today we were at the venue. tommorowwe will be there, we have to return all the video equiptment. wait for the trucks to pick up the PCs and in addition to that i have a doctors appointment on monday which will decide if i have to take special kind of medicine for the rest of my life. forgive me if i prioritise this over other stuff :§

Pretty good tournament, great players, some obvious errors, and a lot of fun! Hey, they have the experience now and know how to fix it in the future I'm sure. Anyway, I hope there are more of these tournaments and bigger in the future ;-)

Some feedback to the organizers from a viewer of the stream.

I did not have the time to dedicate my Saturday watching but wanted to see as much as I could. However, my overall impression of the event was not that good. The delays and total lack of a schedule made it impossible to tune in for specific games. Also, I did not purchase the HQ stream as I would only be able to see some games. However, this took away from the experience as the LQ stream was pretty bad. I understand that you want people to purchase the premium service, hence lowering the quality of the free service, but it kind of hurt my eyes and ears. I would prefer to see some commercials and such over that. Also I did have some weird lag or something from the viewer – I never have that on Twitch.tv and the other more common viewers.

Overall I am sure that this was a great event with good games but I only managed to see 2 games or so, which I think was unfortunate (for me). I will download the replays and try to catch up on some of the games.
