The time has come for our eighth IGN Pro League Team Arena! This is a (follow closely) weekly winner's format team king of the hill showmatch series. For better clarification, check out our IPL Team Arena General Discussion thread!
When: Monday, Sep 19 10:30pm GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also have a European re-broadcast as usual at Tuesday, Sep 20 4:30pm GMT (GMT+00:00))
Prizes
The first team to defeat everyone on the opposing team's roster (5 wins, or a best of 9) will earn $500 for their team to split however they want. To make things even more interesting, we are including a $100 bounty for each victory that a team earns, for new challengers to try and claim. For example, if a team wins 3 weeks in a row, they will have earned themselves $1,500 total, and have $300 worth of bounty on them. If a new team defeats them, they will earn the $500 for winning the week, as well as claim the $300 bounty.
Fnatic is the second team to win the IPL Team Arena, and they have earned themselves $1500 and a $300 bounty on their heads. Team Liquid is of course a monster of a team, especially with its newest additions Liquid`Sheth and Liquid`HerO. Here are their full rosters:

liquid's lineup looks the most balanced and strong. Their weakest players, like tyler(please practice T.T) haypro are easily top 30 MLG Jinro may be harderas he is not in form and have latency problems...
Wheras their top players can smash anybody and their korean is amazing :D

Really hyped for this, I think either 3-4 Fnatic or 4-3 TL.
However I'm such a Rain Fanboy so I can't help but root for Fnatic if Rain plays today

With all these Protosses on Fnatic, I could easily see Sheth getting pretty close to an all-kill, with his skill in ZvP. Since Fnatic have no Zergs, it will be hard to snipe him. ToD vs. Sheth may be a hard match, but I think he could take it. The biggest problem, of course, is Rain. I could see most of Liquid's lineup taking out Rain, if they played their best.

Games played a few days before the broadcast generally I believe, so we'll probably see Hero.
I think with Liquid's strong Z lineup and Hero they will probably take this, being able to pick the map vs Rain is gonna help them a lot.

Liquid only needs to take down Nightend, Rain, and Tod... mostly Rain. IF Liquid can use Hero, I don't think it will help much because 1) he's protoss, he will be 1/1/1'ed to a bluddy pulp and 2) Rain is better than Hero.

Haypro played not so good and lost a basetrade scenario, TT1 would have probably rolled him regardless.

Will be really interesting to see who Liquid sends out next if Sheth loses. I'm guessing they don't want to send Hero out vs Rain unless they absolutely have to. There's a good chance Hero might lose to Rain, but he's a heavy favourite over the whole rest of their lineup, so it makes sense to save him and try to snipe Rain with someone else.

It wasn't a Rain specific comment hehe despite what the commentators were saying i actually like Rain - but Sheth really seems to have his number this game; he is denying every drop and seems to be able break through this standard marine tank composition.
With such an early third i really expected something more exciting from Rain

Was a little disappointed in his play that game, though infestor/ultra is something on a nightmare on such shot notice.

Well Fnatic have problems since they've mainly got protoss left on their roster and Sheth's ZvP is very good, and Rain was seen to be the ace.

With 4 protosses and 2 terrans in their lineup; Sheth dispatching Rain is a big deal considering how beastly his vP is. Fnatic would have to send KR surely they wouldn't send a Protoss vs Sheth unless to cheese him out somehow lol

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Hopefully this ultra build will become more common. Being a terran player, I don't much like facing ultras but I like seeing diversity in sc2 play when I'm just spectating, which is what I do primarily. It makes the game more interesting and versatile.

Marauders are good too and he had them in a timely fashion but he just got overwhelmed. Ghosts are great but unless you have them in MVP-esque numbers they aren't really super good vs Ultras imo (it's 12 snipes to kill one).
Not implying any balance issues, the eco Sheth had meant he could probably win with whatever he wanted that game eventually. I just think that we'll see a lot more Zergs realise going the ultra route isn't as bad as it's often made out to be, especially when you're going into it fairly quickly and catching the T still on marine/tank etc ^^

Well that should be it for Sheth - an infinite amount of well placed forcefields by ToD really won that for him. Bought him enough time to get those upgrades and just eat away at Sheth

That was great play by Tod.
Kept the pressure up the whole game long, stopped Sheth from doing anything other than making units while he managed to keep building workers and sneaking out upgrades in the background.

As I was watching this, I was actually surprised when it mostly came true. I've never really watched much of ToD's play, but I knew he was good. Was sort of disappointed with that last game vs. Ret, though.
I can't wait for next week, though, with the Liquid vs Slayers matchup. The games will surely be great. I'm thinking that HerO vs CoCa might be a good match, if it arises. Would love to see some of SlayerS' lesser known players, to see how well they fare against Liquid, as well.
