Softball has a chance to make a big name for himself tonight mostly because he has a very tough challenge, I think these set of games are going to be awesome!
Im really curious about this character SoftBall. I wonder what he's truly made of. I guess if he ever wanted to make a name for himself, beating idra is normally a good place to start. Lord knows its done wonders for a few peoples careers haha. For me though sjow/morrow is tonights premiere matchup. I feel like these two have been sort of forgotten by a lot of people in favour of more "in" players of Europe. I want to see Morrow take back his Euro Zerg Crown. Also rooting for Socke because he's just cool, even if he did get that can thrown at him on stream at IEM

Thats just how theyv arranged the season. They have several nights like this. Im quite fond of it myself because im often put off watching too many matches, this is more manageable. If you went to look at the schedule they have posted nicely for us on their website then you can be prepared for next time this happens without having to become sad and folorn

Sjow is in Korea, so I think he will be in a bit of a cocoon form atm. To later on stomp people with his newfound korean superpowers. :D Else I'd pick him.

I don't know if it matters, the way the poll is set up is currently a really useless way of doing it. What if more than one game per series is worth watching?

Doesn't really seem like a weird reason to me, most professional sports have days (or weeks) off. In the NFL, for example, they play 17 weeks of games, but each team only plays 16 games, since there's a bye week in there. I noticed it when I was looking through their schedule of games, but it seemed pretty intuitive to me, I don't know that an official announcement would have made sense for it.
It is kinda odd for there to be a bye at the start of the season, but it's probably just how it worked out best scheduling.

Haha yeah I guess its because i like to watch the US broadcast but im the UK so i fall asleep with too many games. But tbh I dont see why nasl should make additional communication about a non-issue when their schedule is in so many places. There was never any concern if you looked at their official information. Sorry to be hostile i just think you could have found it out very easily.

Hunh, I guess if they already have it it would be a bit odd to hold off that long. My assumption was that it wouldn't be played until a lot later on in the season.
Still, I think less games during the regular season will help, even being on PST, there was quite a lot to watch. Who knows, though, maybe I'll be drooling for more come the middle of the season.
I like this new schedule with only 3 or 4 games a night. For me European, 5 bo3s starting at 3am is hard, 3 is perfect I like this new nasl season ^^ (I know there's a rebroadcast at 5pm Eurozone but I prefer watching live)
IdrA should be the favorite going into this, but what will Softball have prepared for him? I think this is the first time I'm seeing a Taiwanese player who isn't Sen playing against a top NA/EU pro.
Will Softball show that Taiwan isn't just Sen, or will IdrA show that he's in shape for NASL?
All I know, is that NASL better fucking do a week of Gretorp + Idra, best fucking caster combo, ever. Better than tastosis, better than djWheat and Day9, better than any combo ever.

He's been called the second or third best player in Taiwan, so not a total "unknown." I can understand why NASL invited him, Sen being so good and all.

I know what you mean, but if youre committed to being a pro gamer its best to leave pride behind and get in proper practice.
IdrA is increasing engaging marines with his mutas. I think it is better than people think, you just have to judge the numbers right or you are fucked.

I'm sure he was, but he just never looked on top of his game that match. Hopefully he'll adapt better in future games.
That was a bit weird to watch; he did a lot of nice things this game I haven't seen out of him often, like put effort into keeping his infestors alive and shockingly actually researching burrow.

Just realized how the animations and overall production values are so much ahead of last season. This cast actually looks professional, well how much ahead have they come in 3-4 months. Cool stuff .

I think IdrA needs a stylist but those were some pretty decisive games. His muta control is godlike and those games are examples of why you don't let IdrA macro.
Idras is right to be confident in his group. Idra has a good ZvT for Jinro, Sjow and Morrow. Morrows zvz is bad. Socke and Kiwikaki might be dangerous but i think they are very inconsistent against idra. Hwangsin is the weakest Korean in NASL and Softball just got rolled.

Oh Socke, why did you have to push that? With a largely tank/viking defence, Jinro had very little capacity for breaking the contain. Then just macro up.
Watched Jinro do the exact same thing on his stream a couple days ago (completely blind VR counter) - I assumed he just knew the player from the ladder or something.
Was there some sort of sign that Jinro scouted that should be screaming proxy voids?
that was a weird game... he expanded... Then tried to bust... then did not pull back... it should be either expand or bust... and bust seemed a better idea...

No, he was gonna go MVP's 2 base Banshee/tank/marine push
Whoa-ly shit. Jinro beat back an incredibly dangerous 3 gate proxy Stargate push from Socke with a gasless 1 gate expand into Factory play. Although it was well timed SCV repairs and 2 well placed bunkers that won him that game, he still played skillfully.
Jinro opts for the 1 rax expand into factory play again. Socke does the biggest cheese of 2011, a proxy 5 gate robo warp prism drop. Jinro scouts, discovers the cheese after a bit of SCV scouting and despite the huge drop actually getting into his base and almost sniping the Tech Lab, Chinro holds and Socke ggs.
Jinro was amazing in this game and I may have slated him in the past but he was phenomenal and I think he's officially out of his slump. Even though he said post interview that he didn't have the time to practice due to the international date line and the fact that Korea is almost a day ahead of the US, he destroyed Socke 2 - 0.
Opening with an early hatchery, MorroW focused hugely economically, but his opponent SjoWed up with 3 marines and 3 SCVs and despite holding, MorroW lost quite a few drones.
Okay, enough of the puns now.
SjoW transitions from a 2 rax expand into a factory and a starport, going for marine tank medivac whilst going gas heavy.
Meanwhile, in MorroW's base, he continues to macro the hell up, making loads of drones.but SjoW responds with good drop play in several places, sniping a few drones, lings and mutas, but MorroW holds without too many losses. However, SjoW is playing very risky, he doesn't have Combat Shields, he has a lack of units and MorroW is way ahead.
However, SjoW's risky play comes back to him and kicks him hard in the nads. He does a huge marine tank push and MorroW intercepts with a Ling Bane Muta force, catching SjoW off guard. He cleans up SjoW's push on his gold with absolute ease.
Despite some further engagements favouring SjoW more than his first two engagements, MorroW remaxes, gets infestors and easily takes the game. GG.
SjoW goes for early aggression, MorroW deflects it back and goes for a 2 base Ling Bane Muta build. Despite a good drop that snipes a queen without many losses, SjoW is poised to get hit in the nads by a muta timing which he wasn't prepared for.
But what's that? SjoW pushes in with a marine tank push, catches MorroW off guard, deflects the banelings very well, MorroW loses too much and ggs.
SjoW and MorroW go very economical, surprisingly on a map like Xel'naga Cavern. The Swedish Zerg then goes for an aggressive 2 base attack.
Despite a good SjoW of strength, the game turns into a gigantic base race where MorroW takes a huge advantage. SjoW just about survives but with 90 less supply than his opponent. Morrow has this.
His last-ditch attempt at taking the game comes from a proxy cloaked Banshee push, but he attacks too late, after MorroW scouts it. He holds but with heavy losses, gets muta out and SjoW GGs.
the production of NASL improved a lot :D Casting is quite good.... But they should try to find a resident progamer or good player to compliment gretorp. But i have to say gretorp is better now :D and i like orb

Ya, think I woke up the whole house when it swaps to commercials. Even if you turn down the sound for one the next one cranks it up again.
yeah, they use TV tricks (quiet sound on normal programs then normal sounds on ads ><) And if you cut the sound, the next ad just ignores it and it starts again. My neighbors just imploded imo.
Yes! Jinro hwaiting! Pretty decent cheese hold although a very silly build, you just can't rely on a warp prism to survive anything if you're not actively trying to defend it.
Socke's build was really cool, but really poorly planned out. Those gates should have been out way sooner, he had the minerals. If that attack hits twenty seconds earlier, and that tank isn't out yet.
That looked like a Funday Monday build, except instead of Protoss defending and the Terran building his whole tech inside the Protoss' base, it's the other way around.
I don't even know what that was to be honest. I'm sure it wasn't completely expected by Jinro but holy crap.... Socke has played better than this is so many games this was disappointing.
On September 17 2011 11:04 Xxavi wrote: Embarrassing. Did Socke do this because he has no faith in PvT any more?
He killed select, the best "foreign" TvP player, beat DDE in Shoutcraft invitational twice, played competetively against puma. He should be fuckin confident in his tvp. I dont know what the hell that was... Never seen him play like this, ever.
lets be honest.socke CAN play way way better.that was like " end it as fast as possible.i dont give a shit" there must something wrong with his shedule/practice-times
I know he didn't play anything remotely close to how he normally does, but those games do not make me feel good about Socke's chances in the MLG rapefest that is his group.
The only NASL games I've picked incorrectly have been TL players >.< (Sheth and Jinro), but I guess it's like best case scenario cause I'm glad Jinro is starting to play well again!

If SC2 really does wanted to be accepted into mainstream it's something that has to be thought about.

gretorps analysis seems kinda "wrong", morrow's plan always seems to be to get to broodlord, infestor spinecrawler - obviously he needs to crush pushes to get to that unit comp, but that doesn't mean that his playstyle is only about getting an army that is good against pushes (his creepspread also helps a ton) and that he doesn't want to macro up units constantly
gretorp described him like a mid-econ turtle player
That map is also hard for terran.....Morrow seems to be in good shape... .even though Morrows passive style is a bit annoying IMO to watch when he has such a huge lead early on......very safe play

Obviously leapfrogging is helpful, but not always viable on a map as big as Bel'shir. You have to make take risks and sometimes you get caught with your pants down.

Watch any Korean Terran, the only time they don't leapfrog tanks is when they know the army is out of position. Usually they're dropping to draw the army away while they move their main army up. It's suicide to move your army out in the middle of the map blindly as Terran. It's not a risk you have to take to win.

Hes got options though. I think if he showed up with 4 cloaked banshees unscouted, it might have been close. Luckily the roach scouted it when he had 3.

nononono its just a phony perception of professionalism
Would you bill their lawyers/fines if FCC decides to take them to the court?

There was a lot of problems with the first week and there was a lot of hype. Problems generate more posts technical ones just plagued them the first week (and the third week the second week was actually really really good sc2) Look for the later weeks for the average post count you'd see.
in other news I'm going to be doing the LR thread for tomarrow :D

Online events generally don't get as much coverage in general, especially considering NASL is the 'watch your favourite players but not necessarily all players' style. THey are actually doing incredibly well when you think about it. IPL LR threads never got past 3 pages. Even Teamspeak TL opens got more than IPL.

People are not hyped because IPL/NASL matches are played 2-3 weeks in advance. Live tournaments (even if online) will always be more entertaining and generate more hype.

Post count is low but the viewers are there. They had 13k last night and have been well above 10k each night so far. So while its down a bit its still good numbers with the exodus of korean teams.

NASL matches are played 2 days in advance actually. And they are casted live from when they are played.
