Amherst is in Western, MA. Further away than CT, yes, but it's an overnight event for the most part, so travel next day FTW!
|
BTW, if my count is right, we already have 5 BYOC computers. If this pace keep up, normal registration will start by the end of the week.
|
Wish I could go Good luck with the tournament though. Sounds like a ton of fun!

No worries, there will be a last chance final the first weekend in November right before the end of the season. I think that one is perfect timing considering MLG Prov is later in the month.

were there gonna eb a lol tourney?

On August 31 2011 21:02 Sfydjklm wrote: were there gonna eb a lol tourney? Same location. We have two rooms setup: 1 is for 10 BYOC computers that will be shared for SC2 and the owners get a discounted all night pass for letting other people use them. The other room has spots for 30 PCs, 17 of which are taken as of 2 days ago. (I will say 20 are taken due to 3 people I know are going to sign up once we open it again)
The SC2 tourney starts at 11a (normal time) and the LoL tourney starts at 6p. We may be able to stream the LoL stuff if obs mode comes out.
|
I was right! 4 registered and someone with a funky credit card XD So that's sorta like 5
|
So if I sign up for this thing do I have to bring my own computer, or are there open PC slots?
|
On September 02 2011 02:01 stiknork wrote: So if I sign up for this thing do I have to bring my own computer, or are there open PC slots? Right now it is BYOC for the first 10 computers. Once we have those (or 8 based on timing), then we will open the tourney up for 22 people to use other peoples rigs. The 22 only have the day pass. If there is space in the main room, we are working on making it so some of those 22 can bring their PC in for overnight, they would just have to pay the added fee and could not use their computer for tournament matches. We are still working on that one though.
|
PC died and now it's back up. Only 2 more computers needed before we open up the normal registration. This long weekend looks like a good time to register.

Is the tournament in early November going to be in the same place?
|
No, the tournament in early November will be in Storrs-Mansfield, CT. It's where we had qual #3. Was supposed to be in Maine, but they closed down
|
Sounds good, looking forward to it.

Sorry about the short notice, but the 1 day tickets for this event are now on sale. Registration ends on September 11. Please tell everyone you know as it is shorter notice than usual. Some extra options were also added!

I have some good news for anyone wanting to signup for the SC2 tournament, teams for the LoL tournament, or everyone that has already signed up. I just got an email from Kingston and it turns out all the gear they sent me will be for this event. I don't have all the details on hand, but the cream of the crop prize is a 96GB SSD. I will post all the prizes later today when I get home. On an equally important note, you should all head over to the Kingston FB community page and show your love for an amazing sponsor!

Remember everyone, tomorrow is the last day to register for the tournament and we have a good amount of computers now for people to use. Also, ALL spectators need to purchase a spectator pass by tomorrow as well.
One last thing. If you had so much fin that you want to stay the whole night, and just happen to have your computer nearby. $5 on site will get you in for the whole night, space available.

Hey, just signed up for the 1 day SC pass(Open). I am GuruMooster, and play Protoss. I would like to bring my laptop, is that ok?

Unless you signed up for the 2 day share pass, you can not use your laptop during the event. Now, depending on the space in the main room, if you pay the additional $5 for the 2 day pass, you can bring your laptop and set it up in there, however you can not use it during the tournament.
One of the other players is doing something similar, but with the premium seating.

There may be a problem that has only recently come up, outside the control of the New England SC2 League, Xana IT, and Amherst Media. This involves the internet connection, which directly effects everything we are trying to do. There is a tentative rain date set for October 22/23. Please note, IF the problem is not rectified, we will be emailing everyone to inform them of the change of date more than 24 hours in advance. We will also be issuing a full refund to those individuals that will not be able to attend the event if it is rescheduled.
Please bear with us we try to fix the situation.

So i already bought a 1 day SC pass(open). I want to use my laptop for the tournamnet, is there ANY way for this to happen, or it is too late?

Shoot an email over to dtucker@xanait.com to ask about upgrading from your 1day SC2 pass to a 2day SC2 pass. There is no cost difference, but you have to allow other people to use your laptop for gaming and you can stay the night if you want to. This can only be done, mind you, if we have those spots open.
|
I spoke with Dan, the head of Xana IT and co-organizer, last night on the phone. Looks like everything is back in order and we are actually going to be having fiber optic style speeds. Not super necessary for this event, but that should give us plenty of bandwidth. We are still a go!
|
Phew, scared me for a sec there, woulda been a pain for everyone to get money back and push back qualifiers even more
