The time has come for our first IGN Pro League Team Arena! This is a (follow closely) weekly winner's format team king of the hill showmatch series. For better clarification, check out our IPL Team Arena General Discussion thread!
When: Wednesday, Aug 10 12:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also have a European re-broadcast as usual at Wednesday, Aug 10 4:30pm GMT (GMT+00:00))
Prizes
The first team to defeat everyone on the opposing team's roster (5 wins, or a best of 9) will earn $500 for their team to split however they want. To make things even more interesting, we are including a $100 bounty for each victory that a team earns, for new challengers to try and claim. For example, if a team wins 3 weeks in a row, they will have earned themselves $1,500 total, and have $300 worth of bounty on them. If a new team defeats them, they will earn the $500 for winning the week, as well as claim the $300 bounty.
ReIGN is the first team to win the IPL Team Arena, and they have earned themselves $500 and a $100 bounty on their heads. Complexity Gaming is looking stronger than ever and are anxious for their chance to prove themselves this week. Here are their full rosters:

loll, if CoL is allowed to use their MVP partners, Reign is screweeeedddd.... If they can't, then I'm predicting a Reign win, but IDK, CoL is a pretty strong team too!

DRG all kill if he plays. Otherwise, RGN should win I think.

|
I voted reign, then i saw that dongraegu and genius is playing for coL...... tt
go reign!

Reign's got this unless they try to snipe Kiwikaki with some PvP dice rolls lol.

complexity seems like an overall stronger team to me (not including the Koreans)

I would disagree profusely.
Looking forward to watching this.

very interesting match up as its the two clans that the old ROOT teams became.

go reign! I had similar thoughts regarding EG and PuMa last week.
Do they work a schedule so that NA, Europe and Korea players can all play? If not, I doubt we will see Koreans play in this tournament.
|
I don't think they(MVP) will play
|
United States530 Posts
Both teams schedule their times together, so it's up to them to agree on a time that would work for Korean or European players that they might have.
|
I doubt DRG will play. If he does, I can't see coL losing... ever.
Otherwise Reign should take it.
By the way, since there was some talk about Korean teams being involved on the stream last time, what happens if MVP gets invited as well, does DRG get to play on both teams?
|
coL is pretty bad, but DRG = allkill.
|
i dont think they want to use their koreans players, first they wont probably be able to play , but also this is supposed to turn the light onto those players in the roaster that we dont see very often otherwise
|
I have a feeling that coL will take it because of their Korean players, if they do not play then I see RGN winning it.

I think people underestimate Complexity, the guys did earn their way into the EG Master's Cup playoffs at the end of the day, and made it 2nd place over some really good teams. I think they could take out Reign even without the help of their Korean partners, but with them, it's very unlikely that they'll lose.
|
I just hope the games wont be awful like the ones they showed last week.
|
Wow, Reign has some MEAN protoss! KiWi is well known as always, but Fayth, Future, and Perfect are all underrated and awesome protoss imo. (Perfect especially). Not to mention they have an AWESOME zerg and pretty damn good terran.
I see Reign taking this

Sorry, I didn't mean that REIGN will stomp complexity. I think it will be a close series even without the Koreans, but I think REIGN will edge out.
|
i am torn between who to root for was a big root fan and i love drewbie, minigun, and catz I am also a big zerg fan in general and col has more of them then reign does. but slush is my all time favorite zerg and kiwi my all time favorite protross and the rest of reign has grown on me as well.
go reign go complexity uh go everyone?
if i have to choose probably reign but i'll be happy who ever wins.

Hopefully DRG is used to playing with some lag and is up for all-killing Reign !
If not then I think Reign will take it

Ironically, KiWi was the ace during a lot of their wins.

Yes, and he was (arguably) their best player and is now playing AGAINST compLexity (ROOT). Reign definitely has an edge if compLexity does not use DRG and Genius.
|
DRG definately All kills if he plays, interested to see how Genius will do actually, he would do well, maybe losing to kiwikaki if not an all kill?
RGN wins though if CoL cant/doesnt play their Koreans, i dont honestly think that CoL has an answer to Kiwikaki and (possibly?) maybe Spades, he has played pretty well lately.
We'll see though, interested to see how good of shape Cruncher and Minigun are in.
|
I don't know why everyone keeps on saying DRG all kill if he plays, Reign is almost all Protoss, and DRG is the anti Terran... i mean he's good but so are a lot of the guys on Reign
|
|
This should be interesting, former ROOT might be playing against each other; that could be really entertaining... but coL has a deeper lineup, so I can't really see Reign winning. I guess we'll see how well Kiwikaki plays, I feel like it'd be up to him to win it for his team.

oo 10 minutes! starting match should be good, its a rematch since they played a showmatch before. putting my stock in catz though :D

Yeah, but the acquired team's combination went further to get 2nd place overall and those same acquisitions are a part of Complexity now. Yeah, the old ROOT got them far, but the new Complexity were the ones who showed their skill in the playoffs, beating out Dignitas and Fnatic.

To be fair Complexity was just playing ROOT players + Cruncher pretty much the whole tournament.

Yeah, no doubt that Complexity's best players are the former-ROOT guys, plus a couple of old Complexity guys. However that doesn't really matter since they are a part of Complexity now, so in regards to their strength in this event and their success in the EGMC, the Complexity we saw in the playoffs is the Complexity we should be seeing here.
That's my only point... Complexity is pretty good(post-acquisition) and they did perform well in the Master's Cup playoffs.
|
lol who voted for coL?
who is going to be slush and kiwi ? the rest will not even matter anyways
|
yeah i don;t think it's fair to say that complexity as a whole didn't do very well in the mastercup and instead road kiwi/slush to get were they are thats just not true. they made second and it was with the team they currently have not kiwi/slush.
however i think it is fair to point out that one of the matches in the mastercup is a 2v2 which drewbie/catz usually won and the other teams weren't as used too. I am all for 2v2 in the master cup i think it's a great shake up but it contributed to complexity getting as far as they did and it won't be a factor in this league.

Oh man, sick players from both teams This is gonna be one amazing series Can't wait to see the battle between the old ROOT members :p

I just want to see Kiwikaki play so im hoping that complexity wins a few games so that Kiwikaki can come out and win.

What is the likely hood of DRG and Genius coming out to play? The match will be pretty early in the morning for them (and puma never showed for EG).

I'm going to say close to 0 if not 0. I expect Puma to play for EG at some point, my guess is Genius and DRG aren't going to be playing for Complexity at any team event in the near future, even if they can, mostly because they need to focus on GSL, and technically their primary loyalty is to MVP.

Good job so far.

Cruncher wins! I want to see build. 3 stalker WG rush.

I hope you don't mean me but then again, you didn't pay attention to the OP. Its IGN's Joshy. Where do you see leaked results? Its currently in game 5 - Cruncher vs Future PvP.
If you were talking to me, page 4 of a live thread doesn't require <spoilers> afaik.

That was an interesting rush

if you go back through the pages some ones posted what the supposed result of this were hours before this stream and it's been acturate so far all i am saying. according to it well i won't say but i won;t be supprised if i know who is going to win and close it out.

it's kind of strange that he hasn't played on it before isn't it loser's pick after all? i guess he must of just gone with the regular rotation.

slush doing a really solid build, defending early and switching to mutas after fending off the front and the drops.
slush doing well, i haven't watched his play before.

takes out the tanks ! only marines left yeaaaaaaaah slush.

yeaaaaaah and now slush pushes back with roaches blings and mutas.
drewbie with not that much ! slush looking good.

|
Very cool roach sling bling defence. Slush looking strong.
|
|
again no tanks for drewbie, denied the 3rd, 3rd base up for slush . Wow slush is good.
hahaha slush making 36 lings, sweet.
|
Drewbie dude, you need to work on that macro. Some epic supply blocks there.
|
nvm what drewbie macro'ing a lot and slush sitting by...
ENGAGEMENT drewbie holds but runs in and LOL ALL THE MARINES DIE
|
Ouch, seeing Drewbie throw away those marines was painful to watch.
|
sluuuuuuuuuuush..... lots of bling about to run over drewbie.
|
nvm i take back a lot of my compliments slush has a pretty bad endgame.
|
HD called that game over about 30 times over the course of the last 15 minutes. -.-
|
Hmm awesome series, I think. Reign has impressed me a lot. Slush is great. Near the end, Drewbie couldn't keep up though It sucks that he hasn't played that map before. Either way, I've been enjoying these Team Arena matches. Keep 'em up!
FXO vs Reign will be awesome to watch as well!
