I don't think anyone legitimately pretends that Protoss is mechanically demanding, but watching top level protoss (mainly MC comes to mind) use clutch Sentry forcefields and Phoenix harass is pretty impressive (NASL Grand Final vs Puma = wow). If the Protoss player screws up their forcefields it will easily lose them the game on the spot or put them behind in the engagement. But conversely, good forcefields will make engagements that look like the Protoss player should lose come out even, or even on top.

Overall the deathball style just doesn't require as much micro. Zealots in front, 1 a+click, forcefields to split the army as much as possible, move the injured colossus back from vikings/press T and storm the trapped army (depending on if you're using colo. deathball or templar).


I can't believe that this idea is still prevailing from the BW days. Protoss is just as mechanically demanding, and if you don't think so then you don't understand the highest level of play. Just watch any PvZ or PvT from the GSL and you will notice that the toss NEEDS to micro like a madman, blinking, forcefielding perfectly in order to not JUST DIE. Toss is the LEAST forgiving race when it comes to micro.


I second this. I used to think Zerg was the most a-movy race in the game but if you check out DRG in this video it shows that every race is can be equally APM intensive.
