I woke up this morning to my inbox being assaulted. Sex jokes aside, there are now 15 people registered in less than 12 hours. Aside form filling quick, this looks to be an incredible event even if only 1/2 these guys show up. Looks like it might be New England vs NJ/NY in this one

Yes and no. Problem is now every computer LAN center in New England is south of the CT/RI border, including the one on the Cape. At least, if word is true that CCG is closing down. Chances are though it will be finals only or an every other LAN. I have to work some numbers out.

With 2 PMs that I just got, we are now up to 28 players registered! This is the first time since S1T1 that we may have an overflow of registrations. Now note, if it does go over 32, I will start a backup list to fill any spots that become vacated. Even on the day of the tournament, some people are no call no show, so you may want to come anyway just in case you get in.
Besides, did you see all the free stuff we have?

I just spoke with the LAN center, we have 16 computers to start the tourney with and will be knocked down to ~14/12 after round 1 of the lower bracket. Widescreen monitors and should run the game on at least medium. He is making a flier and seeing if Gaming Grub will send some stuff. You know, this place called Friendly Fire Gaming Center, is pretty sweet

Nah, you can always just set up some proxy pylons ahead of time and warp over to the center, you can make it in time if u chrono ur warp gate tech. :D

The 4th qual is going to be in Amherst, MA. It's a complicated tournament, but it will be an all nighter with LoL and Sc2 in the same place.

Just under 3 weeks left for this tournament and we already have ~28 people signed up. Looking forward to catch several of you stragglers out there and get you in. Remember, the more participants, the larger the prize pool, the larger the pot at the end of the season.

Door prizes are distributed randomly. By signing up to play OR coming to spectate, your name is put on a comprehensive list. We then assign a number 1-## and use random.org to get the winner of whichever item. The later in the tournament, the bigger the prize. Once you win you can't win again that day unless we have less than 20-ish people total.

If you notice you are not on the list and you signed up over a week ago, something happened. Mainly, you never registered on the NESC2League forums. That is one of the pre-reqs for registering, so other players were moved ahead of you. I know of at least 3 people that are in that situation and haven't even replied to their PMs on this website.

Edit: I don't know if this has been said, but anyone who is on the wait list should DEFINITELY come to the event because sometimes a person or two will register and not show up... Not to mention that if you pay $5 to watch the event, you are automatically entered into a raffle to win sweet computer gear... up to 12GB of Kingston HyperX memory and a 64GB External SSD are some notables... but there are lots of cool things to be won! Yes except for bagelz and Consuskev. They have been replaced by ignorant and AGIANTSMURF. That is up to date as of yesterday and there are 3 names in reserve atm.
I spoke with them this afternoon. We won't have all 16 computers, but we should have at least 12. Also, most of them can run on at bare minimum med settings. A few of them can rock higher than that.

Doors at 10a Start at 11a. It will actually probably start 5-10mins after 11 just because of no-shows and substitutes that are on the waitlist.

The same argument can be said about forcing people to use all low settings. If you practice with high settings all the time and I use low settings, being forced to use low settings gives me the advantage because I'm used to it and can recognize those fluctuations showing a cloaked unit. I've set these tournaments up so that as many things as possible are controlled without hampering too many players. Just like with monitors. You have to use the monitors provided unless it's the finals. This makes a difference for 4:3 and 16 when playing on a different screen and vice versa.
Even with all these variables, I have seen very good players do well with a bunch of settings stacked against them and I have seen the opposite of the same level players.
Maybe Ryan can answer if all settings have to be on low for major tournaments, MLG?

Remember, doors open this weekend at 10am and we will begin the tournament a little after 11 in case we need to sub-in people on the wait list. We will be streaming live on the New England SC2 League stream and handing out sponsor prizes throughout the event. There will also be some free swag from Cooler Master and Kingston there as well as league T-shirts.
The shirts you can buy for $20 (down from $25) and are in just about every size. I'd love to see a floor full of them at MLG Prov

If you are not playing on what you practice on, then its a disadvantage.
If you think you can see cloaked units better on higher settings then practice and play on high.
Personally, it doesnt even feel like the same game when I am playing on low. Its hard to distinguish colors, and things seem to blend together.
