Enough money for two events? I can sum up my thoughts in 3 words:

Team league invitational.

The most entertaining format for sc2 and what with all the recent trade purchases teams have been doing it should mix things up. Get to work on it TB.

Well, nothing else to be said about this event, now for the next one :

- Please TB stop talking over Apollo, let him finish before you start, not good manners indeed. and doesnt matter who is play-by-play and who is analyst, just let him finish
- I would rather prefer one event to be only EU, next month only US, the other only korean, etc... than this move move servers and extra issues
- I think that's for everyone: please do a SCI9- Winners! with only the winners of the past 8 SCI.
- take the other 3 months to rest
- can't wait for the next one :D

only opinions, don't flame ^^
Just a small comment to your point about the SCI9. This time TB invited 1st and 2nd place from SC1 and said last night that he would most likely invite DDE and Socke next time, if that trend continues the same person could win more than once, and make it hard to do a tourney with only former winners.
Live to win

Spot on post-mortem.

Even considering DDE and Day 2's technical difficulties, the pace and quality of the event, casting, and games was easily in excess of the bigger tournaments, and the complete opposite of the shambolic displays we've had from the likes of NASL and MLG. THIS is the kind of performance from players, casters, and organisers alike that we need for the SC2 esports scene to stand a chance of going mainstream outside of Korea.

Short of demanding the players cheese every other game, or going >2 days (Which I agree, I wouldn't want to see) I can't see a way around the tiredness problem towards the end of day 2 if you have more epic 30+ minute matches. DO NOT give up the Bo5/Bo7 format either. I don't know, maybe the possibility of a "guest" commentating duo for the bronze match? Give yourselves a break before the big finale. Day9, Tasteosis, husky, LAGTV, imba, there are dozens of casters who might not be available for a weekend tournament, but would be happy to do a single Bo5?

Maybe trial that tied in with the Nominational - giving both lesser known players and casters a big stage to work on. Just throwing ideas out randomly, don't mind me.

Besides the 1st (and I think 2nd?) place players being re-invited, that would leave 6 spots. I understand no koreans for the time zone reason. Perhaps you could create a poll on your website/TL/other sites asking your fanbase who'd they want to see? Then you could extend invites to the top 6 vote getters and if any of the players decline or cannot attend, then you can just go down the line.

I don't remember seeing this..but how were the 6-7 spots in the 2nd Invitational filled?

Note: 'Bigger' is a pretty vague adjective and somewhat biased based on each individual. In the above post, I'm assuming 'Bigger' = an adjective for a player that the SC2 community would want to watch compete. At the end of the day, it'd be great to see a $5k capped tourny (like yours) get 50k+ live watchers in a single moment.

That's a great idea.

question is location: TL or TB site?
either way, great idea.

really nice event. The downtime was very short. Nice invites. I hope HasuObs gets invited next time so. =)
And i was kinda surprised about TotalBiscuit's game knowledge. It was not bad at all. Actually very good. Not sure where the flames came from that he doesn't analyse and stuff like that. Apollo as a co caster was a good addition. It also was nice to hear some British English (nothing against the American accent ^^ ).

A community poll for a couple of the slots would be really sweet, I think.

I'd vote for Select as he's really exciting to watch and a really high level terran player.

Edit: Select vs. Destiny? <3
Protoss win, Protoss OP. Terran win, Terran OP. Zerg win, Zerg OP. Less whine, more gg.

- I agree that the SCI should remain a 2 day events without any qualifications, straight in the finals. Having tournaments drag on for ages before reaching the finals (GFAP, IGN, NASL, ...) just make me lose interest before it gets good, and has way too many games that don't have nice quality.

- I think a maxed out SCI prizepool would be preferable. It is what the donations were gathered for in the first place. I don't know if a 2nd event is really needed tbh. Maybe a show match or 2. Add revenue can be saved up for future SCI as well, to keep it stable.

Having more events might also spread the magic thinner.

- I don't really think the invitations need reviewing. I believe the matchups in both events were outstanding. I don't see added value in having public discussions or playoffs for a spot for who should be in it. Unless we see complete unknowns from platinum league appear, I think we can rely on TB&Co to get a decent line-up, as they have proven this now.

- Technical problems are a bitch, but they didn't take that much time, compared to rescheduling and 1h macro games anyway . Maybe timings can be reviewed. Start at 17.00 CET, and not rescheduling games. Maybe take harsh measures and calling in a forfait for players not being prepared to play on multiple servers.

- Do agree with most other stuff though. Except for a little idra battling in this thread and the chat, the atmosphere was nice. Casting was amazing and real funny at times. Even Apollo being tired taught us many ways in which you can pronounce dde. :p

Biggest challenge will be for SCI 3 to be as good as this one. Biggest improvement will probably be in the game timings, so it doesn't carry on till 3AM. Monday morning was horrible at work.

The invitational could have the following people invited:

1) 1st place from the previous invitational
2) 2nd place from the previous invitational
3) A player selected by highest donator from the previous invitational
4) A champion from a past invitational
5) A challenger selected from a past invitational
6) Poll: People's Choice
7) Poll: People's Choice
8) Poll: People's Choice

Something along those lines?

please don´t split your youtube channel I find it always annoying if people do that, and there will never be as many viewers as there would have been before.

So you only want to give the BIGGER names the chance to win these higher prize pools? Personally i would like to see some lesser known mixed with some more known/famous players.

Id rather watch 2x 2500/3500 dollar tourny's then 5000 dollar in 1 go. I think the prize pool for this event was pretty much perfect for a 2 day tourny. Id like to hear TB's opinion of this tho.

Great job TB. I really like how the event was community sponsored. It was nice to not have any overlays in the games for companies.
