Can't believe I actually rely on a Terran whiping MC's butt... sad day for Zerg -.-

dude if anyone can take out mc there its a korean terran.

korean terrans are just scary as shit in general.

Yeah sure but the fact that I have to trust on Koriterrans because Zergs aren't able to handle it is a disgrace...

You have the best Protoss in the world arguable facing a good Zerg but who isn't the same skill level as him, but MC still had some tough games and should have lost if Sen didn't make so many Broods, yet you passively cry about balance? Imagine if that was NesTea or DRG playing, MC would have got rolled. ZvP feels like its favored towards Zerg, the best Toss right now shouldn't be sweating it against anyone other than the best Zergs really

Can you seriously say that the level of SEn play today wasn't in the same boat than Losira or Nestea ZvP ?
These games were insane.

Sen played very well in many aspects, and no doubt he deserved to be in the top few for NASL... but mainly he studied and countered MC's builds that have been very well known lately. 1 Gate fast expand stargate. Hmmm, make spore crawlers and lots of queens, maybe fast hydras or muta/corruptor. If he goes for a dark templar rush, your spores cover you. Yep, that sums up the opening pretty well I'd say.

The thing I admired Sen for doing well was countering smoothly and not being too greedy early on (waiting till last minute to build a spore... or only one spore for 3 bases, etc.). That got him into the late game sitting pretty. Stargate is a risky tech if Zerg desides to plan for it, because late game infestors/banes/broodlords are hard to deal with. Vs Fungal, blink becomes semi-useless and air becomes semi-useless. What then? Bane drops vs. forcefields and fungals are rough. Forcefields counter banelings only early on... later baneling drops counter sentries unless the Protoss has breathing room to FF retreat and the Zerg doesn't smartly back off to allow wasted sentry energy.

Protoss needs perfect psi storms, instant reaction time against bane drops on probes, and a little luck with dark templars or something. Sums up the end of the last couple of games pretty well I'd say.

So it's no wonder so many Protoss are going for 2 base all-ins vs Zerg most of the time. MC probably should have tried it at least one game.

But Sen's big battle micro was lacking... his engagements were often not carefully done and it along with other mistakes cost him. NesTea would have had better engagements and wouldn't lose to dark templars, especially once he saw the tech out.

I wish MC would do more his old style 4/5/6 gate timing attacks to mix things up. He's getting too predictable and tries to force macro games sometimes resulting in loses and definitely predicting penix /VR harass putting him behind. I think he took early criticism to heart unfortunately making his arsenal weaker.

4/5/6 gate timing attacks aren't as good as they used to be.
zergs got so much better at defending them, they're finally a great risk for protoss.

Yes they are. See dreamhack where sen got rolled by them and MC has best in the world. His gateway rushes are safest build he can do but I think he got too much heat for it so he's playing macro more.

I would like to express my feelings about Puma's pay day. WTF. He beats a bunch of master's league foreigners, one decent foreigner (Ret), a couple of his team members, Squirtle (someone that cant get through round 1 in code A) and July (who is undoubtedly in a slump lately). Now he is guaranteed to get payed approximately as much as a GSL winner and if he beats MC a lot more than that. Bottom line = expect Koreans to flood the "foreigner" scene

Many problems with this comment, people that say "struggled to make it through Code A/is Code B" as if it makes them a terrible player still are obviously pretty unaware of what they're talking about.

Puma has beaten seed #1, #8 and #10 pretty easily, only really struggling against Squirtle(the Code B "cant get through round 1 in code A" player xD). What makes you think he wouldn't of qualified if he played in the regular season anyway(which, by the way was impossible to occur due to the "qualification" for season 1 essentially being a popularity contest and he was essentially unknown to most people)? The open tournament idea isn't new, people have known about it since the tournament was announced - noone complained back then.

GSL 1st place regular season is about the same as 1st place NASL, give or take a little bit depending on exchange rate.

If anything, Puma's success demonstrated that the NASL format works. Stack the odds 15:1 against the Open bracket (14:2 this season), and let them loose. Puma did that and deserves to be swimming in the money, and NASL had crowned a new prince of starcraft.

Color me surprised if he fails to win a GSL sometime this year.
Thank God and gunrun.

Look, they're probably friends, they don't actually HATE each other...I remember people going apeshit over MC's manner nexus to July in March finals, when in reality they're good friends and MC is one of the people who convinced July to play SC2... The amount that people try to read into ceremonies is ridiculous.

Exactly, MC is mostly being a showman because that makes the matches more interesting. Though sometimes he does indeed show his anger, like in the Code S Group H elimination where he ended up eliminating oGsInca, because TSL_aLive put him (Inca) in this group. After that last game between MC and aLive, MC walked up to his booth and dissed him for that.

u mean kyrix, alive got owned by huk, damn this guy has to be the most embarrassed player in the korean community right now, getting outclassed by Huk and losing to Darkforce within a few.

Good series between MC and Sen. My only complaint is the use of outdated maps.

Oh and btw, I just love that MC has learned so much English. Awesome player, awesome speaker

I definitely wouldn't say that "it works." There are probably a dozen+ players from the open bracket who are just as good as, if not better than, most of the players that made playoffs. The fact that we only see 2 of those players while 14 made it through from a invitational battle of attention spans pretty much guarantees an open player will do well.

Look at tournaments like TSL3 and the few recent MLGs. Players who make it through the open bracket systems end up dominating almost every player that was invited. The only times when open players do poorly is when the open qualified get matched up against each other or they are disadvantaged when they finally get to the REAL competition (MLG).

I passed out mid game 5. I remember Tastosis wondering what tech path MC was going to take and then I wake up at 1 pm.

I feel so bad for Sen, game 4 is going to haunt him for a long time. I just hope that, when the Koreans>Foreigners talk starts, people remember how he was a few less broodlords away from knocking out one of the greatest Koreans. I wonder what he'll be doing this summer, presumably he's on a break till the next school year starts, so will we see him at MLG, or maybe trying to qualify for code a?

Also what happened with Sen and the mengst statue?

He attacked it in game 5 with his brood lords

It really didn't matter, DT killed 2 of his bases, and MC army killed his gold. His main was mined out. He had his natural + third vs MC's 3 base, taking the gold.

He was also down on supply, with only a few (like 6?) brood lords, just to spend his banked 2k gas.

He was dead already.

Why do people say Huk is Korean. He is a foreigner who trains with Koreans... What is not to understand. If you are in the same environment you will adapt. He trains as hard as they do... that is why he can compete.

Because this stems from an argument long ago when people were saying there are zero good foreign players. People would use SelecT as an example of a strong foreign Terran when HE is Korean but living/training in North America. Foreigners would argue that because SelecT trains in NA, he is considered a NA Terran.

At the same time, people back then tossed HuK under a bus and attributed him as an example of how "the Korean training system doesn't always guarantee superiority", since HuK was performing badly in Korea.

I called it long ago that if HuK ever started winning anything, that foreigners would soon classify him as a foreigner again.

Now that HuK is showing success through two recent championships, people are being hypocrites and are warmly embracing HuK as a "foreigner" again. It's so ridiculous AND sad how DESPERATE foreigners are to have a "foreign champion".

If foreigners consider SelecT a NA Terran, and that was something foreigners on this forum no longer wanted to argue and wanted to set it in stone, then HuK by that logic is Korean, and this topic should no longer be revisited.

why isnt the first post updated?
shows that mc and sen went 2-2 and then doesnt give a winner or even a map of the last game. and then it doesnt tell you which 2 are advancing in the spoiler bit below it.
Is the ONLY way to watch these games now if you pay and watch on nasl.tv?
no rebroadcast or anything?

No, the vod's that are up are 30 minutes long, and are only part 1 of each series. Part 2, I just noticed, is somewhat inconspicuously displayed on the same screen as a URL you can copy, but it took me like 4 looks to finally find that. Or it's displayed at the end of part 1 at the end screen. The problem is that it's hard to find ^^.
