I really wanna watch the game on Crossfire and see exactly what the armies were and how the batlle went. I was baffled that MC won after stupidly losing 2 colossi and getting his whole army EMP-ed.

What reason would this be? They put the most money into training for it?

I can't believe I had to write that.

Yeah can we please just end this shit? I'm sick of people who can't just take a comment like "Korea will always be better than foreigners", they feel like the comment is a 'racial challenge' and will throw essay explanations of how Korea's pro scene and infrastructure is better bla bla bla... we get it, we don't need you to explain it. Just accept it. Foreigners will never, ever, ever be better than Koreans in Starcraft. I'm "foreigner", and I've accepted it. So lets end this senseless debate shit on a tournament LR thread ffs....

No offense but that's a pretty stupid comment from Torch. Interacting with the community doesn't make you a worse gamer by any means. Korean dominance has more do to with the (politically incorrect) fact that the average intelligence is higher in Korea and in East Asia in general, and that is also the reason China is pumping out millions of engineers and scientists, and Japan is a leader in hi-tech industries.

And that's a big part of the reason why we see Koreans dominating these competitions.

I'm really interested to see greenlanders play starcraft.

The picture made its rounds on reddit a few weeks ago, the majority pointed out it's inaccuracy: Look at North Korea.

That is incorrect. The majority tried to come up with explanations why this would be inaccurate, but no criticism would stick. Richard Lynn has spend whole books countering the arguments you are referring to, and he has done so well. Regarding the North Korean datapoint - it is based on a (relatively small) number of North Korean refugees in South Korea. Many other countries' datapoints are also based on small sample sizes. This is, however, irrelevant. Many studies have found the same broader pattern to be true, regardless of small variations in average IQ as a result of small sample size in some datapoints.

Richard Lynn huh? Credible guy. IQ is such an outdated and arbitrary measurement I'm surprised we haven't moved on to something with a little more relevance yet.

But the reason koreans are doing so well in sc2 is of course due to a culture of good work ethics and a long established infrastructure for e-sport leading to the forming of teams and team houses almost immediately after sc2 release..

Uh the reason IQs in africa are so low has nothing to do with Africans being dumber and everything to do with IQ tests being culturally skewed towards a western idea of intelligence. IQ does not equal general intelligence, there is a correlation but it's certainly not a true indicator of intelligence

so thats why asia has the highest iq ;s?

Asia is certainly beating the west at its own game and has been for the past few decades. (If we're talking reasons, primary one is probably education, education in the US for example for the average citizen is fairly sub-par). The US has a pretty deep seed of anti-intellectualism in a lot of its political thought, intelligence isn't really valued here like it is in Asian countries. I don't know enough about europe to say.

as far as I know, IQ is hereditary and has nothing to do with quality of education??

if by hereditary, you mean the environment you grow up in.. ie if Einstein had kids, he would obviously be telling them about his theories/experiments enough that they would eventually pick up things from it.. as opposed to if Einstein gave his kids away for adoption to a drunken drug-using trailorpark family who can't afford to put their kids in school... chances are they would score significantly lower on an IQ test.

Nature vs Nurture.

That is stupid argument, what has intelligence has to do with SC2 ? Also note that the differences in IQ are miniscule compared to difference in SC2 performance.

5 point differences in IQ are easily achieved by cultural and educational influences (see your own map).

As for engineers and scientists, West was pumping much more of them in the past, it is more cultural/societal difference as western societies are somewhat neglecting those areas.

July vs Huk is hard to predict. It will be insanely close I think.

Bomber will destroy Moon though I hope Moon can pull something off.

Its pretty stupid to think that koreans are smarter then white/black people. Its clearly a matter of work ethic and not IQ. Koreans pratice more, simple as that.

On IQ test; They are pretty irrelevent, they only messure one skill, and disgard importent skills like retorical skills, social skills and other skills that are often more importent then logical skills to survive in todays society (Look at someone like Sara Pahlin).

The chart is well known, it comes from Richard Lynn (a british university teacher), he established a mathematical correlation between national IQ and wealth. Problem is the samples for IQ test are barely believable, either for the top ones (like China and North Korea, you may have a lot of azn pride, but it is well known that there is a lot of state manipulation for this kind of data) and the bottom ones (samples for african countries are small or old, as IQ tests are not used a lot outside anglosaxon countries). More importantly, a statistical correlation fails to prove a causality relationship. And even if you accept the initial hypothesis of Lynn (races do exist, IQ measures intelligence... two things he fails to prove... at least, i wasn't convinced by his arguments), his conclusions are pretty biased as he thinks the low IQ explains wealth inequality. You could perfectly say that poverty and institutional crisis explains the bad performances in IQ tests.

Soryy, i posted it before the moderation call. I just wanted to give some date on the chart as it appears from time to time, and i have some (little) experience on this field.

Where did you get that chart? Stormfront? Keep your racist shit outta here.

Oh and if players were top smart they would not be gamers but surgeons and scientists.

No, this picture is from Wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IQ_and_Global_Inequality

But I think it says a lot about you, that you think it's from Stormfront.

And regarding you last statement - I am both a doctor (med student) and a gamer. That may be anecdotal, but I'm pretty sure all pro SC2 gamers are high-IQ individuals. Idra, for example, has said he is going to study physics after SC2.

Well Wikipedia has 0 credibility, I think it says a lot about you.
