We will be moderating harshly in this thread. Think twice before you post. Things we are watching for: image macros, balance whining, "eagles", player bashing etc. We encourage civil and reasoned critique of our moderation - please post it in the website feedback forum.
Please don't complain about MLG stream quality or MLG itself. They work very hard to provide you with an enjoyable service.
Enough with the racism discussions, this is a LR Thread. Cut it out. -- updated 7:55 KST

Good analogy. That's eastern Africa though. Americans are bad enough with geography without additional confusion .
Woops, you're right. Should have gone to sleep after the finals ended. :p

That's why so many people are butthurt about idra losing, even though he got 4th place. They wanted idra to beat the koreans but he gave up
Yea dude he must've given not. It's not like he was outclassed and outplayed or anything.
given not?
Idra wasn't outclassed in any way. In short he played like shit because of what he did to himself. His mental state was nowhere close to where it was for the first day in which he cleaned out his group.
Idra crushed himself more than anyone else could have.
That's the beginning of the end for him and cheesing MC repeatedly didn't help.
We all looked exactly like Day[9] did. There were a sea of Sean Plott faces, until someone yelled "What the fuck, IdrA?" And then we all kinda grumbled, someone mentioned HuK's void rays, and then MMA beat IdrA 5 minutes later So sad x.x
The only thing more hilarious might be MMA's double-take when IdrA GG'd. I mean, it was a really sad moment, but ... goddammit, IdrA, you give us some wonderfully amusing games to chew on.
Always gonna be a fan, if only for that.
Yeah in the chat afterwards, MMA typed something along the lines of "why gg? no understand?" Even he didn't know why IdrA gave up lol

Streaming dual rebroadcasts for those who missed it and don't want to start at the beginning. Up to the start of Naniwa vs Losira. Don't wanna post the link cos it's probably taking advertising too far but it's on justintv. Search my username.

Haha, I'm actually surprised no one has brought that up. Except I don't think Huk is as good as MMA. I think MMA had an off day against him because, to be honest, I think Huk is about mid-code A level, and is certainly one of the lower code S players. But I digress. MMA has shown how good he CAN be in GSLTL and now in MLG. He's definitely code S quality in my mind.
I just got back to my computer after having to leave about 9 hours ago (I missed the finals), and I'm just wondering if Idra ever gave a reason for leaving that first game vs. MMA?
Also, thanks to MLG and all the staff, casters, and players for putting together a really great event.
Man, I was sad I missed the games I was on a trip. Even more sad when I heard the top three were Korean. I was really hoping some foreigners would step up to the challenge. Oh well, still a lot of time left in the life of starcraft 2... enough for the foreign players to catch up hopefully ;p

Most of the VoDs (incl. fast forwarding function) are already online on the MLG website though - just click on the three dashes on the MLG player.

Apparently Kennigit is interviewing him and the video is in the process of being uploaded.
Okay, so this thread is huge and it may have already been acknowledged. But we've only seen one half of the MLG/GSL exchange with the Koreans coming and dominating at MLG. Is any foreigner going to take the code A position to complete the exchange, or are they all going to make excuses to decline?

Won't the points that MMA gets for winning put him into the top 16?
yeah but MLG wont cover for his flight+hotel in Anaheim, so Slayers need to prepare the $$$
MLG will pay for the next 4 different Korean only (if they stick with their original announcement)
I think they should support the reigning MLG champ. Kind of silly to have the reigning MLG champion not present at their next event.
did they pay for Naniwa flight+hotel for Colombus? I doubt so :-/
Well in all honesty, I wouldn't be too disapointed in our foreigners. Even if Koreans only eliminated Koreans etc. think about of whom we are speaking. July and LosirA are top 5 zerg in Korea, MC probably the best protoss, and MMA has the potential to be top 5 as well. IdrA tilted terribly in his series versus MC and MMA. NaNiwa was up against perhaps the best ZvP in the world against a player with a new type of strategy, and did fairly well considering this. Thorzain actually would have won his 2nd series vs. MC if it had not been extended.
Honestly if foreigners just put some more time and dedication into the game I'm sure some of them would reach the level that LosirA, MMA, July, and MC are at. Naniwa and ThorZain would easily be Code-S. Other European players such as MorroW, Dimaga, Mana, Whitera, Naama all clearly have a ton of skill at their disposal and just need to devote themselves to the game. IdrA needs to fix his mindset and he would probably be so as well.
Regardless, these are just opinions. I was very impressed with this MLG, and hope the next will be at least as good.

MMA pushed out, IdrA stopped it successfully. MMA had a small drop in the back of IdrA's base which was a bit annoying but not game-breaking. MMA *didn't* have the gold expo up (he accidentally killed his own OC lol) which caused him to push out in the first place... but IdrA thought MMA was a lot further ahead than he actually was. Therefore, although IdrA decisively smashed MMA's push, IdrA gg'ed. He would have toppled MMA easily with a counter attack (or could have macroed or whatever).

You can go to the MLG website and watch the VOD, but basically Idra was way ahead in Game 1 and was most likely going to win. He pushed in the middle of the map, destroying a big part of MMA's army, and as he pushed up he saw that MMA had taken his gold expansion (though it was late...watch the VOD), and then he just abruptly GG'ed. Honestly when I saw it I thought he was being really BM and saying GG as if to say "OK I won, you should leave the game now," that's how far ahead he was.
Anyone know the complete final standings so we can figure out who the top 24 are in points after this event and kind of guess at who the 16 players will be that get put in pool play for Anaheim?
