You don't understand: making the tech switch is completely fine once you've decided to stop building colossi, but it's not easy to do that while continuing to build colossi. You need to cut somewhere, and most pro players would rather not. Also, pure colossus vs. upgraded vikings do die, but if you do it right, generally you crush the bio army and have tons of gateway left over, and thus win the game, so it doesn't matter. The tech switch comes after that first engagement, when there are still vikings left over, but you don't make anymore colossi at that point. 6 gas is enough to build both, but you can't also make stalkers or sentries, which are important. I'm not saying that building both is bad necessarily, I'm pointing out some weaknesses, which is why most protoss players do not do it. Mana does, but there aren't a lot that have both at the same time. HasuObs is another Protoss who does. | ||
