Is anyone struggling to follow IPL?

I can't tell what games are being played...who is playing...who is getting knocked out...when games are supposed to be played.

All this IPL TV stuff confuses me, especially since I'm watching so many matches I've seen before.

Well, the brackets and schedule is easily available on the website, but still, something feels off in this tournament which is why i don't really watch it, eventhough i watched every game of the NASL, which had less production value.

Can't put my finger on what exactly makes me not really follow this tournament though (except when i'm extremely bored, like i'm now).

Well, the brackets are updated pretty slowly because of the EU broadcasting, and by the time the EU broadcast finishes its already time for the next day's games, more or less.

So I don't really get to know who is playing on a night until the games are actually starting if I miss a day.

I am struggling as well. I tuned in once, and both players in the game were not listed in the bracket, so I wasn't sure what the match was about. The commentators never explained.

I tuned in about a week later, and it was the same match. So, needless to say, I was even more confused. I suppose I could really try to figure it out, but for some reason this tournament feels like it takes way more effort to "figure out" what's going on than other tournaments.

I can't follow the flow of the tournament either but tbh, I really enjoy the fact that I can pretty much tune in to the IPL channel at any time and see a good game, what with all the replays they're putting on. I don't have enough time to follow specific tournies anyway so this format works really well for me, it's almost like my SC2 channel! Easier access to the brackets would help following I guess.

BTW great work so far on the content. Casters are all really good.

I am you, and you are me.

The problem is that they have 3 or 4 tournament broadcasting days and in between the IPL TV with random replays casted. Plus there seems to be some kind of downtime this week (at least I haven't seen any broadcast yet).

What makes it really hard for me to follow is the fact that the new tourney games are placed over the weekend while the filler content is in the middle of the week. This makes little sense in my eyes.

Viewers are either looking for a regular show during the week (Mon - Thur) OR for a show on the weekend (Fri - Sun). The weekend is usually blocked by LAN tourneys so wouldn't it make sense for IPL to broadcast Monday through Thursday? If you place a summarizing show on the weekend, everyone is covered.

This tournament is impossible to follow. It's bad enough that it is a double elimination tournament and you guys have chosen to broadcast EVERY single game over the time of a couple months but you also have so much filler content that just confuses everyone. This doesn't even include the 2 month period or something that you guys were broadcasting qualifiers. There is a limit to how much content you can put out for a 32 man tournament. Sure you may get more hours viewed overall on your streams but you will never reach the interest levels for example of a MLG or GSL. The fact that you've been casting games for 2-3 months now and there are 54 pages in this thread is sound evidence.

Confusing schedule and a ton of mediocre players. You should have capped the players at 16 or even lower if you are not going to invite koreans, a lot of these games are either not competitive or I don't give shit who wins because they don't have a prayer at winning the tournament.

Suggestions:
- Shorten tournament, don't stretch it out over months with filler days all over.

- Invite better players (read: koreans), or not as many players (which would make the overall quality of the players better either way).

-Less lag time. It is ridiculous that it takes you over a month to post-produce this content. The production has been fine on a whole, but for a month's worth of lag-time in post production I would expect it to be a ton better.

I don't know why it's so hard for you guys to follow this tournament. I haven't even paid much attention to it but I know based on the tiny bit of reading I did that the IPL TV days are not the actual tournament, and the "IPL 2 Day _" casts are the actual tournament. There's a thread for each day in the SC2 Tourneys forum, which clearly shows the day's matches and has links to the broadcast schedule and everything else you might need. I went to the website and found the bracket within 30 seconds. Seems pretty simple to me.

It's also unfair to criticize the IPL on the grounds that it doesn't have the "interest levels for example of a MLG or GSL" and doesn't have the same caliber of players as those tournaments. This is actually the first full-fledged IPL season (since season one was just a precursor) so obviously it's not going to have the same viewership as the two biggest SC2 leagues. And to the guy above me who implied that there are only 16 good non-koreans (the rest are "mediocre"), I hope you don't expect them to take your criticism seriously. I know it's the internet and all, but you have to realize that silly exaggerations aren't effective method of communication.

I'm just not impressed with the player pool - though the production is great. Some of the casters do not seem much to have to offer in terms of analysis and are leaning more towards showmanship in my humble opinion. Anyway, best of luck to IGN -- I still watch from time to time.

Me too.

Just check this thread. Theres only 50 pages. This shows how much ppl are interested. Assembly, for example, has like three times the number of pages, and. so far, one day of tournament has been ran.
