People who are anti-MC really need to get their head out of their ass.
Yes, Thorzain's a good player and played well. He won. Is he better than MC? No. Would he win if MC had time to prepare like Thorzain did? Probably not. Would he win if MC had used his usual builds? Probably not.
He won, but not convincingly, and not because oGsMC sucks. 3-2 is nothing to be arrogant about. MC bashers are just as bad, or even worse, than MC nuthuggers.

MC is a great protoss and ThorzaiN happens to be a great terran, why can't it just be a great series where the best player won? We dont need to start delving into their respective situations.. people can never accept their favourites to lose so they make excuses like this up

What's up with all the bickering about who is the better player? Yesterday we were treated with amazing games, absolutely brilliant play by both Thorzain and MC. I'm so happy that I got to see it live. The games, casting, production, everything was top quality.
Why is it so hard to appreciate the beauty of it, rather than being all negative nancies?

Interesting series between MC and Thorzain. The first three games were meh, but game 4 was really back and forth with some great plays thrown in, and I love Thorzain's Thor build.
I don't see what all the arguing is about, though. MC lost two games where his early tech didn't pay off, and one to a really good, unusual build. Why is that so unbelievable? Thorzain is really good. So is MC. MC has been in a ton of tournaments recently, and he's won some and lost some.
I like MC, so I'm sad to see him out, but he deserved to lose today. His builds in the first two games really didn't seem to work, and in the last game he either didn't have an answer to Thorzain's build (was it the same as what he used against Tyler last week, or a little different?) or just didn't execute properly -- like someone pointed out earlier, his hallucinated immortals actually blocked his zealots, though that might not have mattered. I'm also glad they were playing on the same server so that there isn't any ghost of lag issues to worry about, just a straight, fair match.
Looking forward to Kas v Thorzain -- Kas looks scary good, but Thorzain can't be underestimated.

1) You don't know how much MC spent practising for Thorzain so that's a bullshit argument.
2) I don't agree he would "probably not" have won if he played MC usual builds.

The series were fantastic ! Everyone should go check'em, is the Kas vs Thorzain match going to be the match of the year?

O_O I'm surprised so many TL'ers are making excuses for MC.
+ Show Spoiler +ThorZaiN played better, and deserved his win. The end.

I wonder how happy all the other players are that MC is out

In Brood War, a foreigner pro taking out a Korean pro is unthinkable.
I am just rejoicing the fact that a dominant Korean got taken out by a foreigner. Feel the joy!

I hope not too happy, because that is just poor sportsmanship and would show how salty foreigners truly are.
I think Day9 saying he was "happy MC lost" just makes him seem jealous his own career was never close to being as good as MC.

MC does not suck, but that's no way to argue.

Throzain is amazing. The next upcoming legend.

Kid is good. Someone get him in some more American tournaments!! MC's ghost feedbacks were 100x sicker in that game. At one point about 8 ghosts in middle of Thors army picked out and instantly feedbacked is way way harder than spaming over an area.

Kas' TvT is far more superior to what ThorZain's is. Sad though since he knocked out so many good player :/ I'm REALLY REALLY curious, how do you know this? There's no recent TvT on sc2rep.com, the last I saw was him taking out cloud in the semifinals of the qualifier. Could it be. Could it possibly be that you're just publishing your uninformed opinions for the world to see? I really loath when people do this. It doesn't serve any purpose whatsoever. If you know something the rest of us don't; then please do share. I'm willing to bet you don't however. ParasitJonte, it's fine to ask people to explain their reasoning but at least let people try to defend their stance before lashing out at them.
Fyi Cloud's weakness has been his TvT, which in combination with the strong terran presence in Europe has kept him from posting results comparative to his skill level.

What do you think of these players, and who would you rather face?I think that they are quite evenly matched but if I had to pick anyone I would expect Strelok to win just barely. I would much rather play against Tyler however, because TvT definitely is my weakest match up right now. In addition to this he also lost to Swedish terran Mover in "The Road to Korea" about a week ago. Mover actually placed 4th at the Gathering but his TvT is only decent (far from the level of Kas).
Thorzain's TvT, which I regarded one of his better matchups during 2010, will probably be fine again after some dedicated practice. However, for the time being he is a huge underdog to Kas.

Loved the games yesterday, but not to spoil anything to you. Thorzains TvT is bad, he have lost alot TvT versus pretty bad players lately. And Kas TvT is superb, really. Kas also never loose online too =/. So don't get your hopes up for MC slayer!

Yes Thorzain probably spent the last weeks thinking about and preparing for MC but if he stuck with his 1-2 base timings i feel the series would have ended differently, that being said, well done Thorzain you just played amazing. If you watched the copenhagen games (and i will try not to spolier) MC only really turned to his timings in the last series he played and he really went heavy macro in his broadcast pvz series. As for people claiming Thorzain is now the #1 foreign terran i hope that is just tongue in cheek, because his run will end in the next round. Kas is just better, and i predict a final the same as the first qualifier (v Nani). Also i will add that all the protoss OP rants are getting boring now, i said in another thread that only one protoss (MC) has made a GSL final in six tournaments and it is looking doubtful one will make it this time too. The game is balanced. This is good post but not really statistically balanced.
You know Terran is least played at GM level but make up majority of top of ladders? Majority of tournament wins? Majority of entrants to every tournament like GSL, it's not even close 2:1 over more played Zerg and Protoss.
Can't comment in individual races since play really determines winner.

Wow I really regret missing these games Impressive by thorzain!
|
i'm not sure that thorzain played better, but mc used to play better ( seriously a lackkkk of upgrades o_o )

Im a BW fan but I did watched this round of TSL... and for me its the first time that I felt really exited, Thorzian did really good job (I know that MC is like the Flash of SC2).
So for me ThorZ > MC this time and dont give excuses cus it only shows that you are really blind.
BTW fantastic job TL like every time <3

Thorzain is a beast! A single game taken from mc is a huge achievment, taking the whole series and putting MCs scalp on his wall is beyond words. This series was probably the most exciting for me to watch in the entire tournament
