Way back when, a BW b-teamer with the ID tHuNdeR made the switch to Sc2 and qualified for the first GSL. He was pummeled 2-0 by TLO under his new name; Losira. It would be some time before we ever heard from that zerg again, but when he returned in force last season; tearing through a line of strong players to win Code A, and cementing himself as one of the world's top three zergs. He's heavily favored to continue his run in this group, but that isn't quite as assured as it probably should be. This is a group with a flawed, but occasionally brilliant supporting cast. The odd-man out is possibly Genius, who has been unconvincing in recent GSL play, yet still managed to topple MVP to survive in Code S. Kyrix also has struggled to recapture the mojo of his GSL2 heroics, but remains an intriguing possibility, and a wild-card stylistically. Finally, HongUn is yet a third player who is difficult to gauge, and has a habit of underperforming expectations one tournament, then overperforming in the next. This would portend a failure here, as would his 0-5 record in televised PvPs. That gives an opening to Genius, and here we come full circle.

This is an extremely difficult group to call. Given the opening match-ups, HongUn should handle Kyrix on Terminus. Genius is a push against Kyrix, but will probably choke it away. Losira should take the group no matter what. That leaves a two game series between HongUn and Kyrix or a match between Genius and HongUn, which Genius would win and then presumably draw Kyrix. This is all nearly impossible to project, but HongUn's route seems slightly more probable.

Who to watch: ZeNEXKyrix
It's no secret that zergs have been having trouble in ZvP recently, and Kyrix is no exception. Nonetheless, Kyrix remains a curious weapon in the zerg arsenal. The aggressive play that is his hallmark may yet score some wins against the grain, and could advance him from a difficult group.

+ Show Spoiler [Group D] +
Group D brings together a number of players with uncertain futures and very different backgrounds. The group's most accomplished player is the two time finalist MarineKing. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride, MarineKing would love to get to the altar this season, but made a poor showing of himself in last season. Another second place finish in the recent GSL World Championship is surely weighing on his mind. NaDa is the seed in this groups, as well as its most notable player. Since switching from BW, NaDa has shown good but not tremendous performances in the GSL, and may lack the upside of much of the rest of the field. A surprising run in last season's Code A has made Alicia one of the most intriguing players to watch in this GSL. Defeating MVP in the up/down matches, and playing solidly in the GSTL has only increased his stock. Finally, Zenio is the likely ugly duckling of this group, having remained in Code S, but unlikely to ever do much with it.

Alicia, MarineKing, and NaDa are all reasonable predictions for this group, but when paired with the recent triumphs of the two former players, NaDa's recent form can be called into question. An early match against MarineKing on Terminus will be a tough order. So too will a game against Alicia on Xel'Naga.

Who to watch: Slayers_Alicia
Alicia is good, we know this, but how good? Advancing from the group is expected, but winning it would be a huge statement, and also might help dodge Losira early on. That'd be great news for the rising protoss, and could lead to a longer run in Code S. As a leading player of recent GSTL winners SlayerS, a lot of eyes will be on Alicia to see exactly how far he can do on the mainstage.

Group D is an interesting group. All of those guys are deserved Code S players, which makes it one of the toughest groups (along with Jinro/Clide/San/Nestea). I think MKP and Alicia will make it out though, and for Group C, I am hoping for Genius and Losira, but I expect it to be Losira and Hongun.

I'm a strong partisan of early LR threads
MKP should roll nada and zenio if everything goes according to the plan, I'm not too scared for him.
I hope we'll see some variety in the other group (aka no macro game into gg please). 2 average protosses (that can have moments of genius) and 2 zergs (one very strong and one average but who can play very strong too).
Very hard to predict, I'd say Hongun and Losira win, then Losira wins again. No idea how the PvP will turn out.

I think today's (since I'm in Australia I can sort of consider it today) pair of groups is the most exciting pair we have this season. Yeah, sure Jinro, Nestea, Clide and san might probably the most exciting group overall, but they're paired with Lyn, Check, FD, Killer...that's pretty meh.

On the other hand, we have the second group of Death (between Alicia, Nada, Marineking, someone has to go... Zenio's been meh lately, but *shrug*) we also have an interesting competitive group with Kyrix, Genius, Losira and HongUn.

1. Read the disclaimer at the top and bottom of OP.
2. A lot of SC:BW live report threads are up way in advance of the broadcast.

I don't understand why you feel the need to insert your own opinion into the OP. You could just as easily make it the first or second response. As is, it just appears as if you feel entitled to add something completely subjective to a post that should otherwise be entirely objective just because you created the thread? That you did it this early only further supports such a suggestion.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the work put into threads like this, but you don't seem to care for objectivity. Your polls are often biased and completely spoil the game for people who are looking to only watch the good games. In your credit, you DO create very good 5-answer, objective polls for the most part. It should just be like that for all of them.

Two completely awesome groups, as well as the ultimate group of death in the MSL on at the same time. Tomorrow is gonna be so exciting.

Hoping that MarineKing, Alicia and Losira get through, not too bothered about the rest of group C. Do the players in these groups meet up in the next round? Like if Losira won his group and MarineKing came second, would they face each other in the Ro16? If so, that would really really suck

After seeing that movie about him, I really hope he can take it this season. He deserves it aswell! So many finals, time to win one. He has a tough group though. But I think he can beat Nada and zenio (hoping for some sick ass games)

I will pray tonight. I will pray that 2 zergs make it out of group C. I will pray for revenge.

A group without Terrans. Strange stuff. I will be tuning in to see how that develops, probably with a nexus being canceled and a 5gate all-in. Ugh, we will see.

Maybe we should have a poll about polls?

I personally prefer the standard three option "yes/no/if you have time" poll format. Simple and informative.

I just thought it would be something to add. I've never put my opinion in my OP before. I've always been objective in my last two LR threads. I only added my opinions later after first posting because the thread felt empty and since it was still early, I'd thought I'd go ahead and hype the games up a bit. I'll remove them anyway if it makes you happy.

As for polls I've only made ONE poll ever (I've only made 2 LR threads - 3 if you include this, just FYI) that could be considered spoiling a game and it was the Boxer v Avenge game 3. Even then, that poll didn't spoil anything. It was mainly a poll in how well the game went, because the end was worth the watch, whether or not you're a Boxer fan or not. I left an option for people who had differing views to still select it.

I've always been very objective with my polls. Even though I was sad that Leenock lost, I didn't change the poll options.

And this is also the first time I've ever put the thread out this early. Both times I started the thread I only started it 20-30 minutes before the broadcast started. So rather than having to wait till someone else does it, I might as well put it up, so no one will have to rush to get one up tomorrow.

Maybe we should have a poll about polls?

I personally prefer the standard three option "yes/no/if you have time" poll format. Simple and informative.

Yeah, I was thinking of putting that as well. But I wanted to differ the "absolutely" great from the good. So I put a 4 option one. But then I realized it was a mistake as it got too confusing. I started to experiment with a 5 option one later in today's matches.

But anyway between 3 options or 5, I'll just put a poll up and go with the winner.
