The winner of the tournament will get a payed trip to South Korea and live in the GSL House and compete in the GSL for one month (with possibilities to extend the stay). The trip back and forth to South Korea plus money for subsistence with a total value of 15 000 SEK is what's up for grabs provided by Logitech. There will also be product prizes from Logitech Gaming Gear for top three placers.

This is a Sweden only tournament and the purpose is to create the "next Jinro" to represent Swedish E-sports in the number one Starcraft country South Korea in the best and most competitive Starcraft 2 league in the world, GSL.The winner will be able to decide when during the summer when he wants to attend, so it will not be strict into specific dates. The player will represent himself and his organization, Rakaka and Logitech is only hosting the tournament.

Ten players will be invited and two open qualifiers will be organized. The main tournament will be divided into two groups with six players of round robin, BO3. More information about rules, maps and the invited players will be announced later.

The tournament will be casted in English by http://www.GLHF.tv and Swedish by Rakaka

Quite a strong lineup, I'd LOVE to see Naniwa give GSL a go!

The house in Sweden was just announced and he's staying there, so that's expected.

Naniwa or Thorzain takes it imo

ThorZain is just looking so solid right now, I hope he gets this chance.

To be fair, I haven't seen many of the players on this list, so that'll be great too.

Mill.Lalush takes the series 2-0 convincingly, but mover feared lalush to much, didn't put pressure on even with a 2rax opening.

Thorzain vs Mover, 0-1.

Mover did a huge drop in Thorzains main and obliterated everything. Thorzain tried for a base trade but didn't have enough stuff.

Commantators aren't top class but games are still pretty entertaining.
Mover-ThorZain 1-0

Naniwa basically babysits one of the them in analysis and the third guy just swears and screams when a baneling blows up.

This is so wierd. Thorzain and sase loses, vs some randoms. Well i've seen mover do good in some ESL cups, but he shouldn't win vs Thorz :\\

Hm so those players really want to go to Korea? Cause every time a player is asked about him going to Korea they answer "Idk, there are so many good tourneys outside of Korea. Maybe I will go to Korea later, now there are too many good tournaments etc etc"

There is a big difference between moving to korea on your own dollar and trying your luck at getting into the gsl, and winning a spot in GSL before you even leave, a place to stay/train and spending cash.

Bah cytoplasm need to learn to defend with only as many units as needed. Even though speedlings are fast, running with a hundred of them between four bases to defend against a handful of marines in every spot sucks. That eventually killed him when he got sieged up beneath the ramp to his fifth base with his entire army up the ramp.

Well played by mover though, nice to see his unrelenting aggression.

Hmm, that schedule doesn't make sense at all, unless those are only broadcasted games and the rest are not listed.

I don't get it either. It should be more matches, and updates. So far on the stream it has been broadcasted in that order though.

Thanks, I didn't know that.
That explains why the schedule is lacking.

They only played a few of the matches.

For instance Thorzain has played 2 matches, there are 6 people in the group.

They might still have some sponsor issues with the english stream. Last week(?) they had to cast from replays on glhf because of that.

I wonder why the hell a Swedish stream is using justin.tv without utilizing the opinion to be able to lower the resolution. It's the only thing that makes justin.tv work for me here in Sweden, even when I have a fast connection. Stupid...

He was too busy on the day when that group played so they postponed the games. I think there is an "article" somewhere on rakaka about it.

It was a swedish poster asking the question, which is probably why he didn't translate. It's basically that's his matches has been postponed due to him having a lot of stuff going on.

Quick translate:
Naniwa's matches postponed because he was at the Gadget Show and had matches in NASL, TSL and BDL. Rakaka chose not to disqualify him and instead let him play at a later time. This was partly because Rakaka didn't plan ahead as good as could be expected. These matches will not be casted but replays will be made available.

That basically means that glhf still could cast them though, pretty sure they're just talking about the Rakaka stream.

NaNiwas games postponed until next week
Despite this NaNiwa could not play his matches on time. This was partially due to being in England during the weekend for The Gadget Show as well as having TSL, NASL and BDL to play during the few days he was at home before the next tournament. Rakaka faced the decision to either disqualify NaNiwa or let him play his games at a later time. After a discussion we decided to make an exception due to the current conditions as well as because we didn't plan ahead very well. This is to be seen as an exception as the games normally should be played live. For the moment we will not be able to stream NaNiwas games but will instead offer replays.

Games today:
* 19:15 NaNiWa vs Bischu
* 20:00 MorroW vs BSW
* 20:45 JimpO vs Bischu
* 21:30 NaNiWa vs FuRy
* 22:15 JimpO vs BSW
* 23:00 Bischu vs FuRy
* 23:45 MorroW vs JimpO
* 00:30 FuRy vs BSW

Sucks that they still haven't added the option to lower the resolution for the stream. Lagging like hell for me.

I do know that, what i mean is i dont understand why there even is a swedish stream, are there actually swedes who prefer swedish commentary over english? me and my friends dont, curious if anyone is out there who prefers it...

Exactly the same feeling here. I just can't stand swedish casting actually, I dunno why.

Can't they just speak english instead of swedish?.. The general skill level of english in sweden is enough to be able to manage an ok cast atleast, that'd open up the stream for everyone and add a way more enjoyable lingo than the swedish one for sc2.

Ya, swedish simply isn't suited for SC commentary. Doesn't really matter how good the commentator is, it's annoying anyway. =/

All I know is that Nani beat Bischu 2-1.
I think Morrow won vs BSW but I only saw one game and we was toying with him in that one.

I think it's more about the commentators. Right now there is too much stuttering and weird language usage. It will probably get better when the casting duo get some more experience.

I think it's more about the commentators. Right now there is too much stuttering and weird language usage. It will probably get better when the casting duo get some more experience.

I have literally never heard swedish commentary that I could enjoy.

Neither have I, but I still believe it can be done. ^_^

I would much rather have english casters. Those guys whos currently comentating are really unproffesional. The guy who speaks the most (dnu name), hes really terrible and seems to know nothing about the game.

I like having commentators doing it in Swedish. The main problem with Swedish is that you can't translate things to make them sound even remotely cool. Translating the unit names for example would result in shiver-worthy results. Another problem with Swedish streams in the past has been the sub-par casting. Look at SVT coverage of Dreamhack for example or the people on the Aftonbladet stream of the Dreamhack invitational - they simply don't have the knowledge or energy of international casters.

In this case that's simply not a problem. The guys from Rakaka are doing a really good job on both production value and casting. Hoping we'll see them continue with their casting in Swedish and bring in other casters to do it in English on a separate stream. DJWheat and some co-caster perhaps.

Honestly fellas, is it that hard to update a scoreboard after each game?

What are group B standings now after todays matches (pre MorroW-NaNi game)?

Agreed, I'm at work so I just want to know some damn results/standings but this has to be the slowest I've seen brackets updated for an interesting tournament. =(

Wow, accidentally tuning in and Morrow vs. Naniwa playing, two of my favorite players.

But although I want Morrow to win I don't see him beating a protoss of Nani's caliber right now.
Mutation complete.

Naniwa vs morrow right now, Naniwa winning the first game by a well executed 4gate due to morrow getting late lingspeed

Dont know exactly, but they said that the winner will advance, I think if Naniwa does it will be G2 1.Naniwa 2.Bischu and if Morrow does: 1.Bischu 2. MorroW

. Shame that Nani Vs Morrow should have been the finals for the whole thing. They are the only two that would do well over there.

MorroW is currently taking the entire map

MorroW GGed to Protoss Death ball push, all morrow had was a bunch of muta and spines which did nothing really

I agree they are probably the ones with the largest potential. However, Sase is pretty new to SC2 (since like Jan-Feb I think) and he is already doing pretty well. MorroW must have played so many more games in total. So maybe Sase will have a steeper improvement curve. Dunno. I doubt Sase can bring it to Naniwa though so I see him as a clear favorit if they manage to get to the finals.

Well Naniwa deserved the other semi spot anyways. (went undefeated)

watching morrow just makes me sad, he has no concept of how to adapt its like he comes into the game with 1 build order and if it doesn't work out he auto loses.

And i hate swedish casting it should be done in english, and tbh the casters are good at e-sport but they dont know that much about SC2 (except Lalush).

Thank you thank you thank you whoever made the change so you can change the resolution on jtv.

Naniwa patching his EU client from the US atm if anyone is wondering. (according to casters.) Good for Naniwa that there aren't any terrans left or he might have had to play to hid his build orders for the TSL.

In Sweden, we never cast from replays. We would rather cut off our genitalia.

Shouldn't be too much lag unless it's something caused by the patch.

Agreed. NA to EU(both ways) isn't really a problem at all.

Sase destroying Bischu. Didn't watch myself but that's basically what the commentators said.

Naniwa against Lalush starting now after some delay with Naniwa patching his EU client or something.

And now the stream crashed.

Naniwa does a nexus cancel into 4 gate while continuously blocking the main ramp of Lalush on Xelnaga Caverns. I think he put down like 15 consecutive forcefields....

Frustrating to watch as a Zerg...

Edit: Only thing Lalush did not do was to put roaches at the main cliffs edge... that could have helped maybe, because you push the army away from the cliff then...

He did not do everything correct to defend a 4 gate. He got tricked by the fake nexus and build to many drones.

So if your going to whine you should whine about the lack of scouting ability not the lack of ability to defend 4 gate.

Lalush got up defences in time for Naniwa's 4-gate but Naniwa FFed the ramp until his reinforcements were enough to overpower the units in the natural.

No gg from Lalush ... I feel for him, such a big match, he perfectly predicts the nexus cancel and puts down 2 crawlers + massing a ton of lings/roaches but can't fight the forcefields ...
I'm afraid the patch did nothing to address the 4gates. SaSe also won 2-0 vs Bischu using 4gates T.T (although I wanted SaSe to win).

I don't think so, he had spines up, roaches out, speedlings, the problem was 1 FF blocks the entire ramp, so you can just block it off forever. IMO he read the fake nexus.

Yeah, he saw no forge or gate wall in from of the nexus and predicted that he will do a 4gate.
The best zergs don't need to see the nexus canceled to understand that a 4gate push is coming.

Lalush tried so hard to get a good position all game. You can see him trying his butt off microing two groups of roaches trying to get a good concave. However in the end where does he choose to engage? at the effin ramp where 2 forcefields force a burrow. Honestly he had that game won, and naniwa knows it too. Balance had nothing to do with it, a competent zerg would not engage at a place like that. (Don't even let him through to your 3rd.)

Even if I agree that Nani played that well, the fact you can indefinitely forcefield so taht burrowed roaches can't unburrow EVER while killing them cause you have an obs is bs imo. 1 line of forcefield gives zerg an opportunity to use burrow effectively but more and it gets retarded :>

This, he was 60 supply ahead which is alot even for a zerg battling a protoss producing mass gateway units. The concave he could have was pretty damn perfect, and then he let's Nani get up to his third and fight him at the ramp AFTER he killed the expo.

Probably some nerves getting to him I guess, but nevertheless pretty sloppy play.

As I said earlier you can't engage there. At best he could have killed the zealots but there's no way to do more damage vs so many forcefields. All those zerglings would have done very little damage.

Lalush was hoping that Naniwa would do a small timing push that he can crush and then counterattack.
Even if he had a bad start, he was 45 supply ahead when the final fight started but forcefield/stalkers are almost impossible to kill with roaches only :/
Hydras/Infestors wouldn't have been out in time for that push, so mass roaches was his best chance anyway.

I'm still sad about the first game though where Lalush reacted very well to that all in and still lost

He had the robo sniped, how hard would it have been to click on morph overseer and try and snipe the observer with queens? He had lair for roach upgrades anyway. Seriously. Lalush has nothing to whine about.

Watch the game before commenting please. He engaged OUTSIDE the ramp first time, but Naniwa surrounded his army with forcefields.
You can't engage that army properly no matter the position. Naniwa had over 30 forcefields in those sentries.

Oh this is a great idea!
Please go on b.net, whisper Lalush about it and post here the reply you'll get from him

You cant be serious, lalush could have done things better but bringing a queen and a overseer to snipe an obs was not one of them lol

well if roaches can 'properly' engage any protoss army (even 200/200) they will actually crush it so hard it's not even funny.

embarassing behaviour by lalush

Imbalance or not, you don't behave like this. Hopefully he will be banned from future rakaka events. Or swedish events in general.
The truth is, Yagami-kun, I suspect that you may in fact be Kira.

Yes, if the protoss is afk and doesn't cast forcefield. Unfortunately for Lalush, Naniwa wasn't afk.

Wasn't naniwa 100 % gateway units in the last game against lalush? Wouldn't it have been possible to get out a bunch of hydras for the big engagement?

There was a long period when the observer was scouting around by itself. Sure it might not have been caught but that doesn't mean you shouldn't even try. Slow observers can't outrun queens and if it had gone down naniwa would have been forced to pull back for quite a while.

His first engagement of the game was pretty good, that's where you want to engage. He made naniwa use like 10+ forcefields just to not die. But then nani fell back, recharged energy, and attacked a second time. lalush got scared and naniwa got to the sweet spot that should never have been given to him.

There is talk in the chat about a 36 BO3 win streak for Naniwa, can anyone confirm this?

Perhaps. Naniwa totally deserves to go there (if he wants to). He'd put up an amazing show, that's for sure. But..Sase has a fuckton of potential. He was amazing in WC3 and while he's only been playing SC2 for a few months he's at a really high level. If he keeps this up he'll be one of the very best, eventually.

He was amazing in WC3 and while he's only been playing SC2 for a few months he's at a really high level. If he keeps this up he'll be one of the very best, eventually.

i don't know how long sase has been playing for but he has played more games than most other people anyway. check his profile. over 1k games this season already. sick guy.

Naniwa will bust out his own 4gate and win the next two games, no worries.

you just need to look a little harder.

i don't mean solid at anything below "damn good" it's just that he does all the standard stuff really good that there is not even room to show impressive stuff because he has won the game allready most of the times.

Money wise it won't be the best decision to go in Korea indeed. But he said he wants to prove himself as the best player in the world.

Watch the game before commenting please. He engaged OUTSIDE the ramp first time, but Naniwa surrounded his army with forcefields.
You can't engage that army properly no matter the position. Naniwa had over 30 forcefields in those sentries.

He could have intercepted Nanis forces before he went up the ramp towards the third, but chose not to. He instead went and attacked it when he had already killed the third with the sentries having just as much energy in an even worse position.

He should've either fully commited to the attack before Nani went up to the third or not attack at all.
Not bashing on Lalush, I just felt bad since he had quite a big lead before those engagements.

Yeah, Sase is very good, obviously, but I think a lot of people have been cheering for Naniwa since he's been on such a run lately :-( I'm kind of sad, I was curious to see how he'd do in Korea, but I hope Sase will put up some good results, too. Good luck Sase!

He'd only have to pay for the flight ticket and will get seeded into code A due to MLG/maybe TSL win.

No, PvP is balanced (duh!). And Naniwa lost by bad decision-making. But he is still the better player! If they had played Bo100 Naniwa would have pwned SaSe at least 51 times. Nuff said.

I think it means he gets a month time to get a chance at getting a spot in Code A, and not an automatic seeding.

He gets seeded into one Code A season, but will have to prove himself there if he wants to keep his place. thats how i understood it.

Naniwa felt a bit stressed in his play. Also I don't think playing a tournament on the same day as the patch hit is optimal for the performances (as well after a long trip over the atlantic). It's sad to see the stream end but at the same time I'm pretty sure we'll see Naniwa in Korea sometime in the future anyway.

Didn't know about his wc3 career.. But irregardless, I don't really see him qualifying to code A when players such as Ret, Haypro, Huk etc failed to do so. The qualifiers are presumably a lot harder now as well.

edit: they're giving a free seed into code A?

If they name the tournament, they will probably have checked with GOM to see if the winner of this tourney will get a spot in the GSL, so i dont think we have to discuss that topic here?

I honestly don't know what is GOM's current foreign invite policy for Code A

for GSL May, no foreigners were invited into Code A and all had to try to enter Code A via Code B qualifiers

In GSL March there where 4 foreigner invites. Ret, HuK, HayprO, and Moonglade. Only HuK managed to stay in the GSL (by reaching Code S).
He got to ro8 in Code A where he was then beaten by Losira (who ended up winning Code A).

I don't think he's guaranteed a spot in code A.

I think Naniwa would do great in GSL, but on the other hand SaSe is no rookie and for him to get the opportunity to go to Korea and improve his play will surely boost his SC2-career which is awesome for swedish e-sports. Naniwa will probably go to Korea sooner or later and start taking names and kicking ass. Also SaSe is from Gothenburg so he is clearly the better human being.

No one knows what this will count as. The casters have said several times that the winner will go there to qualify for Code A. If they know he's got a auto seed they are sure not pushing it. I'd guess GOM makes a decision after they know who is coming.

I don't think this counts as a major tournament, it was online and only had Swedish players.
Maybe if Naniwa won he'd get a seed bacuase of MLG, but as it is... nah

Well, we can still see him in the GSL. If you have won "major tournaments" you can get a direct place in the Code A.

MLG is kind of a "major tournament".

I think Naniwa wants to go to Korea so let us just say this: Dignitas - buy Naniwa a ticket to Korea. Now!

Wow, very well mannered. Didn´t see missmicro by Nani, but perhaps I just don´t see things like this. After this statement I must say I really hope both can go to Korea...

Gl for SaSe and hoping for Nani for a solution, after his recent results I´m sure he has good chances in Code A at least.

Does that mean he gets a code A spot?

I think it means he gets a month time to get a chance at getting a spot in Code A, it's not an automatic seeding.

I believe John said GOM would give code A seeds to foreigners with notable tournament victories. I'm guessing this counts.

Yeah well they even gave a code A spot to Haypro.
And he had basically won nothing.

Could someone official confirm if its a code A spot for SaSe?

No foreigners got Code A spots last season, they all had to qualify.

Yeah, i know. Doesnt change my statement.

Yes it does.

Would make 100% sense if this counts as one of the tournaments.

Nice find. If Naniwa could find someone to pay for his flight and a place to stay he could get a code A seed anyways.

To find someone to pay the flight wouldn't be that hard. Hey, I would even consider to do it.

Hellspawn made it sound like there is room for negotiations with GOM for a code A seed.

On the stream they made it sound like he has to qualify for Code-A.
Naniwa could probably go if he wanted to though, he might even get a Code-A seed.

If it were Naniwa that would have gone he surely would have got an auto seed just based on his MLG win and recent success. Sase is a little more doubtful imo.

Sase could go win dreamhack and then go to korea though, I'd guess that would qualify as a major tournament.

Very nice interview from SaSe. Crossing fingers that they upload it to YT so I or someone else can translate.

I'm actually quite happy that Sase won. He will get a chance that he probably wouldn't have gotten elseway.
Nani has Dignitas' support, and such a high-profile team will surely be able to send a player to the GSL whenever they wanted to. Maybe Nani will go to Korea anyway. If not, he will now still be able to qualify for ESL Campus Party, maybe participate in the next Homestory cup, and surely be able to attend MLG Anaheim (all these events will collide with the next GSL season in one way or another). Whereas I totally cheered for you, Nani, I am quite happy that I can keep watching more of your play in EU tournaments
On another note, we got to see a glimpse of the new PvP today. 4gate is not dead, and in the right spawning positions on bigger maps we can see some great strats and BOs. I loved the DT->Archon transition from Nani on TalDarim

So is this tournament to see who gets to be inside of the team house in Korea or does the player get put straight into code A as well?

Wow, very well mannered. Didn´t see missmicro by Nani, but perhaps I just don´t see things like this. After this statement I must say I really hope both can go to Korea...

Latency doesn't necessarily mean noticeable mistakes like mis-micro, but it also affects many tiny things that spectators might not grasp, and more importantly, affects the mindset of the player (namely, the fear of it *potentially* affecting play).

It's why we see some Koreans who seemingly play "normally" without any large mistakes in online tournaments, but still end up losing to simple things, and more importantly, never show any amazing control or decisions. When the skill difference isn't large, ordinary play might not be able to win certain situations in certain games. Like, when we see amazing "starsense" or perfectly crisp battle management from players like Bomber or mvp that can instantly pull them ahead of another player - such play will almost never happen on games affected by high latency.

The skill difference between Naniwa and SaSe isn't large, and thus, the crisp execution and micro we usually see from Naniwa might not have been so crisp (but not noticeable enough for spectators to see), and thus, he loses. Or, he might have had a bad day. Who knows.

Either way, go SaSe!

No, he said "i dont think i would have had the same chances of beating him if he played on EU"

Well he meant that he wouldnt beat him otherwise, wich I dont think he would've. Jetlagged, NA->EU lag and caught up training for TSL finals.. I mean he didnt even have time to patch his EU copy before the tournament began. But that's also the game. He lost, and that's how it is. The best player doesnt always win. I'm glad for SaSe and I hope he learns alot on Korea. Although I'm kind of sad because it would've been great for the foreign scene to see Naniwa in Korea, because if HuK kan be a code S player then Naniwa sure as hell can wreck shit up over there. Especially with proper training. Let's hope Dignitas sends him anyway, it would be a GREAT investment for them. I hope they realize that.

Some are saying that the winner of the TSL gets a free Code A seed (not sure how reliable this information is). So Naniwa will have a good chance anyways - although, I wouldn't mind if Thorzain gets it either.

Edit: also, HuK has always had issues with nerves (but most Koreans who play him on ladder think that he's a beast) - I realize that ladder doesn't mean much when one has to play on TV in front of a live audience, but don't assume that he's a lesser player just because Naniwa has been in better form recently.

Yeah, SaSe also said that he wouldnt stand a chance in Code A right now so I doubt he could take home a LAN event like DH. That's what bums me out a little, Naniwa is totally ready for Code A, and would have an excellent chance of advancing to S already, but we'll see. I guess he could get into Code A via his MLG win as well, right?

You are? I don't think there's any foreigner, expect maybe idra, that would do better than Nani in Code S. Not saying he would dominate but.. you know, TSL finals, MLG win, owning his NASL division and hes (as far as I know) a record 36 straight BoX wins..it's hard to say he isnt one of the better protoss in the game right now. I think he could do just fine in Code S. Don't think the rest of the world is that far behind korea.

I believe he would beat both Jinro and HuK during internet tournaments and LAN events, he wouldnt be as adjusted to life in Korea though so maybe not right away. But he's a better player than those two, so who knows? If we pick one guy going to Korea though to play in GSL I dont see anyone more suited, I guess is what I'm trying to say.

Nani is the best foreigner player atm, no question to anyone that knows the game, with Idra the only one I could listen to an argument for (no people, thorzain is not in the conversation lol). He would do well in Code A, but getting to code S is extremely hard and a very volatile process. I still think he would, and I'm looking forward to the day he decides to try.

Naniwa would very likely do better than Huk and Jinro. He is better at Starcraft 2 than Huk and Jinro, no question about it.

Statements like these are always funny to me. Naniwa is on a hot streak for a month. Not trying to take anything away from Naniwa, but look at the players he played to win MLG. TBH the only international caliber player he beat in that tournament was Select, who is also his teammate, and we all know how weird those matches can be. Look at his TSL run aswell - no particularly big names until Hasu (Ret arguably but Ret has been wildly inconsistent recently). You need alot more evidence before saying that he would do great in Code S.

Not like he had a BoX win streak since Januaryish till only just recently where he lost to Sase in this tournament, just after he flew to America...

Show me a single win in that streak against a code-s caliber player. I'm not saying he couldn't do well in Korea, but saying he would eclipse the achievements of Jinro and Huk easily is ungrounded.
